Chicopee Woods Golf Course - Village Nine
Played On 06/04/2022The course is in fantastic shape!
It was nice to play here again with the course lush and green. The rough was up and made it more challenging coming from courses where that has not been the case. The greens were smooth and rolled true. The Started calls your group ahead of time so that things can start on schedule. My one complaint would be with the Rangers/Marshalls. While friendly, they don't seem to do anything to keep the pace of play moving. They just smile, wave, and drive by... yet on one Par 3, there was a group heading toward the green with two groups on the tee box. We waited on every shot all day. That's just unacceptable!
Chicopee Woods Golf Course - Village Nine
Played On 04/02/2022Left disappointed...
I have reviewed Chicopee Woods previously and would still rate the layout and staff, with the exception of the Ranger, as great; however, the greens were very slow again this time which impacts my Course Conditions rating. Additionally, the Ranger did nothing to move the group in front of us along and we waited on them on every hole... all day! They were at least a hole behind because they were playing from tees beyond their golfing abilities. It resulted in a five hour round and left our group disappointed as we rightfully expect more at this price point and on a weekend.
Tanasi Golf Club
Played On 03/29/2022Very nice "American" course
The Tanasi course is one of the three courses in Tellico Village. It is what some call an "American" course - wide fairways with generous landing areas. I played two weeks after the bentgrass greens had been aerated and still found them to roll quite true. The bunkers were full of sand, although some had not been raked that day and were firm! The Bermuda fairways and rough were starting to green up, so when added to the greens recovering nicely, play here should be very enjoyable in another two weeks. There are multiple tee boxes to suit almost any golfer. the one drawback I found was no range to warm up which is due to space limitations. Otherwise, this is a top notch course!
Governor's Towne Club
Played On 12/17/2021Always enjoyable
This is a course you will want to play repeatedly. It is largely open and varying in elevation leading to a variety of lies that will challenge all golfers. The greens are fairly large and relatively flat, but always in great condition. The holes also vary in length and direction (left to right, right to left…). The staff are pleasant and the Starter runs a tight ship getting people organized and off on time.
Chicopee Woods Golf Course - Village Nine
Played On 10/23/2021The greens were sloooooow!
Our group always enjoy playing here, but we were disappointed in how slow the greens were relative to a few weeks ago. We struggled getting the ball to the hole all day which impacted our scores and enjoyment. Otherwise, the course was in great shape and the greens rolled true. The Starter is great and always welcoming. I also love that he calls you well in advance, so you get to the first tee on time. Simply put - it's a great course, but the unexpectedly slow greens kept me from giving the course a five star rating.
Thank you for taking the time to review us. Your feedback is valuable, and we appreciate your business. Chicopee Woods Golf Course - School Nine thanks you!
Hampton Golf Village
Played On 10/09/2021Wet, wet, wet!
The course was in good shape other than being wet from dew, days of rain, and runoff from that rain. We teed off shortly after 8am and by 10am or so some greens were starting to dry which changed their speed and made them inconsistent from one hole to the next. The bunkers were full of sand and the rough was enough to slow your ball, but not make it unfindable or unplayable. It was the first time playing this course for my three partners and all said they'd like to play it again when it is not so wet to require "cart path only."
Chicopee Woods Golf Course - Village Nine
Played On 10/02/2021Spectacular greens!
The fairways are relatively wide and you generally have a fairly level stance which is surprising given the topography of the course. The bunkers were in good shape and the sand was very nice to play from, if you put yourself there. The greens were near perfect - firm, fast, and smooth - some of the best I have seen this year! We were off on time, but the group two ahead of ours lagged, so we waited on almost every shot on the front nine. A ranger came by and the pace improved on the back nine. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The bratwurst in the clubhouse dining room was excellent!
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Chicopee Woods Golf Course - School Nine.
Ashton Hills Golf Club
Played On 09/18/2021Greens were nice!
The greens were nice - firm and fast! The rest of the course was unevenly wet from recent rain with some shots off firm turf and some off soggy turf. Cart Path Only meant a lot of walking back and forth, but was needed given the moisture in the ground. Tee boxes and fairways were fine. It's a very straightforward layout, but I never seem to play well here and am not sure why. I guess I'll have to try again...
Heritage Golf Links - Legacy Nine
Played On 07/24/2021On the upswing!
I play here regularly and the conditions have improved. There are a few tee boxes where the grass is still sparse, the greens could be a bit quicker (and smoother if more golfers fixed their divots), and some bunkers need rebuilt, but they are almost all playable and better than they were 4-6 weeks ago. That may not be the case a day or two after heavy rains, but that warning applies to most courses. You have to play here early or it will be a long, slow round. The course plays longer and is more challenging than many realize, so they head to the Blue tees and then can't reach most Par 4s in two shots which slows everyone down.
Turkeyfoot Lake Golf Links - Water 9
Played On 07/10/2021A challenge to rate...
I struggled to rate this course between 3 and 4. I gave it the 4 as the conditions were spectacular - tee boxes, greens, fairways, and rough were all in excellent shape. What I struggled with are the layout (it felt like the course was forced into a space that was too small with a major road dividing the front and back nines) and the odd hole lengths - at least two 290 yard Par 4's, a 460 yard Par 4, while most of the Par 3's were long - 175-225 yards. There are back-to-back Par 5's at 550+ yards from the back tees. The 18th green finishes almost in the clubhouse where errant shots seem to arrive regularly. It's great track for a fun round with friends; otherwise, I'd be trying others in the area.
