Lil'Mole Run Golf Course
Played On 08/26/2020Fun Course
Lil’ Mole, a par 71 tucked away in the woods of Mentone AL, Lookout Mtn. Before thinking you’ll score low, know that there are narrow sloped fairways, mounded greens, narrow perpendicular to your fairway greens, and 5 lakes/ponds of water. Hole 9 demands both a well placed long drive and a surgically landed wedge shot onto an island. Any failure to execute and you’ll be buying your ball back the following week at the burger bar. This daunting hole lies in full view of the lounge. You can watch the golf channel there but it’s more fun watching the dignity of golfers evaporate as they finish the 9th. As of Aug 2020, the fairways are lush. There’s not a lot of rough but some holes line the forest, a pure golf mine of golf balls if you can find ‘em. The bentgrass greens have a sand base, roll medium slow, and are given top care. The folks running the course are welcoming. The golfers I’ve come in contact have a friendly country countenance and it’s clean, a definite plus for a public course. Golf carts appear new with nice covers for your clubs if it rains. There’s a few faded yardage indictors on the cart path but best to bring a yardage finder. Makes for a nice day to get in 9 holes, relax, chat, try a tasty cheeseburger or bbq sandwich, then go out again for the back 9. There’s also fishing and RV facilities.
