Great Course, Rough Fairways

The course was great, and it was definitely challenging to hit fairways with how tight the tree-lines. To offer a little criticism as to what would really elevate it into a really nice course, they need to:

- Cut and roll the greens more often
- Work on the fairways a bit (consistently patchy)
- Put some new sand in the bunkers

*I understand its been quite rainy, how long it can take, and how costly it can be to repair these issues*

Green Lakes State Park - Great Course

I may be slightly biased on how I feel about this course, because I have always been a fan of any Robert Trent Jones course that I've played. This course's layout is awesome, and it is kept in great shape. I've played it numerous times, and have enjoyed every round that I've ever played here. The greens are all riddled with bunkers, and for an added challenge, almost every single green has some sort of twisted slope to it. The fairways are always kept up to standard, and are mowed short. The rough can sometimes be an absolute pain because of the length, but it gives that extra challenge, especially with the changing elevation. The greens roll well, not too fast, but not too slow. Water hazards are nearly non-existent, but being in a mountainous state park, the trees suffocate the course in an amazing way. It is a very popular course in the area, and therefore can sometimes get backed up pretty badly with slow players. The scenery makes up for it though, and one can see wildlife roaming the course (deer, turkey, chipmunks, etc...). Holes that are adjacent to the access road in the park will usually be teeming with hikers, bicyclists, and those out to take a stroll with their dogs. Love this course, and would recommend it to anyone I know!

Camillus CC - Awesome Course

This was my first time playing Camillus Country Club in a few years, and I was able to play two rounds on back to back days. The greens were rolling unbelievably fast, and the fairways were in great shape! The rough was thick and made it a decent challenge, if you miss the fairways. The elevation changes throughout the course made it even more challenging, and the trees line every hole, making accuracy necessary for scoring. There aren't many water hazards, and the water hazards that do exist aren't very relevant. Multiple holes have bunkers, and they can offer a challenge for those who are not very accurate on approach shots. I shot 78 (+6) for my first round, and pulled off a 72 (Even Par) for my second round. Excited to play this course again, soon! I would recommend this course to anyone I know, whether the player is experienced or inexperienced.

Millstone GC - Highly Recommend

First time playing this course in three years, and all I can say is that they really have improved the conditions of this course. The fairways were great, and the rough was thick, but was perfect for a challenge. Most of the greens rolled consistently, and a few of the pin placements were made challenging but fair. The first hole is a little wet down the left side, but that is from the recent, rainy weather. The course is lined with trees, so accuracy is a key to scoring well, but even from the back tees, it isn't too long. I would highly recommend this course to anyone wanting a little challenge in Central NY.

Rogues Roost WEST - Nice Course

Was supposed to play the East Course at Rogues Roost, but the recent weather has made the East too wet to play. The West was still wet, but the conditions were still playable with comfort. The wind made the course a little challenging, especially with some of the holes being wide open. The course was great though, and the greens were rolling very well. The fairways were dry enough to play, and the rough was long, while still being tamed. The food in the restaurant, at the turn, was great, and the staff was extremely friendly. I would highly recommend this course to anyone I know for a fun afternoon round, and am excited to play the East course when the course dries up.

Tecumseh Golf Club - Do Not Play in Rain

Extremely short, 9-hole course, and in good weather seems like it would be a fun time. The weather combined with the uncut, thick rough made it an annoying round. There is one par 5 (#7, I believe) that is longer compared to the other holes. Beware of the soccer-golf holes that are placed along the fairways. Again, this course would be a way to get in a fun, quick round, but the rain made it nasty. The staff that I met are extremely friendly, and are enjoyable to talk to. Would recommend the course to beginners and weekend duffers.

Lakewood CC - OK Course

This course is very short, and is great for those who may be beginners or unable to hit the ball long. The course conditions were average, but it isn't quite the season yet. Holes sit at two different polarities, some having little to no hazards or trees, and others being riddled with trees and bunkers. I can imagine the course being nice, during normal season, but long grass in the fairways and large quantities of geese droppings were not pleasant. The price was a little much for the current conditions. Would recommend this course to friends who are just learning to play. WIll play again later in the season for sure.

Atlantis - Good Course

The course layout was great, but the greens were a little rough in some places, but mostly due to lack of detailed care. I played the course on a GolfNow Hot Deal, and for the price it was a great 18 holes that gave a decent challenge. The yardage markers were very minimal with some holes having none at all, and the area behind some greens were rough sandy patches of grass. This made it tough to make up and down if the ball rolled off the back. The thicker rough made the course a great challenge if the ball wasn't placed in the fairway. Did get to see some wildlife throughout the course, including a group of deer that ran across the 9th green. Would still recommend this course to anyone that's trying to get in some golf.
