Had my annual guys trip the week for Oct 21 to the 25th and Hilton Head National was course #3 we played. All 8 golfers agreed that this was tied with RTJ at Palmetto Dunes for best overall course. The price made it the best value. Condition was great and the time of play was much better that Palmetto Dunes. It was a fair course for the whole group as it was fair off the tee and if you put the ball in the fairway as usual you had a better day. Greens were quick but not crazy. Enjoyed it so much that My Wife and I had guests down during Veterans day weekend and brought them over to Hilton Head National to play and our guest fully enjoyed the course and the round and the pace of play was great 3:40 minutes, as we got out earlier than the later crowd looking to play in the warmer part of the day. They also were gracious to charge them as guests since my Wife and I had just become residents in Hilton Head.

Course was in usual winter shape with dormant grasses, greens were in good shape. Had the slowest round on the first 11 holes and no one seemed to care. Called Clubhouse at the 4th tee a par 3 where we had a 5some on the tee, a 4some then us {2}, then a 4some, and then while the 5some finally reached the green we had another 2some come up the rear. 6, I repeat 6 groups on one hole. That sent me over the edge and I called to complain. 2 holes later we see the ranger who saud he broke up the 5some. It took 2:38 to finish nine. After 11, the 4some let us go through, and when we hit 13 the 5 some disappeared, and my wife and I then made up the time in playing the last holes in 1.5 hours with a 2 some in front and a 3some in front of them. So overall time was about 4:40, slowest round we have played in 3 weeks here. Ranger should have done a better job of moving things along and possible staying with the 5some to make sure they moved. bothered me my whole round that players have no mind about what's going on around them, and added help from the Club would have been appreciated.Would play again as it is a playable course for my Wife. Just hope management can do a better job.

As many before me have probably stated, if you can't afford Pebble Beach, Spyglass or the other big boys, this will give you as good a course with some of the same affects. My wife and I were paired with a Former Marine who was a plesure to play with and he afforded us some insight to the grounds and area. Thanks Shawn for your company and your 22 years of service. Course is a can't miss. Greens fast, fairways great, ruff a bit brown because of drought, but would play any day of the week

Interesting course, nice hole, good condition. We enjoyed a round before heading into wine country. Pace of play was good, leisurely about 4 and a half. My wife and I joined up with a member and his wife who were very nice and since they knew the area we were able to find out more about the area and the history of the course. Would play again

I have not been to OCN in about 8 years. Course was great as I remember it. Greens rolled well, fairways and tee boxes all in good shape. Got a great price on Golfnow for and afternoon tee time. My issues were, they had just had a golf outing which was finishing up as we were paying and getting ready for our tee time. I wanted to grab something to eat before but was told it was at least 15 minutes to get a hot dog and I asked if there was a cart on the course and was told everything was done on the course. It was 330 in the afternoon with many hours of daylight left and we couldn't get anything to eat or drink. My wife and I needed to rent clubs as we were on a short trip and did not bring ours. Was told they may not have any stiff shafted clubs because of the outing many rental sets went out. The outing seemed to be over since they were giving their prizes out when we got there. It just seemed that they didn't want to go out of their way for the customer? Will return to play, hope it was a one day issue.
