Disappointing

I have played this course once or twice a year during visits to the area. The course conditions were the worst ever. The greens were bumpy, slow and inconsistent. Staff was friendly. But they allowed a five-some on the course which took the pace of play to a snail's pace with two groups sometimes waiting on the tee box behind then. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. This could be a nicer course with better greens maintenance and more attention to pace of play.

Getting Worse

I have played Moss Creek four times this year since May and each time course conditions are worse. The greens are now slow, bumpy -- and worst of all inconsistent. The bunkers are filled with crabgrass and other vegetation and in very poor shape. Only the fairways are still decent. But the rough is overrun with white clover blooms making it extremely difficult to find a white golf ball. Very frustrating--and it makes for slow play. This facility looks to be on a downward spiral: poor course conditions, which leads to fewer players, which leads to less money for course maintenance. If someone does not step up and improve this course, it may soon be a goner.

My favorite course

Reid North's mature trees and hilly terrain make it both scenic and challenging. (Slope rating 129 from the men's regular tees). Each hole has its own character and poses a unique test of golf skills. The greens are well maintained and most of the fairways as well. The rough can be dicey but that's part of the challenge of the course. It has to be one of the best city courses in Ohio.

Lofty aspirations unfulfilled

The developers of Moss Creek appear to have had lofty aspirations for the course. Beginning with it's designation as a Chi Chi Rodriguez "signature" course (pretty much just paying Chi Chi to lend his name to the project), they set out to create a premier golf facility that would enhance the prestige and value of the houses built around the course. Seems somewhere along the way, they ran out of money. The golf course itself has the makings of a first-class layout, But the pro shop is a shabby little building alongside a trailer that passes for a restaurant. Worst still, the layout of the course is very hard for a first time player to figure out. The website and score card offer no real layout of the holes, many of which feature blind t-shots and approaches. Even some of the "tombstone" hole layouts on the holes are missing. As a first-time player on the course, I found it a somewhat frustrating experience. It's a shame because the course itself is in decent shape and is a good test of golf.
