Deerhurst Highlands Golf Course - Deerhurst Highlands
Played On 06/27/2016Muskoka's Grandpa still excites
After all these years this excellent design still gets me excited to return to Huntsville. The day was very hot and the course was dry yet the greens were receptive. A huge thanks to Aaron in the proshop for moving up our tee time that extra 20 minutes as we avoided the torrential rain...just. Drinks are pricey, the view on the the first tee is still one of Ontario's best and the pace of play was very good. All in all my wife and I had a great time and we await for our chance to return in the fall. HIGHLY recommended.
Royal Niagara Golf Club - Escarpment Course
Played On 06/19/2016First Time, Only Time
Upon arrival for Father's Day tradition of a round with my son we were met with an arrogant staff person and a rude cart boy. First we were lied to that carts cannot go onto the parking lot to get your clubs loaded. There were many there when people ended their rounds. Then we were told we could not take a cart to the range or the putting green. After 9 knee operations limiting my walking is the only way I can play. Then, the best one was the girl in the snack shop told us it was illegal to sell us a bag of ice. It was going to be 33 degrees and we wanted to keep the water that we purchased there cold. Then we get to the first tee and we were backed up a full group. The course was average at best (IronBridge/Escarpment), the greens were good. The ONLY saving grace was Mark in the bar afterwards who knew customer service as he was attentive and polite. After our round there he stuck out like a clothed person at a nudist beach. There are many places to play in Ontario and this is one I will choose to never play again. Very disappointing.
Piper's Heath Golf Club
Played On 05/23/2016Impressed
Just a great time had at Piper's Heath. My wife and I arrived with a play and lunch coupon certificate with range. Personal and courteous check-in with no hassle.
The course was in good shape and the greens for spring rolled very true.
Excellent meal afterwards capped off a terrific holiday weekend.
Highly recommended.
Colonial Heritage Club
Played On 07/04/2015Best course of 6 we played
Just an excellent golf course!
Wide fairways ( which were not so nice as we had to play cart path only due to extensive rain night before ), large greens and very well kept course.
Only one blind tee shot that was goofy I remember and the variety of holes was both challenging and terrific design.
Friendly staff made the day complete.
A must play in our books.
Royal New Kent Golf Club
Played On 07/03/2015Awesome Scenery and Layout
The most picturesque course we played on our 6 day romp through Virginia.
A makeshift links layout with many tantelizing carries that in a return visit I may try but initially I would not recommend.
After lots of rain the night before we had many cart path only holes which made for a very long round ( 5 hours ) in very hot weather (95).
The scenery was awesome and the course was in good shape despite the weather.
A definite must but play the correct tees and bring some extra balls...lots of extra balls.
Gold Course at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club
Played On 07/02/2015Amazing Par 3's
We again were lucky enough to be paired up with two members who were a plethora of knowledge of where to hit the ball especially off the tee into these tight fairways.
The 4 par 3's were breathtaking and were certainly the highlight of the round.
Play the correct tees and bring a hot putter and you can score here.
Should be on everyone's list who come to Williamsburg.
Kiskiack Golf Club
Played On 07/01/2015Excelent experience on and off course
Before I get into the course I must thank Kim, Patty and Flo for making my wife's birthday lunch a memorable experience. The food was off the charts!
Excellent layout with a what you see is what you get layout. No tricks, no blind shots a few forced carries but the course was in great shape.
My only complaint, and it is a big one, was we had members behind us hitting into us and rushing us despite the fact we were waiting on every other tee box and most fairways fro the greens to clear. A Marshall is needed and people need to play from te appropriate tee decks!
Highly recommended for a fun, entertaining round of golf and plan to have lunch there. You will not be disappointed.
Gold Course at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club
Played On 06/30/2015Disappointed
On our week long trek through Williamsburg playing 6 courses in 7 days my wife and I were really looking forward to our two stops at the Horseshoe.
Unfortunately with all the rain we were limited to cart path only on many of the holes and this was a real detriment to this hilly and undulating course.
The design is frustrating with many mounds causing your ball to not roll into play but to bounce out of play - even though you hit the fairway - or back up 10-30 yards cause you just missed the landing area.
The greens were slow and inconsistent and although the staff was friendly there was a lack of structure keeping the play moving as we had close to a 5 hour round.
Coming from Canada this course ranked 6 out of the 6 we played.
The Club At Viniterra
Played On 06/29/2015Glad to play with a member
An excellent layout that had is playing 90 degrees since there was so much rain in VA the week before. There are many blind shots so being paired up with a member was a huge break. The fairways were a little spotty but we play lift/clean/place and that made the round fun.
Excellent layout, terrific staff who were polite and accommodating.
Will definitely play when we return.
Guelph Lakes Golf and Country Club
Played On 04/26/2015Wet & Windy
Started off the season at our favorite place to play Guelph Lakes. The course weathered well and albeit some wet areas where carts could not go the greens were in good shape. Nice to see new sand in some of the bunkers.
Great staff, always friendly, helpful and courteous.
All in all a wonderful start to 2015 season despite the cold (8 degrees) and wind.
Definitely not the best experience! We will send your feedback over to Scott our pro and operations manager.
