The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort
Played On 03/10/2020So cool
Every time I play at King and Prince, I have nothing but good to say about it. The layout is interesting, beautiful and challenging. The island could use some rain, but the vistas remain spectacular especially out at the vast marsh holes. The fairways are well mowed and the green are in great shape with many taxing undulations to show skills or frustrations. Highly recommended.
Sea Palms Golf & Tennis Resort
Played On 02/17/2020Cloudy day on a clear course
This is the first time I have played this course since it was newly renovated. The facilities and the carts are impressive. It is still a long course, but it is now wide, because the rough has been neatly cut back. For now it’s easy to find your balls wherever they land. On the short fairways they get a good roll. The greens are beautiful, but will probably need some time to have mature roots. The tees are spread out and the whites are moved back somewhat. The par 3s are challenging and the bunkers have soft sand. One frustration was the pace of play. The other on a daily basis is the much higher prices Sea Palms is charging. It’s a very nice course now, however, and I am sure golfers will enjoy playing there.

Such a beautiful course for a crisp, clear, sunny day. The layout is challenging and everything is always so well maintained. The greens are a rich green and the bunkers, if you have the bad luck of landing in them, have fresh sand. The fairways are meticulously mowed. Adding to the pleasures of this course are the frequent encounters with the indigenous wildlife, the big birds such as great blue heron, great white and snowy egrets, woodstork and ibis, and ubiquitous anhinga. And it’s a rare day not to encounter an alligator, big or small, who seems to favor a spot to watch lazily near the tee boxes. Enjoy it all.

Played On 01/16/2020Slow, but splendid
This is a gorgeous course and always a treat to play. We got off to an unusually slow start, with several foursomes heading out late before our foursome. However, most of these groups played efficiently and soon disappeared from sight. One group was extremely slow, playing shots repeatedly, hunting too long for lost balls, and dawdling around the greens. We finally had to skip the 16th hole, because the sun was going down and they weren't getting ready to tee off there. Even with these troubles, we all agreed that playing at the beautiful K&P golf course was a great experience on a perfect day.

Gorgeous day for golf—sunny and cool—at this special course. Great blue heron, snowy and great white egrets, and wood storks festooned the trees around the lakes, and semi-submerged anhinga swam in them in large groups and dried their outstretched wings on the shores. The conditions on front and back nines were as usual in impeccable shape, despite the frequent rains over the past week. The spectacular marsh holes are especially challenging, but always the highlight of the back nine. Get out and play at King & Prince!

Played On 12/05/2019Chilly day
For islanders, the 50s are pretty chilly. But it was a gorgeous day on a gorgeous course. The tee boxes, fairways, bunkers, and greens are in perfect shape, but watch out for those fast greens. The only downside today was the slow pace of play, thanks to a foursome two groups ahead, who kept everyone standing around. The groups behind them barely finished before dusk. But slow pace rarely occurs at King & Prince and when it does you get to admire the beautiful vistas.

Our second trip this week to King and Prince. As always, the tee boxes, fairways and greens were in excellent shape. We played in the afternoon as the days are getting shorter, but the pace of play was excellent and we finished in bright daylight. We are looking forward to playing again very soon.

An extremely beautiful course, particularly on the back-nine marsh holes. Conditions were splendid. There was some puddling from recent rains on the edges, but the fairways were clear and and greens perfectly manicured. Lots of wildlife today, including several alligators (one a whopper), flocks of ibis and wood storks, gaggles of egrets, sightings of hawks and osprey, and several braces of deer. Don't miss playing at King & Prince when in the neighborhood of St Simons.

Played On 11/12/2019Singing in the rain
Although there was a steady light rain for about 10 holes, the superb conditions on the tee boxes, fairways, rough, and greens made our play an even steadier pleasure. The members of our threesome often commented on what a beautiful course the King & Prince is. Our favorite place to play.
Laurel Island Links
Played On 10/29/2019Rainy interlude
The staff is wonderful. The starter brought us a cart as we were driving up and gave us a bucket for the driving range. There’s a nice club house restaurant, where you can order lunch for when you finish the front 9. It’s a beautiful island golf course with marsh and water hazards and (for me) magnetic bunkers. The fairways and rough were well cared for and most of the greens were in excellent shape, only two or three balding around the edges. We got caught in a 20-minute downpour, but we waited it out and the remaining seven holes were still quite playable. Warmly recommended place.

