Western Skies Golf Club
Played On 07/23/2022Decent value
Decent for $50ish w cart. A few other courses in the east valley are a better value imo, but if they're booked, Western Skies is good for $15 or so bucks more. Thankfully the greens on the course were a million times better than the practice green. Fairways and tee boxes were good. Bunkers were decent.
Ken McDonald Golf Course
Played On 07/16/2022Great Value
I play here every now and again. Greens and tee boxes were in good shape. Fairways were so so, but for $30, it's a great deal imo.
Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club
Played On 08/13/2022Phenomenal Condition!
Great track. Can be tough, but it's very fair. Course was in perfect condition other than a couple bunkers. Tee boxes, fairways, rough, and greens were in perfect condition.
Sun City South Golf Course
Played On 07/24/2022Great Value - Course in great shape
Course was in great shape. Greens were great, fairways great, bunkers great, and the rough was nice and green. 6800 from the tips, and it's a great course if you're spraying it around a little bc there's plenty of room. For $25 it was an absolute steal.
Sun City South Golf Course
Played On 07/24/2022Incredible Value for the Money
Greens, fairways, tee boxes, and bunkers were all in fantastic shape. For $25 w cart it might be one of the best values in the valley. 6800 from the tips...not bad. Too bad I live on the east side of the valley or I'd play here a heck of a lot more.
The Legacy Golf Club
Played On 12/02/2021Reluctant 5
Course condition was phenomenal. Greens and fairways were awesome. Staff was great. I'm giving a 5 because of the actual course and staff. Hopefully, whoever is in charge of tee times takes some feedback!
Pace of play was absolute garbage. The Outlaw tour was playing in front of public times...whatever the Outlaw tour is. I get that all of them think they'll be a PGA Tour pro some day, and they are slow as heck, BUT - CMON Legacy...leave a 45 minute gap after those tools so public rounds aren't 20+ minutes behind and 4 hours 40 minutes on top of it.
I'm sure I'll play here again, and I hope the Outlaw tour is never back.
Dobson Ranch Golf Course
Played On 08/21/2021Fantastic Shape
Great course. Plenty of room to spray a few shots, and a few tougher holes. Fairways, teeboxes, and greens are in fantastic shape!
We were a 4 snd played in 3:40, which I'll consider lucky, but it was awesome.
Orange Tree Golf & Conference Resort
Played On 08/07/2021Great Layout
Really fun layout. A lot of big trees and a lot of shade. Reminded me of Midwest courses.
I gave 5 stars overall, because of the layout.
Plenty of room off the tee, and good variety. Multiple bunkers around most greens. 3 short par 5s and one long one.
Rough - not in great shape in some places, but...it's the rough. Great shape in some areas.
Greens - so so...maybe a 7/10 at best. Slow, and a good bit of dead areas, but playable.
Fairways- fantastic...9+/10.
Pace of play...holy you know what. Front 9 was great at 1:40ish...back 9 2:40ish. They were teeing off on 1 and 10, and they don't have a dang clue how to do it in my opinion. 3 groups on the tee at the turn, and 2 groups on almost every tee on the back. Ridiculous!
All in all, I'd go back in a heartbeat. Very fun and playable course...I guess I just need to remind myself that the back 9 pace is going to be garbage.
Lone Tree Golf Club
Played On 05/13/2021Great Value - Good Greens - Fun layout
Great value for summer rates. Fairways were in great shape. Rough was in good shape for the most part. Greens weren't super fast, but they rolled really well.
Fun layout. The houses don't feel close at all. It takes a pretty terrible shot to hit in to the houses...which I did, twice. :D
The Links Golf Club At Queen Creek
Played On 11/14/2020Better conditions soon, hopefully
Fun course, and fun layout with multiple drivable par 4s.
We played a week ago, and thought the greens would be in better shape this week. They were not, which was odd...they seemed to actually regress. I'd say the greens and fairways are a good 2 weeks away from being better. For $40 though, it's all good compared to what other courses are charging.
We will definitely be back, because we like the course, but it'll be a couple weeks.
Western Skies Golf Club
Played On 09/07/2020Great Conditions
Course is in fantastic shape. Greens are really good, and fairways are green and full.
Fun course. Easy-ish layout, with room on at least one side of all but one hole. It makes for a fun round if you're missing by a bit vs. being lost in the desert or a yard.
