Decent course, green are true

Worth the money to play. The course was in decent shape compared to others that cost more. Fairways were in fair shape. Greens in good shape, no bare spots to speak of. There were a couple that had small areas < 2 ft repaired. But only a couple. Even those were %99.99 in great shape rest of green and putted smooth. All the other greens were well kept. Would play here again. Actually cancelled a round at a well know course down the road and booked another round here. For the money was a much better deal. Played whites. Front 9 long, back 9 a little shorter but Still not a short course. Some nice holes that required shot selection to be correct. Lots of slope on greens that added to challenge. Fairways generous in some landing areas, tight in others. Bunkers had decent sand. Overall a fun course that had teeth if challenged.

Course closing 11/01, Never really got to great shape

This course is the closest course to my home but I rarely played under the current ownership. They would at times get the course playable and staff was very helpful. I just always got the feeling they were temporary. I was right. This course is closing for good. Nursing School bought property 3 years ago. They put a little money in the course but I'm guessing never made a long term commitment to it. I noticed the responses to bad review here seem to be canned. One read "Hope we can meet your expectations next visit" That was dated 10 days before permanent closure and after it was announced. Why would they respond at all, has to be a bot.
Course layout was fairly good for new golfers and enough interesting holes for more advanced. Just never got it in top tier shape. RIP Woodford Lakes.

Greens punched not sanded , terrible shape all around now

Played here a month ago and it seemed to be getting better. Now they have lost half the greens, no fringe on greens to speak of, putting surface( I use that word loosely) straight to rough. Fairways like cart paths. On the plus side you’ll get a tremendous amount of roll.

Greens were punched and were not playable, no notice before round. Fairways need to be punched as they are so hard you can’t take a divot in most spots. No water on course and it was a 90 degree day. That’s borderline criminal.

I might try again next year but I’m done trying this year. Real shame they can’t get course in decent shape.

Getting there.

Course is much better than earlier in the season. Greens are still really slow and fuzzy. But at least they have grass on them now. Really think it will be next year before it will be in good shape. It’s playable now but barely. Other courses for less in better shape. Pace of play is a also a big negative. Hopefully staff will address that when course gets in better shape. They are moving in the right direction. 5 1/2 hour rounds will kill the comeback if they don’t get a ranger to nudge the pace. . I’ll try again in a couple months. Really want this course to make it.

Not ready for prime time

This was the old Brook Course which was closed a couple years ago and was not in great shape. It is worse now. The greens are not playable. Fairways are basically mowed weed patches. There is little Bluegrass remaining. The new owners did to a lot of updating to ball washers, Hole marker signs, drainage, flags, etc but that is wasted unless they can get the course in at least decent shape. It's not really playable at this point in time. Course layout is the same but back nine has become front nine. I suspect because current front nine is in the worst shape. The current back nine is a little better but still in rough shape for any golf course in this area. If the, owners can get this course in shape, it would at least have a chance. If it stays in the current form, it won't be open long. Most(if not all) golfers won't return to play a second round. I won't . Mike is looking down and frowning :<(

They were closed for 2 years. They were farmed on last year. What did you expect? It is way better than what it was. Do not blame the missed putts and the balls you lost on the course. The course will only get better in time, unlike your golf game.

Good Old school course, small greens, decent layout.

One of the better public courses in Kentucky. Short but challenging from the white tees. A real challenge from the blue tees. Small greens with lots of subtle break. Some with moderate to severe break. A shot placement course. Driver not required on all holes but a well placed shot is rewarded. Easy to let a round get away from you as there is trouble looming at every hole.

Nice course for the money

You pay for what you get in the winter in South Florida, Jacaranda is just that. A fair price for as good a course as you can find in South Florida. Greens roll true, Fairways are lush. Just a nice round of golf. Lots of interesting features to keep it real. A must play for Miami area.
Other courses around for more money that are not near this course in quality.

