Raven Golf Club At Snowshoe Mountain
Played On 09/03/2020It'll take two or three years to get this course back in condition
They lost their pumping system, and then when they got it back on line a lightning strike took it out again. I suppose those are circumstances beyond their control, but they need to just close the course. We played it in a tournament yesterday, and it certainly wasn't worth the money nor the time it takes to get there. The Tee boxes are weeds, and the greens are only half there. There are splotches of grass here and there with dirt in between. There is no way to line up and putt unless you happen to be a couple feet from the hole and on grass. Fairways were in pretty good shape, but due to a large amount of rain it was cart path only and they were soaked. I don't believe they will get these greens back in shape for a couple years. It would almost pay to close the course, strip the greens of what little bit of grass is left and reseed them. At least you'd have a consistent cover. I know from what I've been told it's not their fault, and they are supposing to give a green fee discount, but unless the discount is 100%, there's not much reason to play this course right now. It needs a lot of work.

Played On 05/14/2018"In Transistion"
When we started the round the starter told us the greens were a hybrid and were "in transition". We tried to decide if the transition was from bad to worse or other. 14 of the greens were almost unplayable from just about anywhere on them. They were burnt with big patches of black. A long putt was so bumpy the ball could bounce a cup either way. Some of the fairways had patches also, but were nowhere near as bad as the greens. Would be a nice course if it weren't for the greens.

An excellent course. Shot placement required. If he winds blowing don’t go for the 9th green, take the closest area on the right, save your score! Greens were slow, but rolled true. Fairways were tight, but green. Entire course well maintained. Play it if you’re in the area

First time playing this course, and it's been pretty wet. We had cart path only, but still played in four hours. Greens were in good shape and were rolling true. Fairways, for the amount of rain we've had were in good shape also. I didn't eat any of the food so can't rate that, but all the staff were very nice and friendly. I liked it so much I went back the next day also