Pace was pretty bad (4:45), but we knew it would be, on Labor Day, so I can't knock the review stars for it.
5 stars overall...we'll be back.
San Tan Highlands
Played On 08/29/2020Great Value
Great course. Front nine has some really cool elevation changes, and great back drops. Back nine is more flat, but still good. There were minimal dead spots in the fairways and the greens were in fantastic shape for summer in AZ.
Pace was decent for a Sat am...waited on most shots but still finished in 4:05.
Fun course. For $33 it was a great value.
We'll be back.
Hello and thank you for your 5-star rating, Meh2255! We're delighted you enjoyed your round. Please book another round with us soon, and thanks for choosing The Golf Club at Johnson Ranch!
Dobson Ranch Golf Course
Played On 07/04/2020Extremely Fun Course, Great Condition
Extremely fun course. Big mature trees line the fairways. I enjoyed the old style traditional layout. This course reminded me of the Wigwam courses a little. There was room to miss but you'll be in and around trees if you do, so there are some fun punch outs etc.
Greens, rough, and fairways were in really good shape. The fairway and rough were still pretty thick, and green. Nice vs. some other course I've played recently.
Pace was good.
Great value for the money. I'll be back many times.
Championship at Viewpoint Golf Resort
Played On 06/27/2020Great Greens, fun course!
Greens were in fantastic shape. Fairways n rough were okay. Great course for beginners, and just as good for decent players to shoot a low number. It's pretty wide open, so you can blow driver around.
I'll go back for sure. $25 for great greens and a fun course is good by me.
Apache Wells Country Club
Played On 06/20/2020Fun Course - Great Greens
If you're looking for a challenging layout with multiple holes that require you to be precise, this isn't it. With that said, for $28 with a cart, I thought the course was well worth it. I had a lot of fun.
Greens were in amazing shape. Not lightning fast, but they rolled well.
Fairways were slightly hit and miss...they were recently aerated, but there was still full grass in most spots.
The course is short at 6000 yards, but it was fun. There is a ton of room off the tees, so you can blast away all day if you want, or hit irons I hit multiple different clubs to mix it up. There are 5 par 5s, but two of them are like 455...still fun though. Easy birdies, right?!
I played w my son, and another guy, and we finished in about 3 hours (teed off at 10a), so that was great.
I'll be back.
Crowne Plaza San Marcos Golf Resort
Played On 03/29/2018Fun track for a low price
Not a difficult course, and you shouldn't lose many (if any) balls. It was a lot of fun from the tips though. All par 5s are easily reachable with an iron on your second shot, two par 4s are drivable, and two par 4s are 470 yards. The greens were absolutely perfect. Fairways and rough had a couple patchy spots here and there, but I gave 5 stars because $50 is a steal for this course, all things considered. I'd play here again!
The Legacy Golf Club
Played On 03/28/2018Fantastic
Fairways, around the greens, and the greens themselves were in immaculate shape. 10/10! Pace was decent at 4 hours.
Ocotillo Golf Club - White/Gold
Played On 03/27/2018Ol Faithful
I've played this course numerous times over the years (spring break from MN). For $60, it's still one of the best values in the Phoenix area, in my opinion. The course is a traditional layout (big trees and no desert), with room off the tee, but if you spray it a little you'll lose plenty of balls in the water. We played in just over 3 hours, which isn't the norm, but it was a nice bonus. If you're looking for a good course, at a good price, I'd highly recommend playing here.
Miami Springs Golf & Country Club
Played On 02/07/2018Great Course for the Money
I played the course twice. Pace was pretty bad on Sunday (4:50), but I got around in 3:30 on Wednesday. Greens and bunkers were in perfect condition. Greens were only rolling maybe 8.5, but they were true. Fairways and rough were good...full with a few weeds here and there, but again, they were full. There isn't much trouble, so you should easily get around without losing many, if any, balls. The range was bare with little grass, and a TON of divots, and I only got 10 or so balls good enough to hit driver with (range balls need to be replaced), but it works if you need to warm up a little.
I gave 5 stars overall because I think the course was a great value vs. what others cost. It's a relatively simple layout, but the course is tough enough from the tips. I'd definitely play here again.
Thank you so much! We are glad to have awesome guests like you!
