Stonebrook Golf Course
Played On 06/29/2015Started in the Fog
I purposely picked the first Tee time so I could play fast and accomplished that by finishing in 2:25. The fog rolled in after I arrived and played the first 4 holes almost blind. The sun came out and the balance of the round was wonderful. Greens (fast), fairways, and tee boxes were in great shape. I had not played here in several years, but was glad I came back. Staff in the Pro shop couldn't have been friendlier.
The Amelia River Club
Played On 06/14/2015Super Sunday
Played as a two-some going off at 3:00 on Sunday we traversed the course in just over 3 hrs. Course was in excellent shape, tee to green. Greens had been verti-cut, but didn't detract from our experience and were still fast and true. Staff was super friendly, but no cart person on course. Open views of the river and airport give the course a different feel than just pine and oak trees of most area courses.

Played On 05/23/2015Wonderful Greens
It had been many years since I've played this course and had to see if the reviews were accurate. They were and the greens are perfect. Not as fast at St. Johns CC, but are dense and roll true. The balance of the course was in excellent shape, bunkers were well kept and tee boxes has plenty of grass. Starter was a nice chap, clubhouse guy was friendly, and the cart girl was efficient.

Played On 04/29/2015Nice afternoon at the course
Playing as a two-some in the afternoon we moved along nicely. Greens were good and rolled at a good pace. Fairways, bunkers, and rough were well kept. Starter was a nice guy and helpful since we started on the back. Tee boxes were in great shape. Very playable course from the right tees.

Played On 04/05/2015Nice Saturday Afternoon
Two of us teed off at 1:37 Saturday trying to beat the rain and we did for 15 holes. After a 30 min rain delay, we finished up. Played behind a 5-some, but they moved along pretty well. Course is in fantastic shape for early April. Fairways are generous, bunkers have nice sand, greens were plush and a little slow. Even with the rain, it was a great afternoon. The guy at the pro shop was very courteous.
Queen's Harbour Yacht & Country Club
Played On 02/25/2015Always a great Course
As usual Queens Harbor delivers. Course in general and the green were great. Lack of rye made them fast and true. Many breaking putts that offered quite a challenge. Bunkers were in great shape, I'm sad to say. Staff was very friendly especially the nice young lady at the front desk. Cart guys were great too. Even a little drizzle didn't dampen our round. My out of town guest from Denver really loved the layout and the views of the marsh and harbor.
South/North at Fernandina Beach Municipal Golf Course
Played On 02/16/2015Getting Better
First time back in 2 years and was happy to see the progress all around the course. Some areas had been opened up around the greens and in other dense areas to make the course more Park-like. Fairways and Tee boxes were in good shape. Greens were true and extremely fast due to no over-seeding. The South Course was very nice with all the changes. Pace of play was excellent even on a holiday. Would recommend to all levels.
Trident Lakes Golf Club
Played On 12/26/2014Back after a long break
Had not played this course in years, but glad to see it was in nice shape. Greens had plenty of rye, so they were a little slow. Wind always plays a factor here and I had forgotten about some of the hidden water hazards. Our 2-some was paired with another and it made for an enjoyable round. Pace of play was reasonable for the day after Christmas.
The Golf Club at North Hampton
Played On 09/10/2014After the Rain
Took some out of town guests and we all had a wonderful time. Had to wait out a 45 min rain storm, but once back on the course and it had some time to drain, we all enjoyed the round. The rain ran off a few people and we zipped around in 3.5 hours without rushing. Greens were in fantastic shape, fairways had plenty of grass, and the tee boxes were well manicured. My guest loved the rolling terrain and thought the course challenging but fair. It was a great value for all.
Magnolia Point Golf & Country Club
Played On 06/29/2014Back after long absence
I had not played this course in over 25 year, but was very pleased with the conditions. Tee boxes and fairways were very nice. The greens were very good given the condition of others in the area. Some green were showing sighs of fungus kill, but most had excellent grass and the problem areas were mostly around the perimeter of the greens. Playing from the white tees, the fairways are generous. Greens are large with abundant grass to chip from if you miss. Even with a 30 min rain delay in the middle, we had a great time.
The course lived up to all my expectations.
I have heard about Sanctuary Cove from a co-worker that has played with his usually Saturday group and he bragged about its beauty and condition. He did not exagerate, it was in fine shape: tee boxes, fairways, greens, sand traps, everything was in excellent shape. 2 of us played on a Wednesday afternoon in 3 1/2 hours and almost didn't see anyone on the course. Beautiful routing thru the trees and around the marsh. Very playable from the white tees with generous fairways and lush greens. Only saw a few spots on the greens that would be questionable. The course is just a 1/4 mile off I-95 south of the road to Jekyll Island, so very easy to get to from Jacksonville. In much better shape than most Jacksonville courses...well worth the drive, especially on the Golfnow deals. Rectangular sand traps were an interesting feature. Even though greens were elevated, there was plenty of nice grass to recover. I will definitely return.
Sounds like a nice little Sunday ARobbi! We'll look into no cart person on couse but overall, we are glad to hear you had such a great time. Thank you so much for the review and we hope to have you back again!
