Macdonald Linden Hall Golf & Country Club
Played On 11/02/2018Average in all departments.
A Cold day in early November, Average bacon sandwich and coffee = £5. Pace of play was slow on the front 9, stuck behind 2, 4 balls. Waved through on 10th by both sets of 4 balls only to catch up with the slowest 2 ball known to man on 15th!
The course was a bit messy, long walks from some greens to the next tee box. Most tee boxes were brought forward, greens recently timed so not true.
Everything average at best but probably vfm at only £12 for the 18 holes.
Longhirst Hall Hotel & Golf - The Lakes Course
Played On 08/10/2018Good test, take plenty balls!
Two great courses here at Longhurst both a good test. It is quite easy to lose your ball, so it's all about where not to put your shot!
I started with a canny sausage sandwich with proppa broon sauce (HP) then teed off at 10am. The course was in great nick apart from the 17th where the green was covered in geese sh1t and geese who wouldn't budge! That's nature for you I guess! Pace of play was good until 15th where I caught up with a 3 ball who typically would not wave me through and were very slow. Don't be put off though both of Longhursts courses are well worth the visit.
Brampton Golf Club
Played On 08/01/2018Ah the peace and quiet!
Glorious countryside all around this course, quite a good test and a decent bacon sandwich before my round.
Teed off at 10:20am, overcast, slight breeze, but 20 degrees so ideal for golf. If only this gem wasn't 60 miles away! I wouldn't hesitate on joining.
Highly recommended.
Ravensworth Golf Club
Played On 06/13/2018Not the best, not the worst.
Played on a relatively calm day, dry 20 degrees.
The course is a bit all over the place, back and forwards across roads, a little bit messy in places like the 14th. The greens were in decent nick, fairways fairly well kempt.
Started with a coffee and bacon sandwich £4.50p, the coffee was just instant, bacon sandwich not bad.
Longhirst Hall Hotel & Golf - The Dawson Course

Played On 04/23/2018Not the best layout
Played here on a very windy April day. Not impressed at all with the layout which is confusing and not well thought out.
Decent clubhouse with helpful staff, small car park.
There are several much better golf courses up the beautiful Northumberland coast line.
Slaley Hall Hotel & Golf - Hunting Course
Played On 11/07/2017Ah the peace and quiet!
Playing a course like this, that is so far from the madding crowd is positively inspiring!
No traffic noise, no industries, just you, the course and the wildlife. To make it even better, I think that I was the only one out there on the course!
In pretty decent nick considering we are well into November, tidy greens fairways and bunkers. A good test with a number of tricky holes. Highly recommended.
Catering in the hotel is a bit steep though, £3.50 for a small cappuccino and £7 for a bacon sandwich...... ouch!
Hobson Golf Club
Played On 11/01/2017Good value, course a bit messy.
All of the greens were on, many muddy bits with lots of areas roped off, as might be expected for early November. The course has a few tricky holes where you need to know where "not to be"!
Good practice areas and even its own excellent driving range. Would definitely recommend for the price.
City of Newcastle Golf Club
Played On 10/26/2017Decent course. Fairly flat. Not difficult.
I arrived at 10am, tee off time 10:51am. Asked in clubhouse if they could fix me a bacon sandwich, no problem, even though service wasn't available until 11am. Decent sarnie for £3, machine coffee too dear though at £1.50, dearest yet.
Course in decent nick for late October, bunkers lacked a bit of sand and some fairways were a bit water logged in places. Preferred lies helped. Friendly staff and members, would not hesitate to recommend.
Bellingham Golf Club
Played On 10/09/2017A long drive out but worth it.
A cracking course set in beautiful quiet Northumberland. For once I found a course that wasn't busy, so no slow play. Friendly staff, I managed to tee off 40 minutes before my tee time, the round took just 3 hours.
Quite wet conditions even though not much rain of late. Greens ok, bunkers fine, fairways wet. Clubhouse was closed by the time I'd finished, so I had a couple of tasty pies from a bakery in the village! marvellous!
