The Club Renaissance
Played On 11/25/2021Good value
This track must have been a looker when it first opened. Not sure when that was but it’s a bit tired now. Still, greens are good, sand is so-so, and fairways are good enough.
It should be said we played it just after fairways were top seeded and 3 holes were wet as sprinklers ran overnight.
The cart paths spotted some large cracks so just go slow.
A very good lay out.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Try it once. Good luck.
Stonecrest Golf Club
Played On 11/12/2021This course needs to do better
At $32.00 a round you can find many courses more deserving of your money. It’s a shame because the layout and club house are good. Greens were infested with weeds (crab grass?) which often redirected puts. That’s not hyperbole. Some greens had sections of soil plowed with seed. The fairways were decent though would benefit with an application of herbicide.
This course was recommended by a staff member at Orange Blossom in The Villages. Should have done some homework as it was not in the same league as Eagle Ridge as he suggested. Our bad.
For the foreseeable future I will not play this track.
Please do better.
Old South Golf Links
Played On 10/29/2021Hiding in Plain View
After playing 7 similarly priced courses (one 50% more) in the area this track is a league above. Played it Oct 11 and today. A big rain day Thurs so cart path only today and a bit fuzzy on several greens as mowers couldn’t do them all.
Fairways, fringe and greens in top condition. Wear shows on White tee blocks as they are most used.
Not the longest track but if you don’t hit them straight then it doesn’t matter.
Hats off to the owners. You could charge more and I would happily pay.
To first-timers, I suggest you play this first and then try others around Bluffton and HHI and leave time to play it again before you leave. Enjoy.
Old South is a real jewel among many courses with much higher fees. We hope to stay on your "must play" list and that you get another round in soon. Thanks for the 5 stars.
Galleon/Brigantine at Shipyard Golf Club
Played On 10/25/2021A tried and tested must-play
Since I last played in 2018 the greens have entered Very Good territory. Great roll, great condition. After the first cut though the rough can be tight, at times because the grass is bare. More sod replacement would help.
Played after heavy rain so cart path only.
Many dog legs are rewarded with accurate ball positioning. Many holes are straight away and level. If you don’t like sand you’ll need to hit them high and straight. Plenty of water for wayward shots.
A fair test of golf and a very pleasant amble through mature trees and established community. For the money a good value.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave a very detailed and accurate account of Shipyard Golf Club! Thank you for playing.
The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes

Drove from bottom of HHI and was happy we did. Good conditions ON FAIRWAYS AND GREENS compared to same green fee structure on HHI. Front 9 it’s bombs away, 2nd 9 closer to Parkland style with tighter fairways and rewards for hitting them straight. Long roll outs on fairways. Greens hold (if you come in high) and roll well.
Walked into club house to sign in - seemed organized and clean. Driving range - grass decks, full length, chipping area and putting green good layout. Score card photo-copied so green and red yardage was difficult to read. Water stations and bathrooms in the right places
If you plan to play 4-5 courses over 7 days this place is worth the drive and good value for money.
Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run
Played On 10/17/2021Average (Golden) Bear
At $45.00 you get what you pay for: tired fairways more often than not, tee boxes pounded into dirt, tree debris strewn about, and bunkers with sand and small gravel.
We played on a Sunday so no surprise play was slow. And to be fair the course had been over-seeded and the 90 degree rule governed cart use. Result:slow play.
Teed off at 2pm and at the turn NOBODY was in the clubhouse or if they were they were hiding.
Contrary to the above, the greens actually rolled well and were in good condition. The course has good bones but it appears a long time has passed since its glory days.
Thank you for leaving us a review. We are sorry to hear your experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you will give us another try in the future. Thank you for choosing Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run.
Bear Creek Golf Club
Played On 10/14/2021Bit less than average
First time back since 2017 and 2018. In all fairness this track sees a lot of rounds. What it doesn’t receive is tlc to help it recover
Fairways were scuffed up. Divots left by golfers don’t get repaired by staff from what I saw today. Greens were hairy and slow. First cut around greens played like Velcro. Traps ranged from hard pack to good. It’s too bad because the course has good bones.
For another 10-15 dollars there are a handful of other tracks in better shape. Old South for example.
Palm Harbor Golf Club
Played On 10/10/2021Great value for money
Good challenging track. Sees many rounds so course shows wear. Fairways at times very tight. Greens generous and undulating. A fun course.
But if you are looking for lush fairways & fast greens go elsewhere. For the money - can’t complain.
beautiful golf course/property
course layout was challenging but fair. Where holes were short fairways were narrow while longer holes had generous fairways. greens were often undulating but with large landing areas. fairway grass was well clipped and in good condition. greens were clipped but sported different grass/weeds where sand had infilled recent aeration. scoring will favour straight drives and correct length into greens.

Glacier Greens Golf Club
Played On 10/14/2020good value for money
wet fairways, had not been cut in several days. very little roll on drives for example.
undulating greens were in great shape, well drained, good roll
did not hit into any bunkers so cannot comment on sand.
overall a nice, mature, track - members are fortunate.
