Played On 07/04/2020Great if you like 5 hour rounds!
First nine there was a tournament ahead of us--you know what means hackers and drinkers. The marshall came over to my two daughters (playing two groups behind us) and told them to keep pace--they are single handicap players who could not hit due to being able to hit is to so far--very insulting!
On the back nine no marshall to be found as a family of 8 (not kidding) played as a group--most of them little kids. And in front of them a group of 4 with one in the group deciding he would teach the others...but could not hit it 10 yards. They played 3 shots each from the tee--no marshall...
Will not play there again.

Waiting minutes on every shot. If you like that then this is the course for you!!

Played On 07/14/2016if like 6 hour rounds this is the place for you!
No reception at Bag Drop (why even have one?)
started off ok but then waited 25 minutes to tee off on the 6th hole and every shot thereafter was a wait.
Watching the group ahead take 3 practice swings for every shot and then hit it 10 yards was fun.
And the marshall came around and said it is slow today.
Ni kidding???

The pace was brutal--worst I have ever seen. And it was not just the typical three practice swings then stand over the ball for 30 seconds then hit it 50 yards player--it was the way the course booked for the day.
It was awful--I was praying for rain.
I will not play there again.
Peter4838637,
Please accept my sincere apology for your bad experience at our family golf club. There is no excuse for slow play. I appreciate the frustration you must felt playing behind new golfers--mainly since they are unaware that they should invite faster groups to play through.
This season, we have undertaken many programs to help mentor new golfers and restructure our tee sheet to add space between groups. Unfortunately, your round did not highlight the benefit of these changes. I copied this response to our staff to review our on-course management systems. Your experience highlights a need for us to be more active with coordinating faster groups through developing players.
Would you please reach out to me directly to discuss the details of your experience? I want to discuss your experience, correct where we have gone wrong, and attempt to repair your opinion of Mayfield.
Please reach out to me directly at christopherdelaat@mayfieldgolfclub.com.
Sincerely,
Christopher de Laat, CPGA
