I was a little hesitant to play based on some recent negative comments about course conditions and my experience the last time I played here. I am happy to report that the course was in very good shape, with the tee boxes, fairways, and greens all like you would hope for in a higher end public course. The layout is still fun with many famous and scenic holes. And after birdies on the Sawgrass #17 and Augusta #12 holes, I will never watch The Players Championship or the Masters again without thinking about the shots I hit on those holes.

Played the Bluebonnet/Mockingbird combination at 12:50pm yesterday. Finished in under 4 hours even though we caught up to a couple of groups on the back 9. Greens are in fantastic shape and are running fast...just wish I could make a putt. Great time out on a great course.

I haven't walked a golf course in over 10 years, but my boss wanted to, and they rent push carts, so here we go. This was the first time I played since the course was renovated a few years ago. The clubhouse and surrounding area were especially upgraded. Greens were fast and mostly smooth. Fairways were a bit chewed up in places but what you might expect from a muni that is prone to flooding. Very easy to walk, and will definitely be back to do it again at least until the summer heat hits. Overall course conditions were OK, but not great. The layout, secluded feel, mature trees, and perfect weather helped make it a great day on the course.

It's been a few years since I played this course. Like most reviewers say, the layout is really neat and very different from most local courses. I was concerned with the recent reviews of the course conditions, but for mid-December they were as expected. Mostly dormant grass, and you could tell a few fairways would need some work once growing season came around. The greens were VERY fast and on some holes made the pin positions almost unfair if you were above the hole. We teed off at 1:09pm and just barely finished in the growing gloom. Got a twilight rate that was exactly in line with other local courses, so definitely worth the money we paid.

Maybe the course just hasn't fully recovered from the crazy spring floods? I'm just guessing, but the fairways are mostly dormant/dry/dead, and not at all lush like I used to see on this course. This time of the year you would typically expect really good turf conditions. The greens were hard and fast, but also very patchy especially on the back 9. You get what you pay for sometimes, so at least I only spent $22 on this round.

The day before our round, I saw reviews here that indicated they had re-opened the back 9 after the flooding issues. Well...they had to close it again due to more lake water being released upstream, so we played the front 9 twice. Disappointing, but I understand they are at the mercy of Mother Nature. It was nice that to acknowledge this, we got a few extra bucks knocked off the green fee. The course still needs some considerable healing time. The greens were still very bumpy from recent punching, but were not sandy. The bunkers were not playable at all. It will be awhile before I try this course again because I remember it in much better shape previously.

Perfect weather for golf, course in very good winter shape, greens fast and smooth, friendly staff, what is not to love. This course will be at the top of my list on future trips to this area.

If you can figure out how to chip and putt on greens as hard as a pool table, then you'll probably score better than I did. My whole group struggled mightily with the hard and fast greens.
