Compass Pointe Golf Club - North/East Course
Played On 03/08/2017Good golf course
Played this course on an unseasonably warm day but windy in early March. Course staff were friendly and helpful. Pace was a bit slow, there was a threesome two groups up and a twosome of ladies in front of us (we were 2) but we still finished in 4.05.
The course was in decent shape for this time of year and the greens were pretty smooth and true. The fairway grass was dormant and very easy to play from. You have to watch yourself with the tee shot as some of the fairways are canted and the ball will run off, but if you pay attention off the tee you're fine. The rough was very patchy, I got the impression that they'd had issues with it. Overall the North/East is a good layout and a decent challenge if you choose the correct tees for your h'cap level. The Par 5s are long, and on one of them (the 13th) you can't use driver even from the back tees or you'll run out of real estate...don't like that, but it's a minor peeve. 8 and 17 are very good Par 5s . Overall a good solid golf course, and better than average for a public track

Played On 02/11/2015Interesting Track
This course is a pretty good test, particularly if played from the back tees. The tips are 7141 yds but didn't feel that long, except for a couple of Par 3s that were over 200 from the back. The course has several sets of tees though and can be played shorter if desired, and it was firm the day I was there with a lot of roll. The location is pretty and the course was in decent shape the morning I played. I got there before my tee time and asked if I could go off early and the staff were very accommodating. This is a course that needs to be played a couple of times to get a feel for the right lines off the tees, but well worth a visit. I'll be back.

Played On 10/01/2014Well Worth Playing
Played this course as a single, but was paired up with another single. Played from the Blue tees and had a thoroughly enjoyable day. The course is an interesting design with plenty of elevation changes and good variety to the hole designs, both in terms of length and movement. There are one or two unusual doglegs where the line of play isn't readily apparent off the tee. Taking a course guide book is a good idea for first time visitors. The fairways are fairly generous and kept in excellent shape. There is water in play on several holes placed so that bad shots get wet and good ones get rewarded. The greens have quite a bit of movement and at the speed they were the day I played, you don't want a downhill putt on them. Probably rolled 10.5-11 on the few flat spots but 13+ downhill. All in all a good test of golf. Pick the right tees and you'll enjoy this course. I know I'll be back.
Richter Park Golf Course
Played On 6/28/2013Good challenging layout
This is a fine golf course, and challenging from the back tees. There are a few holes that have blind tee shots and taking a quick ride forward in the cart to see where to hit is recommended. Played on a day when there was heavy rain in the morning, and was "path only". Given how wet a couple of fairways on the lower part of the course were, it made sense. The greens were a little slow, but not too much so and it's a public track getting a lot of play, so that's reasonable. The views are great, the course is good and well worth playing.
Dear Golfer,
Thank you for playing Compass Pointe and sharing your feedback. Excited to let everyone know that a lot of seed was planted in the rough areas this fall and there will be a much better playing surface in the spring. Hope to see you back on the links soon!
