Glen Gorse Golf Club
Played On 06/04/2021£35 Fee!!!!! Well worth it.
In the area on Business and due to a last minute opportunity booked this course through Golf Now.
It’s unlikely that I’ll play this course again just due to work circumstances but here is what we found.
Obviously due to our late booking we paid more than some of the green fees offered but I have to say it was worth every penny.
We play all around the country but I play mostly in the North West where we are very fortunate to have a ton of great courses.
I thoroughly enjoyed Glen Gorse and can I say in all honesty that it had some of the best green I’ve seen anywhere this year.
Immaculate.
Offers you a real opportunity to challenge your handicap and rewards good shots.
The rough, semi rough and fairways were very well kept and the overall course conditions reflect the large number of staff we saw working the course as we played.
We had a number of interactions with the lads working the greens, bunkers and fairways and to a man they were very friendly and polite and are a real credit to the club.
A course in fantastic condition you won’t be disappointed whatever fee you pay.
Cosby Golf Club
Played On 06/02/2021Great day poor greens
Before I start I’d like to say I played two very enjoyable rounds and this is a lovey course with great staff who made us feel very welcome.
I play all around the country 2/3 times a week from council run Municipals to Premier courses and invariably I enjoy them all.
I understand the challenges faced by green staff with usage and the weather etc however I have to be honest and tell it like it is.
We found the greens almost unplayable due to over sanding and what I suspect may be an irrigation issue for this lovely club.
It was essentially a lottery and pointless to even try to approach puts with anything like a serious read or method.
With 5 Handicappers in our group we ended up picking up and walking off each green once we’d got on to most of them.
I still enjoyed the course and would play it again rather than not play at all but for serious golfers I looking to challenge their HC, I would recommend that you pay the extra fees and play Glen Gorse Golf club nearby where we found some of the best greens I’ve seen this year.
Leasowe Golf Club
Played On 10/05/2020A credit to the staff
Had the opportunity to play here through the Wirral Police Golf Society for the first time.
Very impressed with the condition of the course overall
In particular I thought great care had been taken to define the fairway/semi rough and reward straight shots.
Best maintained bunkers I’ve seen since lockdown.
Some very interesting holes
The blind shot over the ‘Castle wall’ on the huge par 5 is a blast
I definitely recommend people try this course and If the weather is good the sea views are worth the green fees alone.
