Druids Glen
Played On 05/05/2018Druids Is Back!!!!
I blasted Druids management last year for running adds that said the course was in excellent condition when half the greens were dirt. Fast forward to today and I am happy to say that the greens are 98% back. The course is in the best shape I have seen it in 2-3 years. Great layout that I am happy to put back in the monthly rotation. Now they just need to have the course marshal push the weekend pace below 5 hrs.
Willows Run Golf Club - Eagle's Talon Course
Played On 04/21/2018Terrible Maintenance
Greens are constantly bumpy and uneven. Clumps of grass cuttings are left everywhere. Boring layout. 6hr weekend rounds. I only play here once a year to remind me how far this place has gone down hill.

Not much to say except this is an excellent course that is well taken care off. The fairways are in good shape and the greens are firm and challenging. Shot placement and approach angles are at a premium here. Putting is fast and true. Their standard rates are a steal for a course this nice. The only down side is having to take the ferry to get there but whenever I head out I just play 36. Personally I enjoy this course more than Salish Cliffs and it is much nicer on the wallet.
Willows Run Golf Club - Coyote Creek Course
Played On 09/01/2015What happened to this place?
Unfortunately there is not much good to say about Willows Run anymore. Four years ago this was an above average course but it has been on a steady down hill slide every year since then. The course is in the absolute worst condition of any course in the area even when you cut them some slack for the rough summer we had. The landscaping people leave clumps of cut grass on the fairways that kill what little live grass they have. The greens are diseased and spongy/bumpy from not being properly sanded. There is substantial amounts of geese excrement all over the place. One of their starters needs an attitude adjustment. The greens keeper and maintenance supervisor should be fired. I believe the same ownership group also has Druids Glen and that course is also in terrible shape. Don't waste your money. There are better courses not that far away that don't cost that much more. The only way conditions will improve is if people stay away until it hurts their bottom line.
Virginia Beach National Golf Club
Played On 08/19/2015Great Course. Fun challenging layout.
Played with my buddies on vacation and we had a blast. I really enjoyed this Dye layout. Tee shots needed to placed in the fairways or pay the price. I would say this course overall favors those who hit a right handed draw so my natural fade made placement a little harder. Greens/fairways were in good shape. There were one or two tee boxes that were in ruff shape and the grounds keeper kept taking off the tee markers to mow right before we got to the box which was a little annoying but it didn't ruin the day. Overall for the money this is an awesome course.
FYI you will have military fighter jets flying overhead throughout the round (seems common in any course in that area) and there is construction/clearing going on in the adjacent property next to the 9th & 10th holes. Neither bothered us.

Played On 08/17/2015Nice Course Starter & Locals Could Learn Some Manners
First for the course. Layout was nice, the greens and fairways were in good condition. Our foursome had a good time playing as it was challenging enough from the back tees for the guys and played much easier from the white tees for our wives.
As for the starter we had a foursome booked for 8:00 am and we were sent off early. Maybe here it is common practice to send out a set of twosomes right behind a foursome without combining them but we immediately had people on our tail after the first whole. We let 2 separate sets of 2 play through before we reached the 5th hole. Upon making the turn the starter said to our wives that you girls need to pick it up because we were behind the pace which we couldn't understand because once the twosomes had passed us we were having to wait a few seconds for them two clear the greens. It became obvious that the locals felt that our wives were playing slow even though we finished the round in 4:15. Comments were made by people who had finished or were waiting to the effect that women should not be allowed on the course before 12pm. We didn't let the boys club ruin our day but it was disappointing.
Twisted Dune Golf Club
Played On 08/10/2015Horrible bunkers and greens.
bunkers are filled with rocks. rocks from greenside bunkers are all over the greens. should be ashamed of the condition. even without the rocks the greens were very bumpy. it is ashame because it is a well designed track otherwise.
Willows Run Golf Club - Coyote Creek Course
Played On 9/7/2013Needs TLC
I really like Eagles Talon. I learned golf here and I would consider it my home course. They need to take care of the geese excrement all over the track. Also the ground crew needs to be a little more careful when mowing the fairways the last couple of times there were mounds of grass clippings all over the fairways and greens. It is going to be slow on the weekends so know that going in and it won't bother you just make sure you are a foursome.
Druids Glen
Played On 10/13/2012Great Course But Has Drainage Issues
I have played this course a couple of times but never in the rain. I love the challenging layout and it is one of my favorite courses out here but I was very surprised how poorly 5 of the back 9 holes drain. There was standing water on 3 of these holes and the rest of the back 9 greens were water logged to varying degrees. I could understand if it had been raining for a week straight but it was the first real day of rain in about 2 months.
