Sauganash Country Club
Played On 07/20/2019Well designed, older, value course for the area.
A good design on a nice piece of land. The greens have definitely recovered from whatever issues they were having in years past as they rolled true and had no noticeable damage
No range, not much of a putting green, and the 1st tee being 3 steps from the parking lot puts a little pressure on you to start the round.
A.W. Tillinghast actually had some sort of hand in work/design of the front 9.
I'll be back to check out this quirky old course again.
Angels Crossing Golf Club
Played On 05/04/2019Wide fairways, wider greens.
Angels crossing is an extremely fun course for any type of golfer. Fairways are huge, greens are even bigger it seems. Hit the correct quadrant of the greens to avoid 100' lag putts.
Sage Run Golf Club
Played On 09/29/2018Great contrast to Sweetgrass.
Sage run is a great contrast to Sweetgrass.
**DISCLAIMER**
The course is new! If you haven't played a newer course before, they can sometimes be rock hard for a couple of years, especially it is isn't a premier 5star resort, add to that, that there is naturally a lot of bedrock in this area of Northern Michigan.. it isn't going to play like your local beer league course.
There are a few quirky holes that would be much better with a caddy or some course experience, but the layout is fun, the course is scenic, and it's a great compliment to Sweetgrass. I honestly enjoyed the round here more than I have enjoyed my rounds at Sweetgrass.
Give it a chance, don't be turned off by the previous reviews.
The Club at LochenHeath
Played On 08/25/2018One of the Traverse City area's best courses!
Lochenheath is a gem. Great golf, great food, great experience.
Steve Smyers design has fun on every hole, conditions are always superb, and the staff has always been gracious and accommodating.
Make a trip before it goes private!
Warren Golf Course At Notre Dame
Played On 08/01/2018Coore/Crenshaw public gem
This Coore/Crenshaw course is just a few miles from my house. Such a fun course at a great price.
Stoatin Brae at Gull Lake View Golf Club and Resort
Played On 10/03/2017One of SW Michigan's finest public courses already.
Renaissance design has built a gem into some of the best land in the Kalamazoo area. The back 9 is spectacularly laid out.
Tobacco Road Golf Club
Played On 03/17/2017The most fun I've ever had on a golf course
Mike Strantz broke every unwritten rule of course architecture when he did this one. There are blind shots all over the course, huge huge huge bunkers and waste areas. Every single hole is fun and has you wondering what will come next. I will go out of my way to make it back here as often as possible.
Myrtle Beach National Golf Club - King's North Course
Played On 03/15/2017Great course : poorly managed
I usually dont mind having to wait a bit when golfing, it just is what it is.. we had the first teetime of the day. We then had to wait 10 minutes after our scheduled teetime to start.. Not sure why.. then got sent off the back 9 first. Naturally when we hit the turn and got to one there was a 4 some on the green and a 4 some on the fairway so we got to wait the rest of the round on them.
When we finished the round I parked the cart right where I picked it up from, as I'm getting out a teenage kid yelled from 30 yards away to "bring the cart over here"
Fun, challenging, and scenic course. But the staff and management need to adjust their focus.
Caledonia Golf & Fish Club
Played On 03/14/2017Low country Strantz gem.
Great track in low country near Myrtle Beach. Strantz knew how to design a golf course.
Caledonia Golf & Fish Club
Played On 03/14/2017Strantz=Genius
Great course by a great architect. Every hole keeps you on your toes. A lot of fun.
Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club
Played On 03/11/2017Tough Donald Ross design with challenging greens.
It seems like every single green is crowned and surrounded by bunkers.. I found more than a few, yet still had a blast playing here. Great layout, course was in great shape even with a recent cold-spell. Great Donald Ross track.
