The Savannahs Golf Course
Played On 07/13/2019MAKING PROGRESS
I played this course for a second time. Being a new Cocoa Beach resident, I'm trying to find a home course. The practice facility is very good and the staff is very friendly. This is an older facility but in good shape. The course does need a little more work and it appears the owners are doing that. This is a very challenging layout with lots of water and alligator sightings in addition to other wildlife. The greens were decent with just a little weed issue on a few greens. Tees are not terrible but could use a little more care. Fairways are not bad but concrete cart paths are showing age and folks are creating new paths to avoid them. Overall this course is worth checking out if your visiting and want a true Florida golf experience complete with Florida nature.
Disney's Lake Buena Vista Golf Course
Played On 03/09/2014THE MOST CHARACTER OF DISNEY COURSES
This is my favorite of the Disney courses. The layout has more character than the others. Half the greens were in excellent condition, while the other half seemed to have many unrepaired ball marks and weed issues. But even the problem greens still were mowed well and putted decently. There is some water that comes into play. There are a couple of holes where resort guests wave to you traveling in boats to and from their hotel. The course from the white tees has most par 4's around 360 which makes it a fair test for the 15 handicapper like myself. The staff was more than friendly as you would expect at "the happiest place on turf" The only disappointment came when after our round, we wanted to get something to eat but the bar and grill did not open until 5pm and the restaurant on site is for regular hotel guests, so you have families and kids everywhere with a traditional theme park walk up service where you order and get a tray. It was noisy and expensive so we went outside the Disney area to a local sports restaurant.
Royal St. Cloud Golf Links - Red/White Course
Played On 01/25/2014FOR THE MONEY IT'S AWESOME
$38 as a Florida resident to play a course in great condition this time of year is awesome. The price included a small bucket of balls as well. The restaurant is very good and reasonably priced. The tracks are decent with even a couple of island type par 3's. Watch out for gators, there was one we saw as well as a Florida otter.
Grand Cypress - North/South
Played On 01/11/2014SOUTH COURSE HARD BUT FUN
I played the East and South nines. The south is certainly a challenge and as close to a tour course as you can get. You need to know where on the greens to put your approach shots not just hit the greens. Although it gets its share of tourists, the conditions are kept upscale. The greens were very fast when they dried from the morning dew and the fairways were very nice. The range gets crowded early in the day and since the markers were up front, we weren't allowed to hit drivers, which is my only pet peeve. If you like a harder course, play the South, if not then book the other tracks.
TPC Sawgrass - THE PLAYERS Stadium Course
Played On 06/17/2013BRING YOUR "A" GAME
I crossed off a destination on my golf bucket list when I played the stadium course. I played it shortly after "The Players", and the stands were still being taken down. This was by far the hardest track I ever played. If you don't hit fairways and greens, it can be a nightmare. The rough, even around the greens was diabolical. I managed to par the front side par 3's but that was all. 16, 17 & 18 are just how I imagined. It took 3 shots to get on 17 but I got there! This is a must for any avid golfer!
Thank you FlyMike for the review and feedback. We appreciate your insight on your recent visit with The Savannahs. Hope to see you again soon this season for another great round of golf.
