Segregansett Country Club
Played On 07/31/2023So good I want to keep it a secret
I have tried to play Seggie once or twice each summer. It is challenging but fair. The tee boxes, fairway, bunkers a greens are well maintained. The staff and members always seem friendly. The rough can be “rough”.
Enjoy the course but not too much as I want to be able to get out there again soon.
Braintree Municipal Golf Course
Played On 07/24/2023Well done
Course in good condition considering recent heavy rains. Rough high which made it harder and increased play time finding that round white thing. Teed off right on time. Greens and tee boxes in good shape. Addition of gps helps with judging distances to hazards. Good value.
Allendale Country Club
Played On 09/18/2019Great Time
The course is fun. Greens tricky.. condition excellent. Just wish I played better. Multiple tees to suit all ages and genders. Nice bar with variety of food opens. They don’t gouge in prices. $2.00 hot dog. Hope to get back again before the leaves and snow starting falling.
Agawam Hunt
Played On 09/04/2019Very Good Challenge
We were greeted well and were able to tee off at the appointed time. There were very few people on the course early in the day. Being a private course there is almost no signage. Doug gave us a brief description of the layout which helped a lot. While the course plays at just over 6000 yards it plays long. Lots of uphills and soft fairways so they ball didn’t run forever. The rough is not high but very “clingy”. Lots of fun and frustration. Other than water and lava on the course there were no amenities for nonmembers. Couldn’t even buy a soft drink. Bring food and beverages!!
The Brookside Club
Played On 06/12/2019Perfect Fay for Golf
Good weather. Course I’m very good. Onfition. Greens true but a bit slow after rain last night. Firm fairways. Very nice course with some interesting doglegs and. Varied elevations.
Segregansett Country Club
Played On 06/05/2019Great Course
Would play it every day if had time and opportunity. Each hole is challenging but you get rewarded for a good shot. Plenty of water. Plenty of sand. Greens are firm and tricky but not overly quick. Hope to be back again soon.
The Brookside Club
Played On 07/12/2018Nice day
Very friendly staff. Felt like they were glad we came. Course in very good condition. Many blind shots. Greens quick and not many flat spots. Course plays a little shorter than yardage. You don’t go by the clubhouse after 9 holes. Would have been nice if they had a cart person. Enjoyed the day.
Wahconah Country Club
Played On 06/18/2018Fun Time with Plenty of Challenges
My wife and I played here and had a great time. There are several sets of tees including an up tee for beginners/short hitters so everyone has a chance. We were allowed to go off early as it was quiet and actually were encouraged by a couple of club members to do so rather than wait when it would get busier prior to our scheduled time. Lots of sand traps but little water to contend with. Fairways are wide and the first cut of rough manageable. greens firm and although they had been sliced a while back were true. Stay below the pin on most holes. Lots of water fountains on course for refreshment. Tee boxes generally in good shape. Each hole gives you the opportunity for a birdie and also a double bogey. A fun opportunity of you are in the area.
Lakeville Country Club
Played On 08/14/2015Average Course
Hadn't played here in more than 10 years. Course hasn't changed much as far as condition and challenge. Playing from the white tees and dry conditions course played short. Greens were generally smooth. Tees boxes in rough shape. Fairways average. Lots of weeds and clover in the rough. Pace of play average for a Friday ( 4 1/2 hours). No starter. Ranger was spraying for something in the tall grass. No bugs or mosquitos!! Plenty of cold drinking water on course. At discount Golfnet the price was fair.
South Shore Country Club
Played On 07/29/2015Enjoyable afternoon
Despite 90 degree temps this course (with a cart) was fun to play. Plenty of cold drinking water available to keep you hydrated. 17 of the 18 greens were perfect. Fairways, tee boxes and cart paths all nicely maintained. Large greens with very few flat spots made placement of approach shots critical. Played in just under 4 hours with the back taking a bit longer. Course plays longer than yardage due to several uphill holes and elevated greens. Pro shop and starter were friendly and there were several rangers on the course but no issues. Playing here in early fall should be fantastic.
Segregansett Country Club
Played On 06/03/2015Excellent Opportunity
Even following a day of heavy rain the course was firm and carts allowed on fairways. Open fairways but plenty of water and sand to protect the greens. Three sets of tees allows for all levels of play. Greens firm and undulating adding to the challenge. Walkable for those that prefer. 4 hour round is easily achieivable on a regular day. Great opportunity to play a private course. Small pro shop with reasonably priced shirts, hats, etc.
