Cherry Hills Lodge & Golf Course

Played On 09/16/2020A little damp
This was the first time I had been out in nearly 3 weeks.
In Florida we have been getting the early afternoon and evening rains.
We had to stay on the cart paths because the property was so wet that if you did drive on the course it would have torn the whole course to pieces.
The carts are governed so you can't go into certain places or too close to the greens.
All in all a good day because we avoided the rain.

I would not recommend walking this course, There are plenty of hills and a lot of real estate between holes.
EastWood Golf Course
Played On 02/06/2020Windy Day
I just played Eastwood Golf course today . . . . It was VERY windy.
The only problem was that the majority of the wind gusts were across the fairway as opposed to from tee to green.
Fairways were cut nicely but the sand traps have a lot of grass in them.
EastWood Golf Course
Played On 10/15/2019Going to pot.
It's been a while since I've played at Eastwood and while it did take a hit during the bad weather (rain, it was flooded and the sand-traps were full of water).
Management has now let the sand-traps cover over with weeds and grass and they have left the "rough" uncut, making it difficult to find a ball that goes astray.
While they have a small eating area at the clubhouse the only items that are available are "pre-wrapped" but the drinks are cold.
Dubsdread Golf Course
Played On 10/09/2019The course and people were wonderful.
We were having some very wet weather in the Orlando area. The weather forecast was predicting at least 70 % chance of rain, (I went anyway).
The starter told me that there was a chance I would get rained on. I started my round. (Cart paths only)
I was surprised first of all by the condition of the course because the day before they had closed the course because of 3 inches of rain within a very short period of time. The fairways were firm and easy to walk on and you didn't have to trudge through water.
Other than having to walk to my ball to take my next shot everything was great. I only got 'damp' a couple of times and completed the round in just over 3 hours even using the "cart paths only".
Dubsdread Golf Course
Played On 08/28/2019Excellent Condition
Dubsdread is a wonderful find right in the center of Orlando.
It has 5 tee boxes locations - black - blue - green - yellow - and red that allows you to play the game that suits you.
Even after a downpour the course was still very playable.
It is well managed and maintained and the staff go out of their way to make sure the time you spend with them is a pleasant one.
Cherry Hills Lodge & Golf Course
Played On 07/16/2019Rolling Hills
As my playing partner called the course. This was the first time he had played it, but after he had tries 3 or 4 putts he called the greens . . . . Rolling Greens.
Even after a great deal of rain (2 to 3 inches) the majority of the course was still playable.
The course has large greens that are very challenging based on the pin placements.

They have used the terrain of the course to the best advantage. While you can walk the course I would not recommend this, it's VERY hilly and spread out (operating on both sides of the road).
The course is kept in good shape by the "grounds crew".
The greens can be difficult because of their crowns, and the flag placements.
(I'm currently visiting this location in Wisconsin).
Ventura Country Club
Played On 05/08/2019Carts have a mind of their own.
I haven't been to Ventura for some time. I was surprised to see that they have renumbered most of the holes.
(Example - number 17 and 18 are now 1 and 2 - and what was number 10 is now number 3 etc.)
The course and greens are in very good shape but the greens are very slow.
The carts have a "cut-out" system on them if you get too close to the greens or the approach. You can't even cut across a par 3 fairway without the system shutting you down - it was very annoying. So keep your cart on the cart paths.
Stoneybrook East Golf Course
Played On 04/16/2019You'll need a cart . . . .
The course is VERY spread out. It looks like they built the houses and where there was room they put in a golf hole.
Some of the areas along the fairways are low and collect water or are constantly soggy. Sand traps need attention and more sand should be added.
Some of the holes are challenging because of their location to water or waste areas.
Overall a very slow day it took us (a twosome) just about 4 hours to complete the round.
Rio Pinar Golf
Played On 04/04/2019Fox Squirrels
This is an old top rated professional course. Unfortunately because of the years it is showing its age.
The fox squirrels are native to the course and are constantly looking for anything to eat that's in the cart.
The fairways are wide but the trees that line them are very unforgiving, once you go off course its difficult to get back. The water hazards are now just bogs with very little water in them but plenty of weeds.
EastWood Golf Course
Played On 03/29/2019They're trying.
This is a nice little course.
The course is kept in pretty good shape but the sand traps tend to fill with water after a rainy day and it takes them a few days to empty.
Many of the sand traps have stones and rocks in them that should be cleaned up.
Only snacks are available in the club house.
Thanks for your review. We have such a wonderful staff and an even better grounds crew helping to keep our course in the best shape possible (even in that rain). Thanks for your understanding and we hope to see you back again soon.
