5 Star Review If Course was in Better Condition

This would be a five star review except for the condition of the course, particularly the greens (lots of dead or dying areas ) and tee boxes. All else was great. Even with the poor course condition, you should still play this unusual layout. Most of the hole here would, on their own, be the most difficult hole on your home coursed.

Great Views, Great Conditions and Great Staff

Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Jr., the Oakcreek Country Club Golf course is great place to play. They have five sets of tees that range from 4,419 to 6,824 yard and is a traditional layout. Holes are routed through tall pine trees with many gentle elevation changes. Bunkers come into play on every hole with strategically placed fairway bunkers. Greens were in exceptional condition when we played in July. Clubhouse staff was friendly and helpful and the starter went out of his way to make our round enjoyable. They have water coolers on about every third hole and a nice grill for eats and drinks at the turn.

A Fun Course for Everyone

Canyon Mesa Golf Course is just fun all golfers, from beginners to scratch players. It’s a par 28 (eight par 3’s and one short par 4), and beautifully maintained. Greens were a bit on the wet side the day we played, but it wasn’t a distraction. We paid to go around the track twice (18 holes), but had to quit after nine because of a flash flood warning. The nice fellow operations the pro shop issued us rain passes, but unfortunately, we did not make it back for the other nine. We would definitely play this course again when in Sedona area.

Great Vacation Golf

If you find yourself anywhere in the Monticello, Utah area, the Hideout Golf Course is a must play. This is one of the most scenic courses in Utah. This course has a lot of elevation changes and some of the holes are bit of a walk, so it is best to take one of their new gas carts. The fairways and greens were in top notch condition when we played here at the end of July. This course has some unique hole designs, and no two holes play the same. There is a lot of local knowledge required to shoot well heee. With that being said, if you play the correct tees for your game and drive the ball straight you should score well. And even if you don’t, you will still enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife.

We Highly Recommend Moab Golf Course

We played Moab Golf Course on a Sunday afternoon and nearly had the course to ourselves; we only saw a couple other golfers the whole time. The clubhouse staff here were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The front nine is more scenic then the back nine and both were in very good condition. Lots of elevation changes on the front nine while the back nine is flatter. Lots of wildlife, including wild turkeys. Overall, a very enjoyable golf outing.

Good Course, NOT the Friendliest Staff

We play Meadow Brook Golf Course every Thursday and have found the course to be consistently maintained with very good greens and excellent sand in the sand traps. The front plays longer than the back, but both sides have some interesting holes. They have some of the best practice facilities in the valley and a good restaurant on site. Overall, it is an enjoyable course that we would recommend. The club house staff is NOT THE FRIENDLIEST you will find and don’t seem to care if you play here or not, but this does not keep us from coming back weekly.

Well Manicured, VERY BUSY Golf Course

Davis Park golf course is known locally as being one of the busiest courses in the state and on Wednesdays, Men's association days, the course will be filled from morning to evening. If you do get a tee time during their busy hours, expect SLOW play. Most golfer here are courteous and do keep up, but with the number of golfers the pro-shop sends out, there is usually nowhere to go. The course is not particularly long or difficult and is always very well groomed. Recent stormed blew over hundreds of trees, which has actually improved the course and increased the speed of play here. Pro-shop staff is always friendly and will do their best to get you on (of course, this is what leads to the slow play). Overall, nice course, just be very patient if you play here.

Great Customer Relations

We always hit a few buckets of balls, get a bite to eat and play a warm-up round on the par-3 when we arrive in Las Vegas; a great way to start our golf trips. On this trip, our flight was delayed for several hours and we missed our non refundable prepaid tee time. However, Kenneth, one of the managers on duty, was more than happy to accommodate us when we showed up 5 hours late. Nice job Kenneth and TaylorMade. It's this type of management that keeps us coming back.

We enjoyed playing the Lakes course in the middle of winter.