Big Blue is a great course. Windy but fun

It was very windy but 69deg in late Dec so a perfect golf day. The club house doesn't open until 9:00 so if you get an early time be prepared to just wait and warm up on the practice green until shop opens.
The Greens were very bumpy but it was late Dec. So in very good shape for that time of year. Fairways were in great shape even lush would be a good description. Wind was blowing 20mph sustained(gusts to 30) so it was a challenge to pick the right club for the wind you were playing. You could be playing a 5 iron for 200yds or 130yds.
Course was not busy so pretty much just played golf with no group behind or in front. Great value as it was a "Hot Deal". This is one of the best courses in the area. 5 tee options. We played up "tee #3" due to the wind. Starts with fairly easy holes. Then holes 7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16 can eat your lunch or reward you for a good shot. Lots of placement shots or "go for it" opportunities. First timers should play with someone who has played course or you will find the trouble. Very solid course with shot options for every golfer.

Not GolfNow friendly, REFUSED TO HONOR GOLFNOW TEE TIME! ARROGANT,RUDE STAFF!

After making reservations via Golf now for a 7:50am start was told they don't open until 8:00am and they would "work us in if possible but no guarantees".
Another group made reservations for 7:40am and were told the same thing.
Very rude and unapologetic. Basically said they don't like GolfNow and they can do what they want. Claimed the mistake was due to Golf Now and took no responsibility for it. It's a public course run by old curmudgeons. Finally let us off on back9 35 minutes late. Then held us up when we made the turn to let other golfers who made a "real" reservation by calling the pro shop. Took over 5 hours to play a round. Unprofessional, did I say rude? Mikey Mouse wannabe's.
To top it off, other "regulars" showed up during our wait and were told to go to the starter and would be taken care of. Don't go here unless you want to be treated bad and taken advantage of. Very poor management with completely unapologetic attitudes. AND wait for it..... extra $5 to get into park where course is located.

Course was ok, there is a drought so course is parched in fairways but greens are ok. Golf now should not advertise this course.

Good course, had not healed from aireation

Decent layout, pace was good <4hr, unfortunately greens were very bumpy and slow from aireation. Not sure when that was done but it appeared to be 2-3 weeks ago and not sanded while healing, chips and puts were not consistent due to this. Basically hit green, 2 put, and pick up. Price was $29. Better options in area where greens are in better shape. I would consider play here again as layout was decent but I'll make sure to call course and ask about condition of course first. Played 09/25

Great Course, worth the drive and money

All around great course. Very well maintained. Starter apologized for course condition, some rough was dry? I think he was joking :<) Overall course was in excellent condition. Best in area. Greens fairly fast, I'd guess 8-9. Fairways beautiful, some elevation changes, rare in FL. Not a lot but enough to overcome the bland flat layout a lot of FL courses have. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Kept things moving without being pushy. Just an overall great experience on a well maintained course. Would highly recommend as a must play.

Good course even under overseed conditions

Played White and Gold,
First, course was just open after over seeding. Given the over seed condition it was worth playing but disappointing. Fairways were in great shape. Greens "not so much" but we knew this going in so can't really complain. They were rough and not rolling true. 2 putt and pick it up shape, miss a lot of 4-5 foot putts due to very slow and bouncy conditions. Course is beautiful. Could be a really special round if course was in good shape. Probably try again in a month or so. Over all worth playing just for the scenery. No waste area's which was strange to me in Phoenix. Lots of deep bunkers, forced water carries, forced layup holes. Hole 18 is a monster to reach in 2, 440+ with a forced carry over water to green. Most amateur golfers will have to lay up on this hole. Fairways are fair with bailout areas, Lots of water on white.

Could be a great course but you pay mostly for the TPC name

This is a decent course compared to others in the area. Not a great deal for the $$ considering the other options available. Course was in generally good shape in fairways and rough. Greens were very slow. Would guess a 5 on stimpmeter. If greens were slicked up a bit this could be a 4 star experience. Given very slow green, it was a 3 star outing. Nothing special but a decent round of golf. Good layout, pin placements were generous. If you're playing this course to "Play where the pro's play" Save your $$. Not in any way a professional venue. More of a tourist venue. Guess I fell for it. Probably not again unless I find a round for <$75.

