Good course but bad players

The course is in good shape.
Shame on previous player that day. The Greens were full of ball marks and the sandtraps was not mended after they visited them. Shame, shame, shame.

Great course

Condition was fine. Pace was a bit slow but with good company and nice weather it was no issue.

Great afternoon for golf.

The course was in great conditions considering how wet it was after the weekends rain. It was car path only. The fairways was pretty clear of leaves but the semi ruff was not and that could have been better. that slowed down the play traying to find the ball in the leaves. Therefore there was a slow pace and we waited on most of the holes. Sometimes up to 10-15 min.

Never again on Magnolia Green

The Golf course was in excellent condition from tee to green. Staff was friendly and helpful. Both in the restaurant, shop and at the starter. The layout was poor with too many hidden holes. It was not well marked where there were bells and not. They provide a course guide. You will need it, so don't drop it! The pace was slow. We waited on every single shot. 4.45 hours in total. I was on the green ready to put having my stans when a ball from the team behind rolled on to the green. When you hit a good shot in the center of fairway you shall not be punished to find it in a sandtrap or in the ruff on one side if the fairway have a slope from side to side. The course guide do not indicate angled fairways. Sandtraps shall be of preventative nature and catch misdirected shots to increase the pace and not to slow down the play. The Architect who created the course did not have his best day! I had expected a beautiful course but it was also disappointing.

I've played in the Richmond area all my life and I can honestly say that you are dead wrong about this course. There's a reason why it was rated top 10 best new courses by Golf Digest in 2015. Whether you played in 4 hours and 27 minutes or 4 hours and 45 minutes (it's hard to tell from your comment) pace of play for Magnolia Green is 4 hours and 45 minutes. It's clearly marked in multiple places on the golf course. So you didn't play slow, you just wanted to complain because you had to wait on a group in front of you. Also, Magnolia Green is one of the few courses that actually give you a yardage card along with your scorecard. Most places charge you for a yardage book. Furthermore, if a bunker is in the middle of the fairway, don't hit it there (easier said than done). If you hit your tee shot in a bunker off the tee it isn't a good shot. Nicklaus Design (Course Designer) is known for adding fairway bunkers and undulating fairways to add a degree of difficulty to their golf courses. If you were concerned about blind shots it sounds like you had ample time to survey your upcoming shot because of all the "waiting" you had to do so there's no excuse. It sounds like you didn't have your* best day and just wanted to complain and blame it on the golf course.

Great course

Williamsburg National is a great club. They have two excellent courses. James Town and York Town. Tee box, fairway and Greens are in excellent conditions. Today it was around 90F so a cart was beneficial. I would like to have the option to walk if I would like to. If you are not a member it is not permitted. Strange?

Good course in a good condition

The course is currently in a good condition. The tee box, fairways and greens are solid and well maintained. One bunker was hard after the rain but the other where OK. Staff is friendly and helpful. I will come back and I can recommend it.

Dissapointed

We play the course 4-5 times per year and it is normally a great course to play. However, this round was a big dissapointment due to the course condition. Tee box were dirt, fairways was not as they used to be and the greens was aired and not proparly dressed so putting was just a pain. To pay full green fee to play a course in this condition is bad.

Good condition

The course was in good condition in spite the wet. We had to stay on the car path but that supported the course to be in such a good condition. The greens were in good conditions. Not to fast and consistent.