This was our second trip to Primm Valley golf club; the first time we played the Desert course and this time we played the Lakes course. The two courses have very similar undulating greens and hole designs (routing and elevation changes). The main difference between the two layouts is the fairways. The lakes course has much more generous landing areas and more trees, water and vegetation lining the holes. If you are a straight hitter, you won't have any problems on either course, but if you play with a wee-bit of a hook or slice, you'll find the Lakes course more forgiving. Both courses have sculpted fairways that direct errant balls back towards the middle of the fairways. Because of the wider fairways and trees, the Lakes course looks more green and lush, which is probably why it gets better reviews. However, we did not find any difference in scoring on the two courses and have had a great time playing both. The fairways and greens were in very good shape for December 23rd, but other parts of the course seem to be lacking in maintenance, such as rough areas and particularly the green side sand bunkers. The sand bunkers have about 1/4 inch of sand sprinkled over a rock hard bottom. You'll quickly learn to play a ball out of the sand like you are chipping off hard pan. Try a normal sand shot and you'll likely find yourself on the other side of the green from the sand wedge bouncing off the hard bottom into your ball. Overall, I don't believe either course is worth their regular full rate, but for the rate we found on GolfNow, we enjoyed playing the Lakes course in the middle of winter.

Hi gollywoggy,

Thank you for playing at Primm Valley Golf Club. We are happy to hear you have played both of our courses, and it is great to see you identify the similarities and differences. We appreciate your feedback in regards to the bunkers, as this helps us make improvements for future golfers. We are also happy to hear you were able to find a great rate as we frequently run specials. We hope you will be back at either one of our courses for another round soon.

Best Wishes,

This is a Fun Golf Course!

Desert Pines is the perfect course if you're looking for a fun course that won't beat you up. This is not one of those new 7200 yard courses that demand your full attention and effort. Instead, at 6200 yards from the tips, and with lots of interesting hole designs, this is a fun course to play. The three golfers in our group; a 4 handicap senior, a 10 junior and a 0 handicap female college golfer, all had a great time from the black tees. The course is very well maintained and has interesting sand and water features. We played six different courses in Las Vegas this week and Desert Pines has the best greens we played.

A Bad Experiance from Start to Finish

We paid for 18 holes with cart on GolfNow and had a 12:30 tee time booked. When we arrived at the course at 12:00 and checked in we were told by a very unfriendly young man that the front nine would be closed from 12:00 to 1:00 and that they would fit us in on the back where they could with the rerounds. The problem was there was no room on the back with the very crowded rerounds. Of course the groups making the turn were not happy because they were already having a slooooow round and now we would make things worse. This was unfair to those who were playing 18 and unfair to us. After a very slow first nine we were routed to the front nine to finishe our 18 holes and found ourselves directly behind a tournament playing a scramble format. No one in the pro shop told us we would be rerounding behind a tournament. When we went back to the pro shop to talk to them about the situation, they told us to just find some empty holes to play. We were only able to play 3 more holes, without interfering with other golfers. So our round consisted of 12 of 18 holes. They certainly did not care about the quality of golf they were providing us. Maybe they do not like GolfNow bookings or they just have poorly trained staff. Overall, a disappointing, partial round of golf.

Excellent value for a very good course

The Barn golf course is an excellent value for a very good condition course and a course that is a lot of fun to play. This course has three tee boxes (blue, white, red) and each plays at a medium length from their respective distance; the blue (back tees) play at 6200 yards. Excellent fairways and nice firm greens will give you plenty of scoring opportunities if you keep your ball in the fairway. This course does play along and through rows of houses, but with the exception of #nine tee box, it is not too intrusive. There is a nice variety of hole designs with the front nine fairly open fairways and the back nine being much tighter fairways requiring more precise drives.

If you're looking for a well designed course with a good quality staff and fair price, give Primm Valley a try.

We played the Primm Desert Course on 12/16/2013 and found the course well worth the 40 minute drive from Las Vegas. The cold weather over-seeding had not filled in yet, so there were some thin spots, but this was a minor issue and all other aspects of the course were just fine. Greens were excellent for this time of year. If you're one of those golfers who is more concerned with being pampered than playing golf, then go to Shadow Creek, if you're looking for a well designed course with a good quality staff and fair price, give Primm Valley a try.
