Soggy Times

It really isn't very fair to rate this course in regard to the day we played. Had been raining for two days and the course was extremely wet. In fact, no matter where the ball landed, there was a splash. In spite of the conditions, the greens were actually a little hard, but rolled very smooth. Tee boxes were is good shape, and without so much water, the fair ways would have had some smooth and good roll too. Greens have some movement, which I like. Doesn't help my score any though. For a duffer like me, this course has just enough length to be challenging and fair. One of the courses (there are three 9's) was closed. The two we played have no bunkers, but enough trees and water hazards to make up for it.

The Future is Scary

I always expect great conditions on this course. Greens were hard, but they rolled very true, as usual.
Fairways in decent shape, given the time of year. Here's the twist - new bunkers being built on a few holes, in very strategic locations. I hit my usual drives and ended up in three bunkers that weren't there a few weeks ago. Also, there's a new pond just left of #10 green. So, go too far right, you are in the trees, too far left, either in the pond or having the go over the pond and hit a very shallow green. Hit a 3 or 5 wood from the tee. You will be glad you did.

Fun Course

Fun course with just enough challenge for the 10 handicapper and above. Rough is deadly. I like all the areas that have been turned into grass lands that used to just be ugly. Stay on the right side of the fairway for your second on the par 5 seventh.

Just Wait a While, you'll see.

I believe this course has great potential. Most fairways are in pretty good shape, but don't drain well. Greens made the round worth the trip. Ball rolled well and held a well struck wedge. Rough was thick and sometimes punitive even if you were just barely off the fairway. Several trees are placed perfectly to complicate an approach shot if your drive is not accurate. Many of the cart paths are terrible. Several of the tee boxes are struggling.
Water in the coolers was not very cold. All the bunkers were in good shape, even after the rain. You could tell the staff is working hard with the grounds. I'll be back.

Forget Your Putter

Greens on course #1 are suffering greatly Probably why my green fee with cart was only $10. It does look like the crew is working diligently to fix the greens. All in all, the poor greens didn't effect my score that much. Fairways and tee boxes were just fine.

Duffer's Delight

Have always enjoyed playing The Bridges at Firewheel. My favorite is the Champions and the Masters. My opinon is that the Par 3, second hole on the Masters course is the most dangerous for the duffer. Long is really bad. Short right is impossible.
So, the miss is short left. The courses are always in good condition from tee box to green. In the summer months, beware of the rough, even just off the fairway.....brutal.
