Decent for a municipal course

Pros
- good value for money
- short/medium length holes (good for casual/beginner golfers)
- free parking
- greens were in good condition (October)

Cons
- no real on site amenities
- no proper practice area
- dog walkers in and around fairways (very frustrating but happens on municipal. I hit one of few cracking tee shots on a par 3 and a dog ran off with my ball)
- lacking any features / a plain course
- not kept to the standards of a private course

All in all decent for £17.00. Enjoyed it and would return again in the future but won’t rush back.

I actually went over on my ankle playing today, due to a hole in the ground near the 10th green.

If you’re considering it and haven’t played it, it’s a decent course for the money.

Good for beginners

I live about a 10 minute drive from this course is geographically it’s great for me. I wasn’t expecting Augusta but it was half decent.

Pros
- economically priced
- decent greens
- challenging holes
- staff were reasonably friendly
- good parking
- tesco nearby for refreshments

Cons

- Perhaps I’m not the most observant of folk but the layout and general signposting for next tee location is in my opinion, very poor.

- I understand this is a Muncipal course but I played 18 holes today and had 1) a small child run onto the green, pick up my ball and run off. 2) dog walkers walking straight up the fairway 3) general public walking along fairways/generally not being very courteous

All that said, for the price, and distance from where I live, I would return, but only for those reasons.

- people trying their luck at a free game and interrupting yours

Great little 9 hole

This is a great little course. It’s worth noting this isn’t a typical golf ‘CLUB’. There is no pro shop or reception per se etc however there is a bar and you can have a drink Beforehand.

I think £10 for 9 holes is absolutely perfect for a mid week ‘knock’.

The holes themselves are great and there’re a couple of longer holes which offer more of a challenge.

It’s not the easiest to navigate at first, there are several tee off locations are part of the quirky ‘18 hole’ offering, in reality they don’t offer much difference, it’s more or less playing the same hole twice.

I’d highly recommend, if you understand and take it for what it is.

Great course - but not for beginners

I appreciate it’s a fantastic course, nice greens and well looked after.

I personally struggled as a beginner to the sport - the fairways are quite tight and unforgiving. That said it offers a challenge and was certainly character building, if nothing else it has given me more experience in recovery.

If you’re a competent golfer I’m sure this is well worth a visit, I had a great day albeit I left with a high score - due to my own level of ability.
