Glenview Park Golf Club
Played On 10/08/2017Nice public course for the area
Much like many of the courses in the North Shore the design demands accuracy. The fairways are typically narrow. Holes are situated next to each other. An errant shot can easily result in either another fairway, green or tee box. Our foursome played it at 5,900 yards. Although typically that distance is not long it is definitely a benefit to have solid carry. The conditions promoted little fairway roll. Course layout is challenging especially for first timers. Pace of play is enforced with rangers, but there were a few holes where we waited a couple minutes. I would be willing to play there again. The only con is that there is no driving range.
Beckett Ridge Country Club
Played On 04/24/2016Very good public course
Previously a private course it is now public. The staff have maintained the conditions to keep the greens fast and true. The fairways will provide a great lie while the rough penalizes bad shots. The layout is very challenging. The next time I'm in town sill definitely play it again.
Bonnie Brook Golf Course
Played On 9/22/2013Slow pace but still worth playing
3 of us had a tee time for a Sunday at 12:50pm. Unfortunately the pace was already running 30 minutes late, and throughout the round there was a wait on every hole. It would of certainly helped if there was a couple rangers regulating the pace. However a golfer can't expect much on a weekend afternoon when many of the seniors and novices are on the course. Otherwise, Bonniebrook is in good condition and the greens run pretty fast. Must say a couple holes on the backside are, lack for a better word, weird. Would certainly play it again given some of its misgivings, and use it as a benefit instead by choosing to walk.
Mission Hills Club
Played On 9/2/2013Good value for the location
Finding 18 holes of golf in the north shore area under $65 with cart is rare, and when I saw a offer for $40 thought it was certainly worth a try. Went there on labor day with a couple friends. The tee time was before noon and were paired with a single who was a member years ago when the course was private. Good thing he was with us. There are several locations where the following hole is not adjacent. Apparently the course was built around a previous development. Compounding the situation the scorecard does not show the course layout, and there are no signage that provide direction. I would not be surprised if there were groups that day who missed their next hole. The only other criticism I would have is that some of the tee boxes need attention. Otherwise the course is quite tight and challenging. The greens and fairways are in good shape. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Given the location and what we paid for would most likely play there again.