K&P is a wonderful golf course, the best in the area. The layout is both challenging and beautiful. Today we were hit by a quick storm, but no one thought of leaving. A growing group of us play there as often as possible. They also have the best hot dogs on the island! Great friendly staff.

My favorite course in the area. I play it as often as I can. Beautiful layout, beautiful vistas, especially on the marsh holes on the back nine.

The conditions in September 2019 are perfect. Don’t miss an opportunity to place this well maintained course with its stunning views, especially on the back 9 with its stupendous vistas. Watch out for all the deer!
Woodhaven Country Club
Played On 07/28/2019Low key
This course was the most no-frills place I have ever played. I was vacationing about an hour away without my clubs and the price was right. The clubs for rent were generic and dirty. The staff is very friendly, but they did not do a good job of regulating the pace of play. We had a foursome of nice kids ahead of us who apparently never played golf before. They were sharing clubs and spent a lot of time searching in the woods and then meandering on the greens deciding what to do next. Players were backed up for 10-15 minutes a hole with everyone yelling back and forth about why no one was driving. The greens were well cared for to the point that a groundskeeper hosed them while you tried to putt. No ranger ever appeared, except to chat people up at the start or afterwards in the parking lot. It took two and a half hours for nine holes for two of us. It’s a very nice course if only someone would take charge.

Played On 06/30/2019Gorgeous Course
King & Prince is a splendid course, beautifully maintained around the year. In the very hot months there is plenty of shade available at tees and greens. The bunkers hold fresh sand and the greens are carefully manicured. The marsh holes are stunning and challenging. There is wild life everywhere. This is my favorite course on St. Simons Island.
Laurel Island Links
Played On 04/11/2019A growing favorite
Laurel Island is a beautiful, welcoming place with an interesting and enjoyable layout. Some holes are straightforward, but some are quite challenging, especially the 5 par around a large lake. The only criticism is the 3 par with a sludge bunker near a construction site. They could improve the course greatly by repairing that bunker, which has been in this horrid state for many months. There is lots of wildlife on the course, including lots of once-endangered woodstorks. We had to change tees for a great gaggle of geese with at least a dozen goslings taking over ours. There is a very good lunch room and bar in the clubhouse. Check it out!

Played On 03/26/2019Gorgeous course
This is my favorite course in an area with many fine golf courses. It has some challenging holes balanced with less difficult areas, which provides a fun experience no matter your level of skill. It is a popular course and can be difficult to book through GolfNow at a range of times during the day. I play there as often as possible.
Sapelo Hammock Golf Club
Played On 02/14/2019Pleasant day
Sapelo Hammock is a long but easy drive on 17 from St Simons Island. The course is easy-going with some beautiful vistas across the marshes. The greens were well kept. The fairways were dry and we got many long friendly rolls. There are some long drives from tee to tee, but it’s pretty country. I always enjoy playing there.
Laurel Island Links
Played On 03/04/2019Beautiful course, sometimes soggy
Our foursome has played Laurel Island Links twice. It is a beautiful course with most of the greens in excellent shape. The sand traps are in terrible shape, as hard as parking lots. One was filled with black sludge near a construction site. Both times have been cart path only, but the desk failed to mention it the second time we played. We stayed on the cart path when the fairways were obviously heavily water-logged, in some cases so wet we had to wade over areas to get to our balls. On one high and dry fairway we ventured out in carts, and the ranger chewed us out a bit too long, considering our apologies. The staff in general is exceptionally friendly, however, and there is a good restaurant. We will definitely go back to see if it’s always soggy and cart path only!
Sea Palms Golf & Tennis Resort
Played On 04/30/2018Great day
The weather was perfect and the pace of place was perfect, too, as there was no backup at all. The fairways were recently mown and richly green. The greens were the best I have seen them. It was a great day at Sea Palms.
Hi, KTSK. Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We are going to escalate your feedback to our team so we can make improvements before your next game. We are also going to follow up with the staff responsible for the rental clubs so they are in pristine condition. Thank you for playing Woodhaven Country Club. We hope to see you again soon.