Patriots Point Golf Links
Played On 10/12/2014Good Municipal Course
You get good value and an espically noce view of Charleston Harbor on the back nine. Variety of of tees, pin positions make for an interesting round. Assume winds can be variable and make the course play easier or harder. Overall maintained well with decent tees and greens. Sand traps appeared to have different consistencies that made things tricky. More distance markers would help the first timer. Good accessibility to downtown Charleston and decent value for money. Don't compare this to a private or semi-private facilty when considering amenities.
RiverTowne Country Club
Played On 10/10/2014Very Good Choice
RiverTowne gives you a good course at a reasonable price with many of the amenities of a private club. With multiple tees you can play from under 5,000 yuards to over 7,200 yards. The course which apparently changed ownership a few years ago has been maintained well. Puting green and driving range available close to the first tee. Good pro shop with good deals on merchandise. Nocve lounge and locker room. We played then changed for dinner and headed into City. The course has a variety of tight and wide-open fairways, plently of bunkers and some water. 3 puttable large greens with many tiered. The open negative is the rough. Balls sink into the rough and are very ahrd to ID even if right on the edge. Fairways and tee boxes in very good shape. Will come back.
Little Harbor Country Club
Played On 08/15/2014Fun for all
This executive course is very good for newer golfers as it gives them an opportunity to use all their clubs. For seasoned golfers the course offers an opportunity to practice your mid and high irons as well as your putting and chipping. While busy we easily finished in three hours as a foresome. I was impressed by the courteous service of the club pro who introduced us to the couple we were paired with. Obviously the price could not be beat. Good place to play I would guess during the summer where the course benefits from the ocean breezes....
Allendale Country Club
Played On 07/21/2014Very Good Experience
This course is deceptive. While long, the fairways are wide and water can be avoided if you manage your distances and try not to bite off too much. The trick comes when you get around the greens. Large greens mostly sloping back to front but with a lot of subtle breaks. Putts seem to pickup speed going uphill. Makes you want to come back and try to figure it out. Fairways, tees and greens in very good shape. Limited food and beverages on course and we never saw a rest room except back at the clubhouse.
Sandwich Hollows Golf Club
Played On 07/17/2014Good Course for Mid Handicappers
This course is ideal for midhandicappers and those that are not long hitters. The changes in elevation also provide variety in the shots required. After a heavy rain the day before the greens were very slow for the most part and took time getting used to. Wide fairways and no water (on the course) or for drinking. The greens, fairways and tees are generally in good shape. the sand traps, cart paths and some of the staors leading to the greens are in need of attention. My impression was that every hole had the potential for a birdie or a bogie depending on your driving, chipping and putting skills.
Bay Pointe Country Club
Played On 07/07/2014Fun afternoon
The course is in average shape. Greens true but slow. Tee boxes show wear and cart paths have some washout. Variety of terrains and some blind shots make this interesting. Most of par threes are fairly long. The "island green" is more a gimmick than a true challenge. We had a good time with sunny conditions and a strong breeze. 10 degrees cooler here than in Boston. Bring water...only one place other than clubhouse on the course with drinking water.
Pembroke Country Club
Played On 07/02/2014Nice afternoon in Pembroke
We played Pembroke on a very hot afternoon but a storng breeze kept things comfortable. Water available on course. Haven't played here in a few years and noticed an improvment in tees, greens and traps. Still some improvements needed to the cart paths. Course played a bit long and the greens were quick. Limited activity due to heat so we finished (twosome) in less than 4 hours. Will come again in fall.
Kings Way Golf Club
Played On 6/6/2013Good course for a quick round with challenges for all levels.
This was an enjoyable course which had challenges for accuracy, putting and sand play. Not a long course so I would recommend playing it from the "tips". The day we played it was sunny and warm but course was very quiet. I would expect this to be different in the summer. Due to the distance betweem holes and the rolling topography it is better suited for cart golf rather than wagon. Very well maintained tees and greens. Two issues...no drinking water on course and no halfway house for a snack so bring your own supplies especuially if play slows down. The summer peak rates appear high but comparable to other executive courses for the season. Good value at the Golfnow rate.
