I chose River Oaks because we only wanted to play 9 holes plus it received 2015 Course of the year but as a golfer I don't know how, eight out of the nine greens were covered with black stuff. The course has allot of water BUT the water was nasty looking The cart path was in poor condition. They were performing drainage work on one hole and the whole area wreaked of sewage. You hear about these pristine courses at myrtle beach well not this time "maybe" next. It was my first time playing golf at myrtle beach and was totally disappointed. The Fox and Otter course may be great but the starter put us on the Bear and although the desk worker said he was sorry he never offered any compensation for a bad experience, we wont be back. PS the pace of play was excellent because the course was almost empty.

I called ahead to make sure the course was opened. I wished they said it was closed. I asked the guy how the greens were and he said they have had a rough year, biggest understatement ever. The putting surface (I will not call them greens) are full of crab grass, cracks and what looked to be turquoise colored paint, which might have been spray on grass. I wont even talk about the fairways. When we entered the course we saw the #8 putting surface looked kinda of bad but we went with it. #8 was the best. They charge $16 for 9 & $32 for 18 to ride for non-members. Its a shame that these folks let this course get so bad and still charge that much to play.
