Oak Valley in Great Shape

Haven’t played Oak Valley in a couple of years. And was very pleased that I decided to play it on Father’s Day. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were all in great condition. Pace of play in a threesome was less than 4 hours. Very enjoyable round!

What a Treat!

Course was in excellent condition - greens, fairways and tee boxes. Many doglegs and penalty areas, mainly water. Plus OB stakes are prominent. But fairways are wide so keeping it in play is not too hard. Played in 4 hours on an afternoon. Will definitely play again on next visit to HHI.

Terrific Track!

Although only 6326 from back tees, course plays longer with five par 4s over 400 yards and two par 3s at 190+. Very scenic with elevation changes. Great condition. Greens were perfect and good pace. Very nice layout and fun to play. A little off the beaten path but worth the trip to Fillmore CA.

Interesting Layout

It’s almost like the course has 3 personalities. You cross roads twice with different looks and terrain. Some cool looks with mountain backgrounds. Back nine has three par 3s, par 4s and par 5s. Good variety of distances on par 3s. Tee boxes were average, fairways not in very good shape. Saving grace were good (and quick) greens. Pace of play was good: 4:15. Limited resources in clubhouse. Good value for the money.

Dr. Jekyll / Mr. Hyde Course But All Good!

Front nine has a lot of short holes, with water in play on about half of them. There is a malfunction junction where five holes have their greens or tees very close together and a series of low fences protecting the players from potential mishits. Back nine has a stretch of 5 long holes with minimal water. Course is in really nice shape and greens are very good. Pace of play was great because we were the second group out. Good practice area including a short game area. Enjoyable course and a good test for any level player..

Well-conditioned and very fair layout with great views of historic hotel!

First chance to play this course and it was delightful. Plenty of great views of the historic hotel, especially on the back nine. Very well maintained course - greens had been aerated a few weeks ago and putted well. Greens are large and typical of Ross's turtle back style. Front nine is fairly benign and back nine has more water hazards coming into play. Fairways are extremely forgiving - very wide. Many fairway and greenside bunkers. Plenty of wildlife - saw many iguanas, a manatee and a croc or gator on a bank! Easy walking course (but I rode as my GolfNow deal included the cart). Very nice clubhouse and ample pro shop. Pleasure to play and looking forward to the next time.

Great layout and condition, lots of water for wayward shots

Course was in great condition although greens had been aerated in past few weeks. Still rolled well. #10 is normally a par-5 but playing as a par-3 due to the temp home for McLean's school while the Blue Monster is being renovated. No driving range but nets to hit balls to loosen up. Plenty of water hazards to grab wayward shots. Staff very friendly. Great price thru GolfNow.
