Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course
Played On 06/25/2022Incredible
Absolutely recommend playing Edgewood. Course was in great shape and you simply cannot beat the scenery. Was very, very impressed! They were putting up structures ahead of the Pro-Am held each July. Edgewood was simply awesome. If you're in the Tahoe area, you have to play!
TPC Harding Park - Harding Course
Played On 06/22/2022Surprised... to say the least
I reside in Chicago and during my time in San Francisco for work, I wanted to check out TPC Harding Park. Would have LOVED to take a right turn at Olympic Club on way to TPC Harding. Nonetheless... was very surprised to see the conditions the way they were, especially with hosting the PGA Championship in 2020. Pace of play was great, which was nice. Greens were running at an 8 or 9, which were brutal.... Fairways seemed to have disease and bunkers had grass growing in them. Very disappointed playing TPC Harding Park and expected A LOT more, especially for the money. I am a non-resident, so I wasn't surprised with the fee they charge. Other thing that was a shocker was them telling to not leave any valuables in your car because of theft. Not used to hearing that when you pull to a golf course paying $150+. But hey.. it is the Bay Area. Scenery was beautiful and I'd suggest playing once, and only once, just for the name recognition.
Ruffled Feathers Golf Club
Played On 05/29/2021For $99 and a Dye Course... You'd think they could actually maintain the bunkers...
So... it is a solid course. Pete and PB Dye completed this in Lemont, IL. Have played Ruffled 10+ times. I really enjoy the course, but not sure if I'll be back. Green Fee was $99 and the bunkers were absolutely atrocious. Honestly is a shame to see the bunkers the way they were. Staff is good. Range is good. Pace of play was fine (roughly 4.5 hours). But... bunkers were terrible. Really surprises me. If they are going to charge $99 and the bunkers are the way they are... save your money. Go play Cantigny in Wheaton or Prairie Landing in West Chicago. Hopefully someone sees this and they get the bunkers taken care of! I'd recommend the course just because it's a Dye Course. That is probably it...
South/East at Arrowhead Golf Club
Played On 04/23/2021Great Course in Chicagoland Area
Arrowhead is like a home course to my buddies and I. Tend to play the Course several times a month. Greens are fast and true! Was very impressed by the greens as they would equivalent several Private Club's in the Suburbs of Chicago.
Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course
Played On 04/11/2021Best Course by Far at Big Cedar Lodge
Out of the 3 18 hole courses you can play at Big Cedar (Paynes Valley, Ozark National, Buffalo Ridge Springs)... Buffalo Ridge is THE BEST. Out of the 3 courses... I'd play Buffalo Ridge 8 times, Ozark National once and Paynes Valley once. Buffalo Ridge by far the best at Big Cedar. 110% recommend.
Payne's Valley
Played On 04/10/2021Great for Buddies Trip
Besides the round taking 6 hours.... my buddies and I had a great time. Fairways are quite wide, similar to that of Mammoth Dunes at Sand Valley. Can putt from anywhere. Marshals did a terrible job of keeping people on pace. Should not have taken 6 hours to play.... 19th hole is by far one of the coolest/if not THE coolest golf hole in the United States. Roughly 140yards out, make sure you pick the right club! Small landing pad! We did have a great time, but pace of play was atrocious. Hopefully this is something that can be fixed in the months & years to come.
Ozarks National
Played On 04/09/2021Greens weren't the best
Greens were recently aerated so we did get a better rate than originally had thought. Coore/Crenshaw classic. Greens were only down side of playing at Ozark National.
Stonewall Orchard Golf Club
Played On 04/03/2021A bit cold, but fun
Played this course with my buddies earlier in 21' golf season in Chicagoland. Was a little cold & windy! Greens could have been a bit better/faster, but would still recommend playing the course! Little bit of a hike up North from the Western Suburbs of Chicago. Definitely recommend an early morning tee time.
Whitetail Ridge Golf Club
Played On 08/22/2020Worth the Drive from Chicago Suburbs
Enjoyed 18 holes with a group of friends and overall, thought the course was great. It is a bit of a drive from Chicago and/or the Western Suburbs, but worth the drive. At times, you can even get a tee time for $75 versus $100+ on weekends. Would definitely recommend playing at Whitetail Ridge!
Big Run Golf Club
Played On 08/16/2020Could be a great course if kept up with...
Course was in bad shape. Pace of play terrible (5+ hours). The two long par 5's are cool, but unfortunate when on most holes you can't distinguish the fairways from the rough...
Settler's Hill Golf Course
Played On 08/02/2020Just Okay...
Have played Settler's Hill several times the last few years. Unfortunately, each time we play, the shape of the course gets worse. Many tee boxes were completely shot (no grass, just dirt) and several of the sand traps played as "ground under repair". Not sure if we will go back as the course itself does not improve. I will say this.. it is fun to play on the elevated par 3's!
South/East at Arrowhead Golf Club
Played On 07/26/2020Fun Time
South/East at Arrowhead is a great time. Some of my favorite holes are on the South course and is a great front 9 for the round. Arrowhead also has option of playing 18 holes with West/East. Believe it switches each month. Highly recommend playing at Arrowhead!
South/East at Arrowhead Golf Club
Played On 07/25/2020Great Municipal Course
Arrowhead is a fun time! A bit challenging and for a municipal course, is in great shape! Staff are friendly and the starter's have gotten a lot better in regards to pace of play. So far this year it has not taken over 5 hours to play a round which is impressive considering in years past how long it has taken to play an 18 hole round. Highly recommend playing Arrowhead Golf. Have played both rotations of 18 with South/East & West/East. You'll enjoy your time at Arrowhead!
Sand Valley Golf Resort - Mammoth Dunes Course
Played On 06/06/2020Mammoth Dunes even Better!
After playing our morning round at Sand Valley... it was time to play the second of the two courses. Couldn't believe it, but thought Mammoth was even better! Not sure if it was because we got the first round jitters out playing at Sand, and were much more ready for our Second Round on Mammoth. Regardless, what a great time on Mammoth. Fairways were even more wide open, same goes for the greens. Have not stayed on property yet as a friend of ours has lake house on Castle Rock Lake. For Labor Day Weekend, we are staying on site at Sand Valley. Further reviews to come! You gotta make the trip up to Sand Valley Golf Resort!
Sand Valley Golf Resort - Sand Valley Course
Played On 06/06/2020What a time.... Go Play Sand Valley Now!
Had the opportunity to play with a group of buddies in early June for the first time. Place is immaculate and had the best time out there. Both Bandon Dunes & Cabot Links are next on my list to play! They really have made it magical at Sand Valley. Playing there again this Labor Day Weekend and staying on property for the first time. More reviews to come... I'd absolutely recommend making the drive or flight to play Sand Valley in middle-of-nowhere Wisconsin!
