Willows Run Golf Club - Coyote Creek Course
Played On 12/07/2014Soggy, muddy, and pointless
I have played hundreds of golf courses. And I have played most of them in the rainy, wet, green, Pacific Northwest. I am forgiving and understanding when it comes to sub par conditions, but not conditions like this. I played the coyote creek course. It was barely called a course. The fairways and second cut seemed unmowed, everything was mud/standing water. Standing water in the sand traps, and the greens we bumpy, uneven, no ball marks replaced, and spongy. The conditions were unbelievably poor.
Tierra Rejada Golf Club
Played On 11/20/2014Pretty and challenging course.
Fun track! Fast and true greens, lots of elevation changes, and in good shape for the price. Pace wasn't extremely fast but it was worth it for the price.
Oak Quarry Golf Club
Played On 11/19/2014Perfection!
What a fantastic track. Exciting and unique holes, fast and true greens, elevation changes, and unreal views. This track was completely worth it and I will be playing it again. A true gem
Number One at Brookside Golf Club
Played On 11/18/2014A standard Municipal
Pace was very slow. LOTS of 5-some's (which I didn't know courses supported), but the course was fine. Fairly flat and open. But nice that the course has been there and is fully developed.
Oakbrook Golf Club
Played On 10/26/2014Pretty cramped and nothing that makes it stand out
If you enjoy narrow fairways splitting housing developments with a club who carries themselves like a wannabe private track, this place is for you. Not friendly staff (except in the restaurant, they were great), cart path only, slow greens, and slow pace of play. Anytime I don't like a course I give it one more try a couple months later, but it did not live up to expectations.
The Golf Club at Hawks Prairie - The Links
Played On 07/13/2014Enjoyable course that isn't too easy.
I had played the woodlands 18 but never the links. Greens weren't incredibly fast but were consistent, and fairways were in good shape. I think the course is a bit pricy but still very pretty and enjoyable.
Madrona Links Golf Course
Played On 06/22/2014Enjoyable short course
Very fun little public course in Gig Harbor. The greens were surprisingly fast and the conditions were great. For the money it was totally worth it.
Tumwater Valley Golf Club
Played On 04/06/2014Wet but enjoyable.
Never played this course until recently. It's been a very wet winter and the course had it's drainage issues. But we weren't overcharged so we didn't complain. Greens were fairly true. Pro shop staff and restaurant employees were all great. Will play again during summer when it's dried out.
Alderbrook Golf Club
Played On 03/23/2014Fast greens, short, enjoyable.
Played Alderbrook with two buddies and we had a fun time. We preferred holes 10-18. The clubhouse was nice and new and the pro shop staff and restaurant were both great. Hole 8 is the strangest par 5 you'll ever play with 2 extreme dog legs. Overall it's a fine course with fast greens.
The Phoenician Golf Club
Played On 03/07/2014A must play course.
The course was pristine, the staff was friendly and helpful, the greens were fast and true. It is a resort course 6,250? Yardage But still challenging. It was such a fun experience. Beautiful course. Make sure to eat upstairs at Relish burger bistro and to keep it in the fairway.
Bear Creek Golf Complex - Cub Course
Played On 03/05/2014What a great par 3 track.
I was visiting Arizona from Washington state and we had been playing 36 a day. We had a springtraining baseball game so we decided to hit up Bear Creeks executive course because of time constraints. It was the right decision. The executive course was manicured, watered, lush, greens were true and consistent, and the staff was great. What a fun executive course.
Ahwatukee Country Club
Played On 03/03/2014Fun track playing through homes
This was a fun track, surprisingly not as narrow as you'd think through a development. Snaphooks and slices would result in a broken window. I'm sure the course is usually slow, for this is Arizona and a retirement community but our pace that day was fine. Fun track, will play again.
Apache Creek Golf Club
Played On 03/02/2014Fun desert course, needs some work.
Before I say anything negative about this course, please know it was also bad timing. I booked a tee time the day after two days of Arizona rain (the first rain in 75 days) so the course conditions probably don't accurately reflect what the course Is really like. That being said, the course was just ok. Greens weren't very consistent, pace of play was pretty slow, and the whole course wasn't very manicured. It is always fun to golf and it was a beautiful day so that's where my complaints end.
Eagles Pride Golf Course - Blue/Green
Played On 02/26/2014Fun course, right price.
Eagles pride couldn't be easier to find, the clubhouse/pro shop are very nice and new, and the facilities were in pretty good shape. They only run one 18 hole during the winter and 27 holes during the summer. The course has it's challenges and it inexpensive. Definitely worth the trip.
Auburn Golf Course
Played On 02/19/2014Soggy but still fun.
I played this track for the first time this week. It's an enjoyable Muni with tricky greens and a great clubhouse. Obviously winter weather isn't helping out any course in western Washington so the fairways were soggy! Water was collecting in sand traps. I'm sure this is a super fun course during the summer but drainage was a problem for us. Lots of plugged balls. Regardless golf now had a great deal and I will be playing here again soon.
Cedars at High Cedars Golf Club
Played On 02/12/2014Only play if you get a deal
I've played this course 20 times, and yesterday was the worst shape I've seen it in. I didn't post a terrible review because I've played here during the summer and it's much better. The greens were pretty inconsistent and 5 fairways were almost entirely saturated, yet they still want 50$ for 18 and a cart (99% of winter they run cart path only). They moved a lot of tee box placements and didn't manicure them. I will be much more happy for summertime around this place.
Camarillo Springs Golf Course
Played On 01/26/2014Used to be in great shape, lost it's charm.
Played this course with three friends and was very disappointed. We were visiting from washington state. It was roughly 50$ And completely not worth it. I have reviewed over 60 courses through golf now and this is one of 3 I don't reccomend. Lots of brown grass, poor bunkers, slow greens, thousands of birds (and their droppings) everywhere, it played 11 holes then the turn then a short back (???), and for about 7 holes it truly smelled like a sewer. I was bummed about the cost to condition ratio.
Sandpiper Golf Course
Played On 01/24/2014Beautiful, expensive, ocean course.
I went on a golf trip to California with my dad and a buddy and we played this course on a reccomendation. It was worth the drive to Santa Barbara. Very pretty course and it does play along the ocean with one hole playing down to the ocean. Staff was great and it really is a fun course. Greens were true and probably ran at an 11.
Moorpark Country Club - The Canyon Crest Golf Course
Played On 01/23/2014Fun course, nice staff, worth the cost.
Although the club is semi private my experience was a good one. I was visiting from Washington state and wasn't treated any worse for not being a member. In fact the starter was super kind and helpful. They have 3 nine hole tracks which was great. The greens were true, and the course didn't have any gimmes. Nice practice facility and big clubhouse. Definitely worth checking out!
Wildhorse Golf Course
Played On 11/29/2013Nice greens, steep rates for the quality, unique layout
I played wildhorse for the first time this last Friday. We teed off at 6:55 right as the sun was coming up. I was visiting from Washington state and didn't know what to expect. Rates were pretty high (50$ for 18/cart) but we wanted to get as much golf in as possible so we booked it. Course layout is a little different but nothing negative. Fairways were manicured and the greens were the best part. Fast and true. They were superb. My complaints was the rough, second cut, and bunkers. Poor shape, needs a lot of attention. But for what it was the round was fine. Pace was acceptable and the younger guy in the pro shop treated us super well.
