Azalea Sands Golf Course
Played On 08/19/2023Great Confidence Builder
The staff is nothing short of spectacular!!! Our business was clearly very welcomed. The greens were amongst the best in the area. The course itself needs a some TLC but it’s certainly playable and not a dog track (it’s no Tidewater or Caledonia) and the rates are very fair. Azalea Sands is a pretty straight forward golf course which is very refreshing. High handicappers will enjoy this course because it won’t beat you up too badly and you won’t loose a lot of balls. Hitting the fairway is a premium because the rough will gobble up balls but again this course is very playable for all golfers. This is a tremendous course to regain some confidence. GPS on the carts was very nice and appreciated. My only real grip with Azalea Sands is no drinking water for the golfers and no cart person — so I strongly recommend that you bring your own beverage because you must hydrate. I now live in the area and I’ll most certainly return.
Beachwood Golf Club
Played On 07/20/2023Nothing Special but Fun to Play
This is a basic golf course — as there are certainly better options in Myrtle Beach. High handicappers will enjoy because it doesn’t beat you up and they won’t loose many balls. The course needs some TLC — as it’s spotty in places and the tee boxes and cart paths need some work. The staff is very friendly.
The Valley at Eastport Golf Club
Played On 12/07/2022Very Nice Mix of Holes
Nice mixture of holes. This course eases you into your round and then will reach up and bite you. Some wide open holes and some that you better not miss the fairway. Ball placement is a premium on at least half of the holes. A few blinded greens. Not a lot of forced carry’s from the tees. Greens were slow and the course is in need of a little TLC. Super friendly staff!!!
Hi, cwimer62! Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back at The Valley at Eastport Golf Club!
Butter Valley Golf Port
Played On 09/26/2020Needs to some tender loving care
I've been coming to Butter Valley for many years. Unfortunately, this is worst I've seen it. The tee boxes were borderline unplayable -- so little grass. The fairways were spotty and the rough has lots of clover, making finding balls a real chore. The greens were the slowest I've played all year. I gave the course condition 2 Stars only because the course does have some grass and you could move your ball -- forget about playing it down. The clubhouse guy was okay -- not very cordial. The starter at least had a little bit of a sense of humor. I drove an hour to play here because I usually enjoy this family owned course. With so many options within an hour, it may be a while before I'll be back and that's a real shame.
Blackwood Golf Course
Played On 11/02/2019it’s just okay
This course is simply okay. Finding balls is a challenge. The greens were painfully slow. Most of the bunkers were unplayable. You can spray the ball around and still score. The course is priced right, so keep in mind that your getting what you pay for. It will be a while before I come back.
Hi, cwimer62. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting Blackwood Golf Course. We hope you'll give us another try in the future.
Lederach Golf Club
Played On 09/07/2019Good test for better players
This is not a course for higher handicap golfers (which I am not). Greens are huge and lots of undulation. Depending on the pin placement, the greens can be a nightmare — where 3 putting will be the norm. The fairways are cut tight, so if you are a picker - you will struggle. Definitely a course you need to play a couple of times because of several blind shots. The guy in the pro shop TOTALLY LACKS CUSTOMER SERVICE skills!!! I traveled an hour to play this course, a welcoming smile (and I was paying $75) isn’t too much to ask for. He most certainly has some anger management issues.
Downingtown Country Club
Played On 08/10/2019Expected More for $70
Love the layout because of the variety of holes. Greens were receptive and rolled very nicely. Sand traps were also very good. Pace of play was very good and a ranger keeps things moving along. My group was told to pick it up but not in a stern way — which is how it should be. The tee boxes and some of the fairways need some TLC and for $70 (before 7:30 on the weekend) — my group expected more. There are too many other options within 45 minutes to warrant coming to Downingtown any time soon. I should note the service in the 19th Hole is exceptional (kudos to Sara)!!!
Chapel Hill Golf Course
Played On 08/04/2019What Happened???
The greens are the only positives about this course — as everything else needs work. The fairways, sand traps, tee boxes and cart paths need some serious TLC!!! I know it only $42 on the weekend but even that is too much. Sorry but I cannot lie to my fellow, golfers. Very disappointing because it wasn’t always this way.
Hi cwimer62. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting Chapel Hill Golf Course. We hope to see you again in the future.
Overlook Golf Course
Played On 07/28/2019Decent shape and fairly priced
Overlook is an older and fun course. The greens are on the smaller side, so your chipping/short game will be tested. Good for golfers of all abilities. This course is priced fair (good value). Weekends are under $50, so don’t expect country club treatment. My group comes here about 5 times a year because they’ve earned and appreciate our business.
Honeybrook Golf Club
Played On 10/06/2018Great Layout, Lots of Fun for All Skill Levels
For the amount of rain we’ve had, Honeybrook is in fantastic condition. Sand traps were in superb shape. Greens rolled nicely and the rough wasn’t overly punishing. All skill levels will enjoy this course. Great layout with a nice variety of holes. Honeybrook is my groups favorite golf course. The 19th hole is warm and friendly with a great selection of food and drinks. My only complaint is that I wish it wasn’t so expensive on the weekends ($70 on Saturday) but the rates are competitive with other nice courses in the area. Treat yourself to a great course and one you can truly enjoy.
Macoby Run Golf Course
Played On 09/29/2018Save Your Money
5 1/2 hour round. No ranger in sight. Too many blind tee shots. The guy in the pro shop was very rude. Tee times start at 6 am and sunrise wasn’t until 6:55, thus backing up the entire course. The greens were the only favorable part of the course. My group will NEVER go back!!!
