The Country Club at Soboba Springs
Played On 05/27/2021Five Is Too Many!
Either this course has no limit on the number of players allowed in a group or people are grouping together after the first hole, but I was caught behind a fivesome on the second hole. Fortunately, they did let me (a single) play thru. I then was confronted with some seriously slow three and foursomes who didn't understand golf etiquette (it is almost a thing of the past). Then when I finsihed the last hole, I saw probably 12-15 high school aged kids on the first tee. I have no idea what they were all doing together, but I'm glad I didn't get stuck behind them! Slow play is the bane of all golf courses, and without a marshall to speed up some of these woefully slow groups, it kills the flow for other players.
The Country Club at Soboba Springs
Played On 12/08/2020Overbooking Impacts Player's Enjoyment
One of the main reasons I occasionally book an expensive course is to avoid the slow pace of play at the inexpensive courses. So you know that I'm not happy to find a course filled to the brim and overflowing with too many golfers! Three groups on every hole: tee/fairway/green! Waiting on every shot and several times so long that I started to get stiff. The fairways are so-so with lots of barren lies and weeds cut down to fit in with the actual grass/turf. The greens are quite fast but are fine when one gets acclimated. All-in-all, this course—and business plan—are decidedly unfriendly to the people who support it: the players. The moment that $$ become your only focus, then you have failed in your duty to make golfing at Soboba a special event.

Adequate course with decent fairways and greens. Not a very creative layout. I'd like to know what the management at this course is thinking when they try to sell a Hot Deal at $40 for a course that has always been valued at $25 regular fee? I've heard that now they are trying to charge players extra just to get a cart? The greed factor seems too obvious to be overlooked. One thing they HAVE accomplished with this price gouging is that they are making the other area courses rich by driving away all their business. Ever since this management took over at SH and menifee lakes, they have been obnoxious in their overt efforts to break the bank. When they try to force players—in the midst of this terrible pandemic and California now being hardest hit—to ride two to a cart, that's the last straw. Fortunately, there are other local courses with more compassionate owners. Nobody should be forced to decide between their personal and familial safety and a round of golf...and riding two to a cart at this time could well be a death sentence for their mostly senior clientele.
Legends Golf Club
Played On 12/27/2017"SAND" Bunkers?
The course is not in its best condition. Tight lies due to sparse fairway grass. Terrible traps/bunkers. Most of the traps were bare dirt hardpan; found exactly one that had lots of sand. But the most excruciating part of the day was the greens...more specifically, the pin placements AND the greens. Almost every green on this course has a steep two-tiered design. While it's too many, it's OK...UNLESS the joker who placed the cups today thought it would be funny to locate every one of them within a foot of the break line. Too short? Back to you it rolls. Too long? Off the other side it rolls 20 feet. When a course does this Putt-Putt design, it's so far removed from golf that it's just punitive. Not funny. Not fun. Probably won't be back anytime soon.
San Dimas Canyon Golf Course
Played On 10/20/2017San Dimas Morass
First time at this course. Little did I know the problems. When our tee time arrived, we were sixth in line at the first tee box. It just got worse from there. I've never seen more fairways laid side by side, with errant balls flying two fairways wayward. Dangerous. Add the absolute over-booking—or ignoring of advance tee times, more likely—and you had more people on this course at one time than should ever be on ANY course through an entire day! Finish off a lousy day at San Dimas with the most penal set of greens ever imagined. Bouncing back from aeration, the greens were hard, fast, and with the most severe slopes I've ever seen. I thought that some of the greens at Redhawk (Temecula) were similar, but at this course, 15 out of the 18 were nightmares. I can appreciate that golfers in the vicinity come here, but even the man we played with—who lives a mile away—said he rarely ever plays this course for all of the above stated reasons. Not vindictive, but we won't be back. Heed this as fair warning!
CrossCreek Golf Club
Played On 06/24/2015Not for the faint of heart!
I don't want to slam this course but merely to point out to the uninformed that Cross Creek is an EXTREMELY hard course. Lots of blind shots. The greens are mostly elevated and many with an embankment surrounding. No balls are going to roll onto these greens. Then tons of undulation with speed. Many of the fairways are surrounded by intense rough and/or steep slopes. Very easy to lose a decent shot in this rough. It's a beautiful area in the Temecula wine country and the temp was right at 90 on a day that was at 100 in most of the IE.
Menifee Lakes Country Club - The Palms Golf Course
Played On 02/19/2015A Good Day At Menifee Lakes
Beautiful day on the links in Menifee. First time on the Lakes course but not hard to figure out. Greens in good condition but as with many desert courses lots of elevation changes and big sweeping undulations. Fairways spotty but mostly good. As per the name, lots of water to challenge you, almost all on the right side so slicers may have a long day. The pace of play was excellent, a big deal to most golfers. I plan to play there again.
Hello John. Thank you for reviewing the course. We would like to offer our sincerest apologizes for the delay of play during your round. Please know that this is by no means the standard we strive to achieve as we work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and to best control pace allowing everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve, and will use your comments as guidance in doing so. For further resolution in this matter, please feel free to reach out to our team in the pro shop. Thank you for playing The Country Club at Soboba Springs. We hope to hear from you soon.
