Shadow Lakes is back!

After a long wait, Shadow Lakes is back to 18 holes! I first want to express my sincere gratitude to all the people behind the scenes that made this possible. Also a ton of thanks to the grounds crew who put in all the work.

I used to play out in Antioch a lot in the mid 2010's, when Roddy Ranch, Deer Ridge, Shadow Lakes and Brentwood were all at it's prime. Since then we have lost Roddy, Deer Ridge, Shadow. I heard rumors about Shadow opening back up, and a while back they opened 9 holes. It was fun to be back, but nothing compared to the full 18. Since the re-opening of 9 holes, they have been working behind the scenes to bring back the other 9. I couldn't tell if this were just rumors or something that was true. Finally, after long anticipation, it opened up the full "original" 18 holes two weeks ago. I couldn't wait to get back and finally made it back on 10/30/23. I was shocked and so happy to be back. I was shocked how beautiful the course was. It was like nothing had changed. I can't imagine all the hard work and planning that went into bringing this gem of the Bay Area back, but again I want to express my thanks. I will be coming out weekly and "donating" my money back to the course to show thanks.

Everything was fun. Greens were fast and hard, traps had sand, tee boxes were nice. I can't even think of anything to criticize!

Walked

Fun old course

I've heard about Sharp Park for years. Finally had the chance yesterday, fun old course. Very walkable, in fact, everybody I saw play walked so I'm glad I brought my push cart.

When reading reviews, I saw that Golf Cart rentals were $50 on top of green fees ($32). That was something that caught me off guard because I've never seen cart rental fees like that before. Course was absolutely worth $32, but I'd say $82 would be pricey.

Overall, what you get is an old style course, some holes are tight, some are open. But most all are lined with big SF trees. Lots of big trees! I had lots of fun and everyone at the facilities were super nice. I will definitely be back!

Fun layout, fun day

First time playing this course. It was a super windy day, basically 20-30 mph all day which always makes it challenging.

Greens were in excellent shape and running fast. The course has a really cool layout with a lot of different type holes. The course is definitely fair, but gets tight at times, especially off a few tee boxes.

When we checked into the clubhouse, the person in the pro shop mentioned to us that 14 of the 18 holes have water, so you need to play somewhat target golf. Really fun though, will be back!

Fun/Challenging course

Made the drive from Walnut Creek area, about a 60 min drive.

Pleasantly surprised by the course layout and how much character there is. As some of the other reviews have stated, the course isn't very long, but does get tight in some spots, lined with trees and OB right/left.

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful with course knowledge with it being my first time. Nice driving range to warm-up with an outdoor bar being open.

Some of the greenside bunkers are either GUR or just unplayable, but it's about 70/30 from what I could tell. Greens were in excellent shape and definitely a challenge. I will be back for the rate/drive/pop/course layout, it was a lot of fun!

Course is starting to show real signs of a comeback!!

This course has had several ups and downs in the past 5-6 years. I've seen it go from incredibly maintained to a non-existent attitude towards mowing, fixing sand traps, etc.

I have to say, this course is really starting to make a comeback. With Deer Ridge, Shadow & Roddy all gone within the past 5 years, I've been playing Brentwood a lot the past few years. Seeing the course get worse and worse. About 6 months ago I was told by staff that the course was really focusing in on fixing fairways/traps/tee boxes and trying to restore the integrity back to it's glory days.

For a while now, they have roped off(making them cart path only) a few holes (1 & 5) trying to bring back the fairways. It has really helped. Although it's understood this kind of plan takes time, it really is starting to show and I'm impressed.

I will keep coming back with the hopes that the course keeps up the promise of doing there job for golfers around the east bay. This is promising and I just wanted to say thanks to those putting in the effort of planning and execution!!

Lots of fun

Great layout. A little bit of a drive but totally worth it. Everyone was super friendly. Tee'd off around 2:30, paired up with another guy who had played the course before which was very helpful.

Tough course to play for the first time with lots of blind shots on par 4s and par 5s.

Course was in excellent condition. I really enjoyed the layout of holes.

I wil definitely be back!

Great conditions and can't beat the price

My buddy and I found some deals for $10 on golf now. Incredible deals, we were totally shocked when we stumbled on them. Basically after 3 PM on a weekday the price drops from $20 (which is still a good deal) to $10.

So we decided to make the drive out there. Once we got there, I booted up the GolfNow app to book the time. Found the $10 time for 3:17 and started the booking process. Once I click on the time, it changed from $10 to $15 because the $10 rate was for their "players club" price. Ok, no biggie, still a great deal fir $15 for 18 holes and a cart, etc.

Now the course. Wowzers, I live in Tracy, so about 3--35 min drive from door to door. And I haven't spent much time in Lodi, but this course was on an awesome piece of property. So beautiful. One of my favorite things was the train that comes jamming by on the 3rd-5th holes, even on the 9th hole your back is basically to the train. I have never experienced that before and being a fan of trains I was totally geeking out.

Course was in great condition, greens were excellent, fairways in great condition. Only thing that their struggling with is their fairways, which is understandable because most all course can't maintain their bunkers in the summer.

Besides the train, the thing I liked most about the course was the variety of holes and how different they were. We played the back tees and some of the holes were very challenging (but fair) considering we were into the wind pretty much all day.

Front 9 par 5's were challenging with lots of trees and lakes. Back 9 par 5s were gettable for the most part.

I will absolutely be back here to play and I think I just found a new regular course for me!