Governor's Towne Club
Played On 06/30/2021Back again!
This course will lead you to return as it is in great shape, fun to play, and challenging for pretty much anyone at any level. It's generally a wide course, but has its moments. The greens are great and roll true, although they were considerably slower than the practice green today. The sand traps need to be raked before play (they were not), so that would be my one improvement as they were firm from sprinklers wetting them down and challenging to escape.
Ashton Hills Golf Club
Played On 06/18/2021Awesome greens
Not only were the greens green and firm, they were fast! There is a lot of the course marked as Ground Under Repair - mostly along the cart paths and around the edges, but the rest is in fantastic shape. It's a nice mix of long and short and holes that bend in both directions or just go straight. It had been a while since I had played Ashton Hills and I am glad we went back... and will do so again.
Woodmont Golf & Country Club
Played On 06/11/2021Hopefully not the last time...
This was my first time playing Woodmont, but hopefully not my last. There is activity underway to take the club private, so it may not be available to the public at some point. The club championship is being held this weekend, so the course was primed and readied - the rough was up and the greens were quick. The sand is white and fluffy which is a welcome change over many other local courses. Overall, the conditions were excellent, even with all the rain we've had lately. Even with it being Cart Path Only, it was an enjoyable round and one that made me want to come back.
Cherokee Run Golf Club
Played On 06/05/2021Similar to last time
This is a great course layout. The two par 5s on the front are three shot holes - period. Actually, #8 may be more if you cannot draw your tee shot around the corner. The tee boxes were HARD - I broke two tees trying to get them in the ground. The sand is inconsistent in depth which makes some shots more challenging. I putted out of a waste area behind a par 3 because there wasn't enough sand to get a club under the ball. Beyond that, the fairways and greens are spectacular. And the food in the clubhouse was great! Try the homemade chips!
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement such as tee box and bunker improvements. Thank you for playing Cherokee Run Golf Club.
The Chimneys Golf Course
Played On 06/03/2021No notice of top-dressed greens
Driving 40 miles to play a course doesn't bother me... except when I get o the first green and discover that the greens have been top-dressed with sand and no one said a word about it - when making the tee time by phone or when checking in. We paid full price and got less than full value. This is a nice course - not overly challenging with the second nine being the easier of the two by far, but these type of business practices make me question whether I will return.
Reunion Country Club
Played On 06/01/2021Keep it on the correct side
Having played Reunion more than once, you quickly learn that the course is not tight, but strategically tight - shots near the edge or on the wrong side will roll off leaving a poor lie at best or in a penalty area at worst. You have to put the ball on the correct side of the fairway or green or suffer the consequences. The course today was green and in great shape. The greens were slower than the practice green which threw us off for 3-4 holes. The sand was white and fluffy - something I hadn't seen in a while and it showed. I never score well here, but that's on me.
Cherokee Run Golf Club
Played On 05/14/2021Why not 5 stars?
The golf course was in great shape and we played 18 holes in 3:15... and never felt like we were hurrying. What was frustrating were the inconsistencies... in the speed of the greens and of the sand in the bunkers. The practice green was like putting on glass as were several holes and then on other holes the ball stopped while going downhill. We couldn't get a read right most of the day. In addition, the sand in the bunkers was largely the same (a heavier brown mix) and then a few holes it was white and almost like granular sugar that just exploded under the ball when struck... which meant the ball went nowhere. I really like playing Cherokee Run and will be back, but wanted to give feedback that would make the next round more enjoyable.

St. Marlo Country Club
Played On 12/10/2020Course was great and cart paths are improving
I read recent reviews commenting about the condition of the c art paths and they were accurate - there were some really rough spots. The good news is a number of bad spots have already been addressed and many more are underway. This resulted in some rerouting of carts through the grass during the round, but it did not hold up play at all. The course itself was in great shape and the greens were firm, smooth, and fast. We had a beautiful day for December and enjoyed our round. We will be back!
Chicopee Woods Golf Course - Village Nine
Played On 11/13/2020A great day!
The weather was great and it was Master's Week!! The course was in great shape and offers a mix of holes -long, short, left-to-right, right-to-left... The bunkers were in decent shape considering the amount of rain earlier in the week. We cruised along until a threesome slowed us down on the last four or five holes. We had seen the Ranger several times earlier, so we were surprised when this was allowed to occur. Other than having to wait several times on this group. it really was a great day!
Thank you for your great rating, TerryLee553. We will pass along your positive experience to our team here at Chicopee Woods Golf Course - School Nine. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Jennings Mill Country Club
Played On 11/10/2020Worth the trip!
Jennings Mills is 75 minutes from my house and was worth the trip. The course was in great shape. The greens were firm and fast... even with the persistent drizzle through out the round. Given their firmness and speeds, I probably should have moved up a set of tees to have less club in and increase stopping power. In most cases, you had to land the ball short and let it roll up. Fairways were equally nice with just a few thin tee boxes where improvements were already underway. The bunkers were excellent - full, consistent, and penal... as they should be, The layout is varied with a mix of left-to-right and right-to-left holes and long and short holes. It's quite a drive from my house, but I'd do it again to enjoy another round at Jennings Mills.
