Desert Falls Country Club
Played On 12/21/2023Nice Layout
Had a 6:54 AM tee time. Intentionally played by myself so I could make flight home. With no one in front of me, played in 2:30. Since it was early morning, course was still damp, and temperatures cool so it played longer, especially uphill approach shots and shots from the rough. Tees and some fairways were a bit longer than I think they should have been, but probably just being a bit picky. Greens were generally narrow and many were multi-tiered. Without a GPS on the cart first time playing the course, it was difficult to know where to "miss" on approach shots. Overall, I was very impressed with the course layout, conditions, and value. Will play next visit to Palm Springs.
Mission Hills - Gary Player Course
Played On 12/19/2023Great Condition for December Golf
Very impressed with condition of tees, fairways, and greens. Greens were a little slow (assume due to overseeding) but rolled great. Played this course two years ago in early April and was not nearly as impressed with the course as I was today.
The Classic Club
Played On 12/18/2023A little disappointed
Being December, didn’t expect perfect conditions, but there were a few areas on/around fairways that were a little rough. In addition, the greens were very slow due to excessive moisture from over watering (8:00 tee time contributed). Very friendly staff. $150 green fee (through golfnow) still a bit much vs cost/quality of other course I played the same trip.
Valley of the Eagles Golf Club
Played On 08/20/20224.5 Stars
Completed round in 4 hours with Saturday 7:30 tee time. Course in excellent shape. Greens firm, but generally held well. Greens can be very tough if out of position. Only complaint is lack of paved cart path. Tend to eat allot of dust if you are the second cart in your foursome.
Boulder Creek Golf Club
Played On 07/04/2022Great Course
Typically play once or twice a year. Lucked out with 7:20 tee time through GolfNow for $54 (+ GolfNow fees). Love that no two holes are alike. Course in fantastic shape. Greens rolled great, were firm, but fair. Fairways in good shape. Course doesn't seem to rake traps (at least not before this round). Overall, traps were in good shape. There was a maintenance person meandering through course turning on green sprinklers when there were gaps between players (nice touch for later groups). Starter let other 1/2 of foursome off as we arrived (about 10 minutes early) so ended up playing as twosome. Read reviews commenting about slow play. Finished front 9 in 2 hours and 18 in just over 4 hours (thanks to the golfing gods!). Speculating cart restrictions (typically have to return to cart path once within 100 yards of green) contributes to slow play.
Tanglewood Club
Played On 06/11/2022Interesting Layout
The starter warned the course played longer then the stated yardage. He was not kidding. Most holes had approach shot hitting to elevated green adding one club. No two holes were remotely similar. Played front 9 in two hours. Back 9 took over 2.5 hours. Had to wait on every tee box. Group in front were regulars who said play is never this slow. Had 7:50 tee time. With moisture on greens, they were terribly slow. Speed quickened as greens dried out towards end of front 9. Several intimidating tees shots that weren’t nearly as bad as perceived from tee box.Recommend course.
Resort at Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort
Played On 04/04/2021Great Track
Got a great price for a 7:00 tee time. Played as threesome in less the 3 1/2 hours. Fairways and greens in great shape. Greens were firm, very slow but rolled true. Interesting course with a variety of holes. Hard to comment on staff since limited interaction. Highly recommend.
Rawiga Golf & Swim Club
Played On 08/16/2020Tight fairways and tough greens
Fairways on many holes were pretty tight. Rough was dry and hard, so ball rolls a ton. Greens were in good shape, but very firm. Tough to adjust to crowned/elevated greens where you end up penalized for a decent shot. Tee boxes were very beat up, especially the pars 3's. Last played a few years ago. Too long ago to recall details of holes where local knowledge would be beneficial.
Little Mountain Country Club
Played On 07/25/2020Great layout, great condition
used golfnow hot deal for a nice discount. This is probably the 4th or 5th time playing the course. First time in a few years. Course was in great shape. Played back tees which was probably biting off a bit too much with 3 par 4's on back nine over 450 yards. Had 8:00 AM tee time but greens already firm and fast. Pace of play very good. Only had to wait on a few shots. Can't really comment on off course amenities due to Covid-19 restrictions. Only comment was process for making the turn to the back nine - ended up driving through area of parked carts queued up for next golfers because there wasn't directions on how to get to back nine (minor issue, but wanted to share).
