Great track, good spring conditions

Many memorable holes set in a spectacular west coast setting. Challenging holes and spectacular views. Great for intermediate and seasoned golfers. Very large greens were running a little slow. Conditions were quite accepatable given time of year and amount of rain we've recently had. Tough walk as there is a considerable amount of up and down, especially on holes #4, #6 and #18.

Great track in a superb setting provides a must-do round

We played Escena in the morning under ideal conditions. The staff were inviting, providing everyone with an excellent yardage book that described a very playable Jack Nicklaus design. The track is challenging but very fair from any set of tees – fairways are generous but well-bunkered, greens are graceful and true but well bunkered. The vegetation, planting and water features enhance one's enjoyment of the round and the Grill is an excellent choice for lunch or 19th hole festivities. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed this course and would highly recommend it for all levels of player

Desert Dunes Golf Course

Great layout but the setup was too challenging when the wind was up

We played early morning when the desert air was cool and crisp. As the round progressed, the wind picked up and the greens became almost unfair. Greens are often convex on all quadrants and with the pins swt too close to the edge, we often could not keep chips and putts from going off the back. The greenskeeper should consider the wind conditions when punching the hole locations – they were just plain unfair on this day resulting in a meanspirited set-up. Needt a yardage book as there was no help on the tee box as to where you were going after you hit your ball to the 150 marker. Don't know if a yardage book was available in the pro shop, but the staff sure didn't recommend them if they were. I would only recommend this course to people looking for a challenge and then only if they hd a yardage book or gps and on a relatively low wind day.
