The short yardage is counter-balanced by fast, tricky greens and several forced carries and hazards. Pace of play can be slow at times, which was a little disappointing. Course requires some local knowledge, so definitely worth playing more than once to see how you'd fare a second time around.

The lack of almost any hazards in play is made up for by tiny greens and narrow fairways. A good opportunity to work on your short game.

The redesign has really opened the course up to all skill levels, but the green re-designs can lead to some diabolical situations. The course is still pretty hard and might take a 12-18 months from it's reopening to become more typically Floridian. The 18th is as sneaky-evil of a par 5 finishing hole as you'll find.

The course has finally softened up after the renovations and you're able to hold the greens. Plenty of attackable holes, but you will still be penalized for errant shots. Now a Par 71, btw, for the folks administering the site.

Fantastic job by the crew having the course in such phenomenal shape after the hurricane.

While the oppressive heat, dry air, and a few sandy reminders exist of where you are, this is basically a parkland style course; pretty flat overall, not a whole lot of danger (only one small water hazard on the whole layout) and due to its age, some shorter holes that have the potential to be taken advantage of. It can be a good break from some of the more challenging layouts in Vegas, but if you're erratic off the tee, some of the long par 4's will bite you.
A Shame It's So Far
Nice open course with some pretty scenic holes and a very fair test. A shame it's so far removed from the nearest city. Couple of the greens are in off-season sand/fertilizer mode.

Holy cow were these greens slick. I took 10 feet out of my first putt and I needed to take out another 10. Course is in excellent shape and the rough has thinned out a little by the cold so you can catch some breaks there. I'd just like them to rig the greens again next time so I can get 3 birdies in 4 holes regularly. Little pricey, but such is life during Snowbird Season.

Some slick and undulating greens are balanced out by fairways that are sneakily wider than they appear from the tee. Strongly recommend sacrificing distance for accuracy, especially with the driver. Won't matter, though, if you can't putt.

Where some courses have let things get outrageously overgrown, waterlogged, and generally poor condition-wise, CCJC has done a job from tee to green. In fact, the fairways might be in as good a shape as they've ever been. Keep up the good work!

Recent torrential rains had drowned much of the course, but while a lot of the fairways were squishy (preventing some of them from being mowed) the greens held up remarkably well. Course was still eminently playable and McCumber's design was his usual high quality. Definitely a course I'd revisit.

I used to think of this course as a hidden gem in the area. Now the rough is overgrown and uneven, there are drainage issues on almost every hole, plastic piping protrudes from the bunkers, and the greens are bordering on muni-ish. They should consult with the TPC and the re-sod they undertook about 7-10 years ago and shut the place down for a bit so they can bring the conditions up-to-date. Right now, there are certainly better options in the area.

Played On 08/25/2015Hard & Fast
Classic straight-line farmland golf. Hard to tell in some places where the fairway ends and the rough begins. Greens are very fast and the ground all over the course is very hard in some places, so think twice before slamming your sand wedge into the turf in frustration after a flubbed shot or your shaft might snap in two. Not an overly-complex test, but can play long if you go off the wrong tees. Still has some quality signature holes like 8, 9, 12, 15, 17, and 18. Could be a 4-star course with a little better groundswork.

Make sure you bring your most-trusted flat stick because there is plenty of undulation on the greens. Good mix of narrow and wide targets, as well as long and short holes. Staff is quality and the surrounding homes are as nice as you'll find ona golf course. Just a top notch experience.
