Red at Gleneagles Country Club
Played On 10/26/2017Great holes and close in
Our group plays the Gleneagles several times a year. We always enjoy playing there although the sand traps need some work. Don't miss the fish sandwiches at the grill after your round.
Red at Gleneagles Country Club
Played On 10/26/2016Watch the bunkers
Our foursome enjoys playing both courses especially the one with the devilish 17th hole. The bunkers were being worked on and they need it. Due to rain right before we played many were filled with water. Not a fault of the course but others needed new sand/raking.
Burnham Woods Golf Course
Played On 07/26/2016hidden gem
Burnham Woods is a course that isn't crowded, at least during the week, but it's a great layout and Billy Casper golf keeps it in pretty good condition. There had been some heavy rainfall two days before we played, but the course drained very well, for the most part. I would highly recommend this course, as well as the other south side courses, Joe Louis the champ and River Oaks, both Cook County Forest Preserve courses.
David L. Baker Memorial Golf
Played On 09/17/2015Great for short game practice
The course, in excellent condition, is great for working on short game shots, as most greens are easily reached in regulation. I played with three local players who were a lot of fun.
River View Golf Course
Played On 09/16/2015Boring
Many of the holes are similar, crossing the Santa Ana river. The day I played was just after a rain and the pro shop guy said it was unusual for the river to have water in it, as it had when I played. Many of the holes cross the river ending up shooting to an elevated green. The bartender/server in the bar (Mike) was friendly and helpful.
Maple Meadows Golf Club - West Eighteen
Played On 09/09/2015Aeration is bad news
When signing up for Maple Meadows the Golfnow site indicated an aearation warning. When we arrived the staff again indicated the course had been recently aerated and, because of that, the greens fee was half price. We appreciated the multiple warnings. However, having played recent aerated courses before, we thought it wouldn't be too bad. But, virtually all of the greens could not be putted on, as there was debris everywhere. The greens also were not in shape discounting the aeration. The layout also seem unimaginative. I would not recommend the course, especially at the regular price.
George W Dunne National Golf Course
Played On 04/09/2015George Dunne in the rain
Our threesome played George Dunne the morning of a big rainstorm. The weather forecast was dire but we were able to play the nearly empty course for 9 holes before the rains came. The course was in good shape and is the crown jewel of the Cook County Forest Preserve courses.
Deltona Club
Played On 02/05/2015The course is fun to play
I played the course on 2-5-15, beginning in a steady rain. The course was virtually empty, but I still enjoyed the varying terrain and the look with a great deal of sand.
Oak Brook Golf Club
Played On 08/28/2014Great course for a great price
The course is fun to play and in great shape. I would recommend it for everyone. We were able to use the $39 coupon in the newspaper that included a cart and range balls. You won't find a better deal anywhere.
Big Run Golf Club
Played On 07/24/2014Don't miss Big Run
I hadn't played Big Run for a few years, but it continues to be a great, fun course, especially at a 18 hole senior rate of less than $40, cart included.
Woodruff Golf Course
Played On 04/17/2014Great value
This was my first time playing the course. I as pleasantly surprised as the course was in excellent shape, especially considering the rough winter we just went through.
