Carriage Greens Country Club
Played On 07/21/2019Completely Mis-managed Severe Weather
I went to this course on a Sunday and before we started, severe lightning started to strike in the area. I asked if we should go out based on the radar, and was met with a “if you want to”. Lightning stuck close as we approached the tee box, so we turned around and sat in the clubhouse as the severe weather hit. The two men, that appeared in charge, seemed nonchalant about the fact that they had golfers, starters, and cart girls on the course during the storm. There was no action to blow a siren or alert anyone to seek shelter. The two men continued to watch the British open as patrons came rushing in from the storm. I told them I saw lightning multiple times and they ignored me.
Fortunately, they refunded our round since we never started. When I asked golf now to give me back my convenience fees, they called the course, and the one of the two men, I assume, told golf now that it WAS PLAYABLE.
It is ludacris that they allowed people to play in severe weather and even more absurd that they would deem it playable. It’s 9 dollars down the sink only, but I can assure you a mistake like this is going to cost this club a lot more when someone gets hurt. Those two men have no business running a shop like that. I will never return to this club.

It took us 7 hours to play 18. The course was jam packed.

I approached the starter stand 15 minutes before my tee time. The man asked for my name, which i provided, and he quickly glanced at his tee sheet, pointed his finger in my face and said loudly, raising his hands, "YOU ARE ON THE TEE." I told the man that my tee time was scheduled for 12:40 PM, and that I had 15 minutes to be on the tee, and that I would be ready at that time. I walked away as he mumbled beneath his breath. I bought some food from the clubhouse and came back to find that the starter had changed shifts with someone new, and had shared the false information with the new starter about my group. I got the 3rd degree from the new starter, regarding my tee time. He sternly talked to me about etiquette and timeliness without allowing me to say a word. I asked him to please listen, and he finally let up. We reviewed his tee sheet together and noticed that the group before ours also was under the name "Chris", and that was the group that had been late.
The starter did not apologize for his mistake. Rather, he said that I had 5 minutes to be on the tee (5 feet away) and turned inward, away from the window, his back to me.
This experience alone is enough to say I will not go back. I interacted with two starters in ten minutes who were completely unprofessional. The staff was condesending, demanding, and unapologetic. It was one of the worst encounters I have had with someone in a service role.
I was in the shop the day you tried to play buddy. You are responsible to check the weather. The course doesn't have any liability for your inability to know what's going on with the weather. I heard the one guy say, if it were me no I wouldn't go out. And yet you went out. This wasn't a mishandled proshop regarding weather. This was simply you not hearing what you wanted and now blaming the course for your ignorance.