The Classic Club
Played On 04/05/2018Fantastic Experience
Can't say enough about The Classic Club. Had a 12:30 Tee Time (and a $109 rate). The experience literally starts the moment you arrive with complimentary Valet parking. The Club House looks like something from an exclusive, private club. Upon payment, I receive a complimentary Classic Club towel as well as a $15 voucher for food and drink (including on course refreshments).
The price includes unlimited range balls and access to the chipping (and putting) greens. The starter provides you a pager to help ensure you aren't late for your tee time. The only complaint is the tees time reservation on Golfnow did not indicate range balls were included otherwise I would have come a little earlier.
I selected the course because is it rated as one of the top courses in the Palm Springs area. It lived up to the advanced billing. Every hole was different. There were significant elevation changes on some holes. The back nine was much more difficult as most holes seemed to be a dog leg that brought water into plan. Tons of bunkers (2-3 weren't in the best of shape). Greens were firm and rolled true. Almost every hold was a photo opportunity either due to the mountain background and/or the unique design.
After the round, stopped into the bar for a beer (to use the $15 voucher). Unfortunately, they were closing the patio seating due to high winds so had to sit at the bar. Ordered two beers with the expectation it would consume the $15 voucher. As it was happy hour, the total was $9!
In addition, the staff (from the valet to the starter to the bar staff) were fantastic.
I played two other top 10 Palm Springs courses earlier in the week that were incredible, but The Classic Club was the tops. One of the best golf experiences of my life!
Escena Golf Club
Played On 04/01/2018Great Course!
First time playing Escensa. Course was in excellent shape. Greens, fairway and rough were fantastic. The greens were very firm, to the point it was difficult to hold an approach shot with anything more than a wedge or high iron. It was even difficult to repair a ball mark. The greens rolled very true. We played the golf tees. The started warned the the course plays longer than the yardage and he was right.
Played the course since it was listed as a top ten Palm Spring course on several web sites. It did not disappoint.
Shale Creek Golf Club
Played On 08/30/2015Solid Course
I haven't played here in 10+ years, but got a pretty good deal through golfnow. The layout in interesting with a variety of holes/shots. Course is in excellent condition. Fairways green/soft, greens a bit slow (probably due to overnight rain) but rolled nice. Sand traps well maintained. Nice to have complimentary range balls and GPS. It would have been nice for pro shop to warn you that the carts automatically lose power is you go to restricted areas (like leaving cart path on par 3's).
Hi pkapalko1,
We are happy to see you back after ten years! It's great to hear that you enjoyed to conditions of the course, the range balls and GPS. We look forward to having you back!
The Pointe Golf Club
Played On 06/12/2015Nice Course
Greens were is excellent shape. They rolled well and held approach shots. Several of the greens had subtle breaks. The wind (generally a two club wind) made the course play tougher. Most holes are very forgiving off the tee. This course is a must for your visit to the Outerbanks.
Sweetbriar Golf & Pro Shop - Sweetbriar Course
Played On 04/12/2015Good Shape for Mid-April
Overall, the course was in good shape for mid-April as well as having had an inch + rain a few days earlier. The fairways were in very good shape. There was quite a bit of standing water, but you generally had to be off the beaten path to be impacted by it. The greens were a bit slow, but putts rolled true. It was a great value with a $19.99 hot deal (don't expect to see that again). The course will only get better as the weather improves.
Sawmill Creek Golf & Racquet Club
Played On 9/29/2013Country Club Quality at Public Course Cost
There are a few par 4's that run parallel to each other with similar characteristics, but overall an interesting layout with several very unique holes. The fairways were in good condition. The greens were large, challenging and in fantastic shape - they were fast and rolled true. Paid $27 for 18 holes with a Hot Deal. I would consider $40 a great deal for this course. Pace of play was deceptively fast since I played late morning as a twosome with only one foursome to play through.
Grey Hawk Golf Club
Played On 8/24/2013Significant improvement in course conditions over 2012
I played Grey Hawk twice last year and there were significant areas where the grass on the fairways was dormant. Currently, there are issues with the 1st and 9th fairways, but overall conditions very good. The greens were firm and rolled true. The course layout is interesting with a variety of shots required.
The Currituck Club
Played On 6/23/2013Great layout, disappointing greens
Currituck Club is a great layout. The winds make many of the holes even more challenging. The greens condition was very disappointing. They were in good shape, but very, very long (and slow). Some large/sloped greens, magnified the issue. The texture of the greens reminded me of the mats you hit off a driving range. Even with the greens condition, I would gladly play again.
Hi, we appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting Rawiga Golf & Swim Club. We hope to see you again in the future.