Flying Hills Golf Club
Played On 08/18/2018Downhill Spiral
I think the fact that we were the only group there at 7 am on a beautiful Saturday morning says it all. This corse used to be one of the nicer ones in the area but it has gone seriously downhill over the last couple of years. Even at $40 — it’s still priced to high. All they are doing is mowing the grass. The entire course needs some tender loving care!!! At this point, I would be shocked if this course remains open. Furthermore, this i is not a course for beginners (which I am not) — most of the course is tight and in and out of condos and the greens are slow. Bring your water because I don’t recall seeing any. There may have been 1or 2 port-a-potty’s — so your bladder needs to be forewarned.
Landis Creek Golf Club
Played On 07/19/2018A Work In Progress
I had a Victory Golf Pass and paid only $17. If I would have paid the normal rate, I would have been really upset. This is a great course for beginners and those looking for a confidence booster. The guy in the clubhouse was very, very nice! As for the course condition, most of the greens are choppy and spotty. Tons of clover in the rough and finding balls can be a challenge and frustrating. The sand traps were mostly unplayable. No roll at all in the fairways. I know they are trying to clean up this track but until then, play elsewhere — as there are way too many better options in the area.
Fox Hollow Golf Club
Played On 06/16/2018Lots of Fun
I traveled 50 miles to play this hidden gem because I got a great deal on Grouper Golf. Fox Hollow is tucked away in Quakertown and can be tough to find without a GPS. That said, the course was packed on a Saturday morning and I can totally understand why. The service in the clubhouse is slow, the woman was very nice but very slow. The starter was a wonderful man and reiterated how happy we came to play this course — in fact he reached out to me afterwards for my course feedback. The course layout is very good with a great mix of holes. Shot placement is critical on a few holes. The greens were SUPERB — fast but rolled nicely!!! Very difficult to walk, so take a cart. Recommended for all handicap levels. The sand traps could use more sand but that’s really the only fault I found with the course. No frills clubhouse but it serves the purpose. Is the place Pebble Beach — the answer is no. What Fox Hollow is it’s a very nice track in the middle of nowhere run by a very friendly staff. Highly recommended if you want something different and live in the area. If I lived closer, I’d be a regular.
Pickering Valley Golf Club
Played On 05/26/2018It’s just okay
Nice layout. Not recommended for beginners. Very hilly. Tee times are 8 minutes apart and that can cause log jams. Only 1 water fountain on the course, so bring your own. $53 on the weekend — which is about right for the courses in this area. Aside from bushes that represent 150 yards, forget it - so bring a gps. Greens are on the slow side. Finding balls in the rough can be tough. Honestly, there are too many other quality courses within 20 minutes of this track.
The Bay Club - East Course
Played On 05/13/2018Great course for the average golfer
The staff is TOP NOTCH!!! Extremely friendly!!!! The East Course is pretty wide open and not a lot of forced carries — which is perfect for mid to high handicappers. Great Sunday Special for those over 55. The list price is $79 but the course conditions don’t justify that. The greens are fast but true. Definitely need to bring a GPS with you because markings (other than the 150) are tough to find. Tee boxes need some work. The course doesn’t drain well. Fairways need some TLC. That said, you won’t dip into your retirement account to play here. As I said, the staff is fantastic!!!!
Ocean Resorts Golf Club
Played On 05/12/2018Too many better options in the area
The old saying that you get what you pay for certainly applies here. The conditions are fair. Nice track for beginners and high handicappers. No ranger to speed up play. Bring a GPS because other than the 150 markers — it very tough to find yardage markers. For $54, the course is the cheapest in the Ocean City area — and its priced right (golf now has even better rates available for this course). The course needs to pair up twosomes becauae the pace of play can be downright brutal!!!! I’m in no hurry to return.
Spring Hollow Golf Course
Played On 05/11/2018More clover than any course I’ve ever played
Very friendly staff!!! I got a great deal on grouper golf and the victory golf book. The greens are decent. The fairways are okay. But if you aren’t in the fairway — finding balls is a nightmare, so much so that you need an eye exam after the round. Thank god we played very early or this would have been a 5 hour round. Decent variety of holes but LOTS of blind tee shots. The first hole is tough as you tee off out of a shoot. Switching the nines might help speed things up. Bring lots of balls and pack your patience. Also bring your gps because you will need it. Too many other options in the area. I can’t imagine paying $55 on the weekend for this course. At least the staff is wonderful.
Loch Nairn Golf Course
Played On 04/28/2018Too many other options in the area
If you enjoy 5 hour rounds at 9:30 am on a Saturday, with no course rangers and yardage markers tough to see — then this course is for you. If you’re going to charge $55, how about doing the little things to it more enjoyable. The greens are very good but there are a few too many dandelions. 15+ handicaps will struggle here. The starter needs to pair up twosomes. We were a foursome and we waited EVERY hole.
Ingleside Golf Club
Played On 11/04/2017Don't let the short distance fool you
Ingleside isn't long on distance (5000 yards from he tips). This course makes up for it by placing an emphasis on shot making. The greens are consistent -- not very fast. The condition is above average for a municipal course. It won't break the bank and can be played by all levels. It was perfect for a chilly fall day and my friends and I had a nice time. Our handicaps are around a 13 and it gave us plenty of challenge. Just keep in mind that this place isn't Pebble Beach but it also doesn't cost a lot to play it.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of our golf course. We appreciate your feedback and apologize if your experience was not up to your expectations. We will take your comments into consideration and work on improving the TLC of the course, including tee boxes and cart paths. We're glad to hear that our staff was friendly and hope you enjoyed your overall experience.