Newbiggin Golf Club
Played On 10/05/2017Avoid days when the seniors are playing!
I started with a coffee and a decent bacon sandwich, spoiled by having brown sauce from an HP bottle, only it wasn't HP sauce!!! Some cheap equivalent ..... very naughty ( kitchen staff ).
A very windy Thursday spent stuck behind several seniors 4 balls and no offer from them to be waved through.
A very picturesque course, a decent challenge with only 2 par 3s and 2 par 5s.
Greens were quite fast, fairways fairly well drained as you would expect on a links course, surprisingly the bunkers could do with a bit more sand in them.
Bedlingtonshire Golf Club
Played On 09/06/2017This is a long course!
A decent day if not a bit windy to play Bedlington, the course was a good test, almost 1500 yards for the first 3 holes! and you know what your in for!
Fairways greens and bunkers all well kempt. My only gripe was that I was stuck behind 3 pensioners who would not wave me through, even though no one was in front of them nor behind me. I got the impression that they did it on purpose. When I was finished they were parking their buggy under the clubhouse and purposely blocked my way through. This to me only confirmed that they did it all intentionally. So a 3.5 hour round ended up being a 4.5 hour round. Etiquette what etiquette?
Morpeth Golf Club
Played On 08/30/2017Undulating Fairways Tiresome.
Decent course, spoilt slightly by undulating fairways which are quite annoying when pushing your trolley!
Only one hole on the clubhouse side, then you cross the road to play the rest of the course.
Whitley Bay Golf Club
Played On 08/23/2017Worst possible day of the summer to choose to play here!
It would be very unfair of me to give bad feedback for this excellent venue but.....
I could not have chosen a worse day to book it!
All of the greens were off due to tining work and the 3rd hole was off altogether!
Teeofftimes informed me the day before my game that 7 greens were effectively off. When I turned up to play the shop assistant told me they were all off and the 3rd hole was closed! This of course ruined the whole experience.
I informed Teeofftimes after my round and they have very kindly given me a credit to play a round for free.
Having played Whitley Bay before I know that it is a great course, so..... hey ho.
Ryton Golf Club
Played On 08/17/2017Potentially Dangerous Layout.
Nice setting, modern clubhouse. When I played I got stuck behind a society outing who would not wave anyone through, and boy were they slow.
The course layout is dangerous, there are at least 2 holes where you could easily be hit by someone driving off. For the experienced golfer this shouldn't be a problem, but......
Other than that the place has a good feel to it.
Warkworth Golf Club
Played On 07/27/2017A 9 holes with 18 tee boxes!
A 9 hole course with 18 tee boxes, meaning that you have to take turns with ie someone playing the 10th while your playing the 1st, and what a tedious experience it is especially if other parties are slow, and weren't they just when I played!
Nobody was there to help at 10am in the morning, no food available either.
It is without doubt a beautiful location, stunning views etc. I know that the 18 holes was only £11, but I honestly could not recommend it. Hey ho.
Whitburn Golf Club
Played On 07/05/2017Fair to middling
Club house and surrounds a bit messy, course fairly unspectacular, not the stiffest of tests but for £14 not bad.
Stocksfield Golf Club
Played On 06/22/2017Pretty course, in good condition.
Arrived on a fine day in June having paid the bargain price of £13. Bacon sandwich ordered around 9.15am, hard to get one these days before 11am unless your a visiting party! Coffee was fairly naff, like most golf clubs who won't invest in a decent machine.
The course was in good Nick, good greens and well kempt bunkers. Nice and quiet out on the course as it's well away from any traffic noise or industries.
Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed.
Beamish Park Golf Club
Played On 06/14/2017All good
Beautiful sunny day in June, started with a bacon sarnie, The more courses I play these days, the harder I'm finding it to get one before 11am! Average machine type coffee.
The course was in excellent condition except for the bunkers which were not great.
Finished off the day with a pint, ham sarnie and chips, and a sit out on the patio to watch people putt out on the 18th.
A nice feel to the place, not sure how I would have felt had it been a rainy day though!
Many thanks
