Conditions Were Perfect!

The conditions of the course were absolutely perfect. Fairways and greens were well-manicured and rolled very smoothly. The bunkers were raked and had plenty of sand, making them very playable. They had the rough shaved down a bit, which made the open layout play fairly. Played in just about four hours on a Saturday, which was very nice. Overall, it was a very enjoyable round on a course that is in beautiful shape!

Links Feel with Great Course Conditions

This course was great to play. The first and 18th are exact replicas of he Old Course, which is kind of a cool feel. The rest of the course plays with large undulating hills and tough approaches to the green. Some holes lacked framing, which led to confusion about where to drive and approach. Greens are massive, and he fact that they run so fast/smooth will surely lead to three-putts. Overall, a really fun round that is nothing like what you'll find in FL.

Not An Enjoyable Experience, Will Never Return

I will start by saying that even playing the round in right around two hours and playing very well, I STILL left the facility extremely disappointed with my golfing experience. The tee box, fairway, and rough are all the same length. Add to this that it was slightly wet (prone to plugging), and finding drives that were right-down-the-middle was even an adventure! The course layout was not very well-organized, with paths constantly crossing directly through fairways and occasionally leading you away from greens and tee boxes. With the old-school gas powered carts, good luck getting up some of these hills!

The greens were in reasonable condition, minus the fact that they badly needed to blow off the debris. On short putts, I would brush dirt and such off the line; on longer putts, I would have needed a broom to even make a solid attempt.

With a lot of work, this course could be a very fun round. There are plenty of elevation changes, with reachable par fives and even some drivable par fours (thanks to a 30 mph wind at my back!).

Overall, when you really play great and it is a beautiful day, it really says something about the condition to leave the course saying to yourself, "I will never return to this place again!"
