Eagle Falls Golf Course
Played On 03/28/2019beautiful course
This used to be an expensive course, but many other courses in the valley have upped their rates during prime season, and Eagle Falls has not (yay). The staff are friendly, there is a good practice facility, and the course is well laid out. However the 'pro shop' is a trailer; the on-course restrooms are also very 'shack-like' and you have to be wary of snakes in them. Pace of play can be slow, and the on-course Marshalls don't tend to help out much with that. Played in the spring of 2019 and the course is in very good shape.

No marked “bag drop” in parking lot. No attendant in parking lot to direct you to a bag drop (well, there was one sitting in a cart having a smoke, who totally ignored us as we drove in, and then he drove back to the pro shop without asking if we needed a ride, or directions, or a bag pickup) . The starter tried to push us back 2 tee times from what we had booked. No GPS on carts. No cooler on carts. No one informed us we would be playing behind the SoCal Future Champions tournament (I.e. slow pace). No one mentioned that quite a few of the white tees had been moved up to the forward tees (so we should have been playing the blues). And evidently, no one told the Future Champions to repair their ball marks / divots. Course was in terrible shape, tee boxes ripped up, lots of (unrepaired) beaver pelts from wedge shots into the green, we fixed at least 4 ball marks on every green. At a GolfNow “hot deal” of $75 per person, I expected much better. We will not return.
Indian Canyons Golf Resort - South Course
Played On 12/04/2017Great pace
Course is in great shape (early Dec 2017). Rough is a bit rough, but they’re just recovering from overseeding. A few of the bunkers were not good - either too gravelly or sand that hadn’t been worked in yet. Played in about 4 hours, so really haapy with pace.

Arrived early for a 10:20 t time, and there were NO carts available for us til almost 10:30. Chipping area is not great, so not much to do but hang around the parking lot. Staff did not do a good job communicating the problems to everyone standing around waiting. When we finally got going, pace was great for 4 holes (since everyone was spaced about 12 min apart) and then we waited on every shot, for a 5 hr round. Breakfast (not so great) & lunch included in green fee, but lunch was off the table by the time we finished our 5 hour round (so they gave us a pre wrapped sandwich). Poor form!

Played On 03/28/2015beware of the bunkers
Staff exceptionally helpful & friendly. Greens are true, and fairly well kept in spite of the traffic (although it would help if everyone repaired their divots). Fairways also in good condition BUT the bunkers are so thin its ridiculous. No depth at all, leaving one with a difficult shot trying to judge how to hit out of a green side bunker. They could all use a few truckloads of sand. hopefully they will take the time this summer to remedy this one aspect of the course that is severely lacking. Only other issue is pace of play - they host a lot of tournaments, and if you get put behind one, it can easily be a 5 - 6 hr round. They should post these events on their website.
Salt Creek Golf Club
Played On 03/03/2015Needs a lot of TLC
Pro shop staff and starter super friendly. However, we were quite disappointed in the overall state of this course (especially when it had garnered so many great reviews). While the greens were well kept and manicured, the rest of the course was in very poor shape. Fairways had minimal grass, and the bunkers had no depth (of sand) and were muddy in spots. Its hard to hit a good chip shot when the 'rough' around the greens is thin/sparse grass on dirt. You could hit a "perfect" tee shot, middle of the fairway, only to watch the ball run off into the rough (i.e. Jail) on a lot of the holes . Seems like they didn't put any $$ into building 'good' fairways, or bunkers. We won't return.
Cimarron Golf Club - Boulder Course
Played On 02/07/2015Great local spot
Greeted quickly and efficiently at the Pro Shop; the starter regrouped us so i was playing with 3 ladies, not 3 men, which i appreciated. Pace of play was good - under 4:20. Greens can be tricky, but are fair.
Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon - Legends Course
Played On 11/02/2014Great spot
We like Morongo Tukwet Canyon - no houses, just the desert and scrubland. Holes are interesting, greens in pretty good shape. OnCourse staff very friendly (Vernon!). Halfway house has never been open in the several times we've played, but a cart girl usually comes around to see you about 3 times. Some of the fairways aren't well drained, so have spongy spots. It is always cooler here than in Palm Springs, so bring an extra layer or jacket
Indian Canyons Golf Resort - South Course
Played On 02/15/2014Can't beat the scenery
Indian Canyon South course has some of the best scenery going, which makes it almost impossible to not enjoy your day. The fairways are a bit of a mess - other golfers need to repair their divots (and rake the traps). The greens are rough (furry) and again, few people seem to care to repair their ball marks. Pace of play was good, and the bev cart came by at least 4 times. I'd suggest the pro shop hand out complimentary repair tools to encourage clean up of this lovely course. And lovely the bearded palms lining the course provide plenty of 'hazards'.
