Do not expect a 4 hour round at this course. They allow walking the course and we took 4:55 for 18 holes. What was really, really annoying is being on the tee box of #12 with three groups ahead of you on that hole and the GPS computer warns you that you are 25 minutes behind and if you don’t speed up, you’ll be asked to skip a hole to get back in position. Too many warnings and advisories kept coming up on the very over programmed computer including a speed warning of doing 4 mph in a 10 mph zone. Very, very frustrating to say the least. Also, cart shut down three times in areas with no cart signs in place. Yardages from GPS were very helpful and could speed up play except for slow walkers in front of riding carts holding everything up. Please, please have rangers work on slow groups that fall out of position and reprogram the computers to reduce all the distractions.

Rock Barn has two courses, Jones and Jackson. There was a CGA tournament on the Jones and we played the Jackson. You could tell on the first hole that the Jackson course had been neglected while all the staff worked on the Jones to get it ready for the CGA. The rough grass was so high that you could not find your ball, much less make a playable shot out of it. The bunkers were washed out from recent rains and the greens had bare fungus spots on them. About half of the tee markers were missing with only one marker when there should be two. We were thinking of joining this club, but judging from the poor conditions, we think that Rock Barn must be in financial trouble and in need of more staff and equipment to properly maintain what was once a premier club. If they are still going to offer outside play on the Jackson course, green fees should be halved until they get the course in playable condition. I have played both courses several times and won tournaments on both courses, but it makes me sad to see the Jackson in such bad shape. Please put in the time, effort, and resources to get this course back in the shape it once was. Sorry to have to write this honest review. Good luck!

San Ignacio has become my favorite course in Green Valley. Starts with friendly staff meeting you at the bag drop to take your clubs. Only course in Green Valley that has coolers on the golf carts with ice already placed inside. There is a snack bar located outside beside the practice putting green for golfers easy access. The course and greens are in good shape and the layout is fun to play. The sand traps are the weakest part of this course as with all the courses in GV. For the money, however, SI provides the best value by far over any other course in GV. Since SI has become so popular, pace of play may be an issue, but I have learned on slow days to divert attention to the fantastic views the course has on every hole. If you are looking to enjoy a drink or dinner after play, there is a big outdoor patio to enjoy along with great food both inside and out. Give SI a try, you won’t be disappointed.

It got up to 91 with a heat index of 100! There was no beverage cart. Thought I was going to have to quit due to lack of hydration, but made it all 18 without passing out. The lady who was to drive the beverage cart was told to stay in and run the bar. Bar person did not show up. After the round, I purchased a small bottle of water for $2.25. Not impressed with this situation. However, the golf course was great and in good shape. Carts had GPS that is over programmed with ads and warnings. Carts were restricted in too many places to get good readings on distance. I will try to come back this fall with cooler temperatures. Bermuda greens were in good shape. Definitely worth your time and money!

Question policy of not putting clubs on a cart until 5 minutes from tee time. Was made to ride with a stranger, yet no water jugs on course due to COVID protocol? Water was cutoff at course restroom due to maintenance waiting on a part. Mowers did not display proper etiquette. When done, no staff helped with our clubs and had to walk mine about 200 yards to my car. Course layout was great and in good shape. With a little training of the staff and starters to be more friendly and accommodating, this course would be much more enjoyable. Food and service in the clubhouse was good. With no water provided on the course, we saw a beverage cart twice the first nine and not at all on the second nine. Time to service the water stations again.

I have played the Jackson course many times and today it was in the best shape that I have ever seen! We saved $13 + tax by booking through GolfNow and right now you cannot find a better value. Totally impressed!

If you are afraid to play as a single and have to ride with a stranger, San Ignacio has the answer with newly installed cart dividers. I still wore my mask in the cart, but the plastic dividers give an extra sense of protection from COVID issues. The course is in great shape and has the best greens in Green Valley. Awesome views of the mountains alone make SI worth the investment of time and money. If you have never played this course, you won’t be disappointed. Plan on having your picture taken on the 13th tee that has a breathtaking view of the Santa Rita mountains! Have fun and enjoy!

Took us 4:40 today, and they have a ranger, but he did nothing to speed up play. Had four groups on three of the par 5s (#9 & #11 & #18). Need a ranger program that is more proactive. Otherwise, fun course to play and greens are much improved over last year. Carts do not have coolers, but we saw a beverage cart one time on the front side only.