Heron Bay Golf Course

Barely playable, slow groups, Lots of sand traps without much sand in them.

Too many other courses around to waste 4:45-5:00 playing a course in bad condition. This could be a really nice course but it is quickly becoming a goat ranch. Must be in financial trouble to be this bad. Only people playing here seemed to be tourists suckered into the "Site of the Honda Classic" dribble.

Fairways - sparse
Bunkers - not very consistent, Some had rocks (green side)
Greens - Horrible, weeds on greens. Not everywhere but enough to matter. Did not look like they were even mowed recently. Some quick, some slow, some average. Very inconsistent.

The kicker was that we had a 3some go off in front of our 4some. 3 holes in we caught up to them. There was one coach giving lessons to an older lady. In the fairway, on the greens, all the while we were waiting to hit. On the 6th hole we called the pro-shop. A ranger drove by them and right past us a short time later. He did not even acknowledge us. We finally just went up to them on the next tee box and they informed us they were in a group of High school team members. The 4some in front of them had 5 players in it. This was a SUNDAY! lessons are fine but not on what is touted as the "Previous Site of the Honda Classic" which is on every brochure and every advertisement they have. Would not go back for any reason. Marriott Hotel is adjacent to course. It was marginal also. This looks to be a former nice course that is in bad decline. They will only hasten their demise by letting it get this bad and making customers deal with lessons being given on the course.

Good course, really nice staff, could be much more.

Fairways - Sparse very thin, not much grass, but enough to hit from. If you don't like thin lies, go elsewhere.

Rough - non-existent Some grass in areas but not high enough to be called rough. Not that bad considering the very thin fairway grass. Some areas are deadpan so it's hit or miss. Sand is decent but not the fluffy kind some others have.

Greens - Excellent, very fast, rolled true. Not much to complain about.

Layout- decent, blind carries around trees guarding short cuts to greens, standard bunkers in strategic places 190-210yds to carry fairway bunkers, dog leg left and right, etc.

Overall not a bad deal if you can get it for under fifty. Rare for non-resident in South FL.

All and all course was fun to play, pace was good = 4.25hrs.
I would definitely play again. If the fairways were a bit better I would give course 5 stars, which I rarely do. There are challenging holes which makes it a great course to challenge your game. Not a good course to brings friends that whack balls everywhere. Playable but, they will just loose a lot of balls.

I want to mention my partner left wedge at practice green and ranger went and retrieved it for him and brought it out on the course. We were on 5th or 6th hole. Don't usually get that kind of service in South FL. So they get 5 stars for service, Pro shop were very nice also. It really sets the mood for a round of golf when the staff is friendly and accommodating. I wish more courses understood the importance of that.

With a little work this course could be back to it's glory days.

Bring plenty of balls or hit every shot perfectly straight.

Course had "domed" fairways, a "lot" of blind shots, a lot of water with no bail out areas. One hole is 90deg dogleg completely blind shot? They do have markers with yds to center, etc on tee box. Not particularly long but must be absolutely straight or you will loose balls everywhere. Water on both sides, or trees and water. My group also lost balls 5ft from fairway in 6" rough. Driving range was literally a goat patch. Very overgrown field with some flags splattered around. Greens were very slow and uneven speeds. Given this, even if you were a very good golfer that hit every shot straight, the greens did not roll true so what's the point?

On a plus side $29 greens fees were reasonable. TIP: Bring a couple dozen shag balls and just hit until you get a good shot, Play from there and continue. Don't waste time even trying to find balls, just drop as near as possible to spot you last saw your ball and continue. Use course as a practice round. Play skins. Don't keep score for round or it is just a frustrating day for everyone.

Great course, even better value on Golf Now.

Could not beat the value of this course near Hilton Head. Other courses in area were either way more expensive or not in as good shape. Fairways were great, Greens were fair to good. Course layout was tight but not overly so. No houses, lots of water in play.
Hit it straight and no problems. Fair bailout areas on most holes.
Overall a great value. Play this course before you drop a C-note on others in the area then make your decision.
