Magnolia Grove Golf Club - Falls Course
Played On 04/18/2019Golf Buddies trip
8 golfers played this course for the first time. We found it rather challenging for that reason, but the course was in excellent condition - tees, fairways, and greens. We found the staff to be friendly. We definitely want to play this course again next year.
Glenlakes Golf Club - Vista/Dunes Course
Played On 04/16/20198 Golf Buddies trip
We have played at Glen Lakes before, but had not played the Dunes course. We played the Vista 9 first, which was a straight forward parkland course. Fairways and greens were in excellent condition. Then we played the Dunes 9, which was totally different layout. Definitely a Scottish links style course with hundreds of moguls and hidden bunkers. It was a challenge having never seen it before. But we will play it again. It should be easier next time.
Gulf Shores Golf Club

we found the course to be in excellent shape. Great fairways and greens. Greens were very fast and true. Some thought the price was a little steep. But we will come back.
Metairie Country Club
Played On 07/13/2018Very nice course and club
Although this is a private club, we got on with a visiting PGA Professional. The course was in immaculate condition. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The golf carts were the most comfortable I have ever ridden in. Course provides iced bottled water about every 3 holes. Iced Florida water towels also provided, which were very comforting since the temp got up to 94 degrees. Food in the grill room was very good. It was a very enjoyable outing; checked off my bucket list. Hope I can play it again.
Lost Key Golf Club
Played On 04/21/2018It earned its name today - Lost Balls
It was a very windy day which added to the already high difficulty of this course. The course was in great condition with lush fairways and greens,. The greens were very nice and playable. I've played it twice, much more fair when the wind is not blowing 20+ mph.
Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club - Cypress/Marsh Course
Played On 04/20/2018Tough pin placements and fast greens
This is a beautiful layout and was in excellent condition. It was cool and windy when we started, and we had much difficulty managing the greens, which were lightning fast. The course was very crowded, and it took 5 hours to finish. But it was a great day.
Gulf Shores Golf Club
Played On 04/19/2018Course in great condition
The course overall was in great condition. The greens were lush and fast. The starter was friendly and very helpful, giving us tips on which holes would be toughest that day due to windy conditions. Highly recommend this course.
Bayou Oaks City Park South Course
Played On 09/08/2017Nice new course
course was in great shape, especially the greens. Greens were lightning fast but roiled true. The course was surprisingly wide open (opposite of tight). We played the men's white tees, 6111 yds, and found it to be very challenging, esp since it was windy. I question the hdcp rating of 68.8 and slope of 121 for the mens white tees; seems too low. It was a nice experience, but seems aver priced.
Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club
Played On 04/30/2017Nice course, several tough holes, spotty greens and tees
we played in 20-25 mph winds. Course still had some very difficult pin placements near the water, which made for some tough shots. Greens rolled nice. We got fooled by the cart GPS on #14; we thought it was indicating a waste area across the fairway, so we laid up off the tee, only to find there was no waste area. Baffled us.
Kelly Plantation Golf Club
Played On 04/29/2017Best course in Destin
Course in great condition. However, they place too much emphasis on the pace of play. Our 4 ball group was struggling alittle, partially due to 20 mph winds, and after 2 warnings from the marshal, he told us unless we made up the gap, he would make us skip a hole - even though there was noone in sight behind us all day. This caused us to rush shots, leading to more flubs and higher scores. It totally ruined my experience that day. I am a 12 hcp and shot 100. All because they put pressure on us to speed up when no one was in sight behind us. If you are a good golfer, highly recommend Kelly Plantation. If you are a mediocre golfer, be prepared to be marshalled to finish in 4 hrs 15 mins, or else.
Indian Bayou Golf Club
Played On 04/28/2017Nice course, several tough holes
Creek #4 and #6 holes are very tough because waste areas dissect the fairways twice, making club selection tough on the first time player. Can't recall if the scorecard stated if drop areas exist on those holes, but they should. Course was in very good condition; are real value for the green fee.
Emerald Bay Golf Club
Played On 04/27/2017Nice course
Course in good to excellent shape. Everyone in our 8 man group complained about the greens being very slow. Has a very tough #18 hole. Will definitely play this course again; good value.
Thank you for your feedback. Pace of play is certainly an issue that is hard to deal with on either side. While recognizing that a lot of money is spent to play the golf course I am certainly disappointed you had a negative experience concerning pace of play. We try and make sure each and every golfer has a chance to enjoy this beautiful golf course in a timely manner. It is our policy to kindly speak to groups that start to fall behind pace to try and alleviate it becoming a further issue. We have found out after trial and error that most groups that fall behind pace the first three holes continue to do so and if we wait until there is another golf group right up on them it is too late to help them pick up the pace. We set our GPS for a 4 hour and 15 minute round. We feel this is appropriate time to enjoy the golf course and not be rushed. I do recognize that not every group is the same however. We enjoy having all types of players, from the advanced to the beginners. For the beginning golfers our host will tend the flag for them, rake bunkers, and sometimes provide them golf balls free of charge to help alleviate taking time to look for lost ones on the course. We certainly want each golfer to enjoy his or her round in a timely fashion so the others behind them can enjoy theirs. It sounds like in your case that you felt rushed and I certainly don't want that feeling for you. I hope you understand that getting to a golf group that has fallen behind normal pace before another group gets up on them is all we try and do to help everyone. I certainly understand your feelings on your views. I truly hope you come back and enjoy the golf course again. I really take these situations and try and learn from them on how to get better at what we do. I will review my notes and see what we could of possibly done maybe different. Thank you for helping us get better at what we do. Also thank you for noticing the great condition of the golf course. It means a lot that you say those things. I will pass this along to my staff and Turf Care.
