Eagle Chase Golf Club
Played On 01/23/2024Charles T. Myers Public Golf Course
Played On 01/15/2024Good municipal course.
Wide open course, you won’t lose any balls in the woods here. But there is enough rolling terrain, sand traps and water to make it interesting, fun and challenging. Traps were washed out and unplayable but so are every course in Charlotte area after the heavy rains. Four sets of tees so the big hitters can play here too. Greens were in very good shape, fast with lots of roll and slopes. Playing partners said Troon Management had just taken over management of the course at start of ‘24. One knock - cart paths are in poor condition.
Edgewater Golf Club
Played On 12/26/2023Edgewater in the rain
Despite playing in the rain by myself on the day after Christmas I had a great time. I play the course 2-3 times a year and each time I find upgrades. This time I found brush had been cut between some of the fairways. That leads to being able to find wayward shots and speedier play. Also sand in the bunkers appeared to be new - soft white sand. Bent grass greens are in excellent condition this time of year. New speed bumps on the cart path hills were welcome on the wet and slippery concrete cart paths. I rank Edgewater in the top 5 in the greater Charlotte area.
Cedar Rock Country Club
Played On 09/02/2023One of my favorite courses anywhere.
A couple times a year I drive over 1.5 hours from Fort Mill to play this course in the foothills/mountains. Very scenic views. The.bent grass greens are in excellent condition as are the fairways. My only knock on the course is the rough is a little long and weedy. Spent too much time looking for balls in the rough. This may be from recent rains and the rough being too soft to mow. Overall just a great course and a lot of fun to play.

Cedar Rock Country Club
Played On 06/18/2022Wonderful, challenging course
I drive 85 miles from Fort Mill a couple times a year to play this course. From the parking lot you look out on the front nine up against Mt. Hibriten. The back nine, across the street, is in a valley. Both are very picturesque and well laid out. The course is in great shape and greens are faster than I have seen them previously. Very challenging greens due to roll and slope. Challenging but fun course. Play it this year as they are trying to recruit new members to take the course private.
Rocky River Golf Club at Concord
Played On 04/28/2020Excellent condition.
Course is in great shape. Greens are fast but hold shots. Fairways, rough all well manicured. Traps with bright white sand are also in great shape. I hadn’t played this course in a number of years and I forgot how hilly it is. At almost 70 years old, walking 18 was not a good idea!
Rock Barn Golf and Spa - Jackson Course
Played On 09/28/2019Great layout but...
Jackson course is a great layout. Wonderful change of elevation on most holes from tee to green. Lots of bunkering but well placed to make green access challenging. However, the greens are not good. Lots of unhealed ball marks, black patches, and bare spots on the greens. If the greens were better this course is a 5.
Waverly Woods Golf Course
Played On 10/25/2019Great Course
I played this course for the first time on Oct. 23 and again on the 25th. What a gem! Great layout in the foothills. The course - fairways, tees, greens and bunkers were all in excellent shape. Elevation changes provide great views and very challenging holes. Friendly and helpful staff.
Emerald Lake Golf Club
Played On 07/15/2018Greens need work
I love the course but the greens, all of them, are pock marked. All have dozens of what appears to be ball marks that aren’t healing. Makes for a very bumpy putting surface.
San Tan Highlands
Played On 02/04/2018Course is fine and challenging. Especially the front nine with it's elevation changes. But 4 hrs and 45 minutes to play the round was painful. We were told that is normal for the course.
Cobblestone Park Golf Club - Garnet Course
Played On 11/13/2017Tough but fun
Absolutely love this course. Visually beautiful, hilly, wooded and the best group of par 3's on one course I've ever seen. Each of the three nines has at least one island style par 3 set in water. Course can be long if you don't play from the right tee. I played from the senior tees (club) and it was fine. Cart path only due to overnight rain and that made for a 5 hour round. Normally pace is very good. One negative - no on course restroom that we were aware of. I've played all three nines now and there isn't one hole I would consider a poor design.
Red Bridge Golf and Country Club
Played On 09/25/2017Great course!
Course is in great shape. Large, undulating and fast greens. Fairways are generous but hills and doglegs make it very challenging. No two holes are alike and the setting is wooded and no traffic noise! Tee options make the course playable for all skill levels. One of the best public courses in the Charlotte area.
Chester Golf Club
Played On 05/25/2014Great parklike course.
This course is set in the forest with tree lined fairways. Tree areas are mowed which speeds up play. Fairways are wide but doglegs create challenges as do the large raised greens. Sand bunkers are soft and well maintained. Several holes demand carries over water into the green. Drawback is a lack of food other than hotdogs and vending machines. However a country course worth the drive!
Thanks for taking time to comment and am glad you had a good experience. Please visit again.
