Redhawk Golf Club
Played On 09/29/2023Used to Be Better
The greens were pretty chewed up due either to poor maintenance or inconsiderate players ahead of us (this was an afternoon round). Bunkers are in horrible condition. Grass in the rough is too long to find your ball. Found discarded range balls around the course. This was once a premium course; not so much any more.

Played On 09/05/2023Beautiful but Challenging
My only complaint would be the length of the grass just off the fairways. It’s so long it’s difficult to find your ball. I would say the carts need replacing, but new ones are already on order. And hopefully one day they’ll have a better apres golf and dining area (ala Temecula Creek). But kudos on the overall improvements already made.

The course is in good shape, typical for this time of year.

The course was great, but the greens were very slow and bumpy. It was difficult making even short putts.
Creek/Oaks at Temecula Creek Inn Golf Resort
Played On 05/09/2023All Great Except for GPS in Carts
Everything was great except for the awful experience with the GPS in their carts. The first cart they gave me provided lots of data about the course, but nothing about the holes as I was playing them. When I inquired at the turn, I was told they had accidentally give me a Marshall’s cart. They gave me a replacement, but this one didn’t seem to know where it was most of the time (their carts are on a programed system to control where they go, speeds, etc.). It would stop-and-go constantly, and the alarm sounded off at times for no reason. On the 18th hole, after I’d been on the fairway for several minutes, it decided it shouldn’t be there and just stopped. I had to crawl in reverse to the cart path in order to continue. I was so frustrated that I didn’t even finish the hole. It would have been an enjoyable round if not for the squirrelly carts.

Nice re-landscaping since my last time there, which was over a year ago.. And great improvement in staff friendliness and helpfulness.
They need more carts, which I was told are on order. We had to wait nearly until our tee time to get one. Also, the one we finally got ran out of power on the 16th hole. And, since cell phone service doesn’t work there, we couldn’t call the pro shop for help.

Played On 04/18/2023Sad
It’s sad to see such a previously enjoyable course decline to its current condition. It is possibly now the worst in the entire area. I am hopeful it will be purchased by a person/entity who has the resources and resolve to restore the course to its former glory.
Legends Golf Club
Played On 03/02/2023Winter Golf
The fairways were in poor condition, but I guess that’s to be expected in the dead of winter. No such thing as a good lie. But the greens were good.
Looks like they’re having financial challenges. Small things (e.g., tee boxes; bathrooms, etc.) reflected a lack of attention.
Excellent staff!
Arrowood Golf Course
Played On 04/25/2022It’s all good except the greens.
Everything about this course is great except for one thing:: accurate putting on the greens is impossible. There’s something about the grass that’s makes the surface untrue. The ball bounces all around instead of rolling smoothly. Hope they can fix this.
The Links at Summerly
Played On 03/08/2022It Is What It Is
It’s a “links” course. Keeping that in mind, it lives up to expectations. Players who don’t like this type of course won’t like this one. It does not have plush, smooth fairways. It has tough playing conditions and obstacles. If you accept that and learn how to avoid the hazards, you can enjoy golfing here. I do.

Played On 02/14/2022Fun Links-Style Course
If you’re okay playing a “links” course, you’ll enjoy this one. Fairways are in rough shape, but that’s typical for this style course. Not to mention, many courses in this area are in a dormant state at this time of year. It’s a short course, but burns and other obstacles make it a fun challenge.

Hats off to Legends for keeping their course in such good condition at this time of year when other golf courses haven’t.
Dos Lagos Golf Course
Played On 11/12/2021Nice Course, but…
1) No driving range.
2) Lots of blind shots on the front 9. Needed to play with someone who knew the course.
3) Pace of play was extremely slow. Need marshals on the course.
Outstanding clubhouse staff!
Hello, shawcren. Thank you for leaving us a review. We are sorry to hear your experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you will give us another try in the future. Thank you for choosing Dos Lagos Golf Course.
The Links at Summerly
Played On 02/23/2020Remember, It’s Links
For the price it’s a decent course to play. The fairways are hard with short grass, but that’s a characteristic of links. There are many nicer courses around, but the prices are correspondingly higher. The driving range uses actual turf, not mats. Very nice staff throughout. They could use a marshall on occasion. Came across one group with more than six players who were all beginners and playing very slowly. I’m sure they weren’t booked that way but just joined together after they got started. I like that it’s different than the other courses. Hope it survives.
California Oaks Golf Course
Played On 05/04/2020Good Value.
This is far from the nicest course you will play, but considering the cost and their friendly personnel, I consider it one of my go-to’s. It has no driving range, but some of the best courses in Pebble Beach don’t either. Their new management is doing a lot to improve the course condition, and it shows.

Played On 11/04/2017What a change!
I played here a little over a year ago and is wasn’t great, but they have really turned this place around. The course is in great shape, especially the greens. They’ve installed GPS on the carts that helps you navigate this tricky links course. And they’ve added markers on the course to identify the location of the burns, which is also a big help. If you want a unique golfing experience, give this place a try. It’s just plain fun!
Redhawk Golf Club
Played On 05/02/2016One of the great tracks in SoCal, but...
Red Hawk has always been a great course. My only complaint is the current condition of the fairways: They're very dry and hard. Maybe this is unavoidable due to the drought, but it's still a shame. This is not the case everywhere. BTW, it was a better course before all the additional housing that was added over the last 5-10 years. The 13th hole has become especially difficult with the homes located very close the left side of the fairway from the tee. With water on the right, I'm sure these houses get pummeled by lots of errant drives. I imagine the home owners aren't happy about it either.
Shorecliffs Golf Club
Played On 04/17/2016Blast from the Past
This is a muni-feeling course, but the layout suggests it was once played but some of the best golfers around. They claim Richard Nixon played here regularly. His B&W photo proudly hangs on the clubhouse wall. The tee boxes are in horrible condition and the fairways are pretty rough, but the greens are excellent. They obviously know what's most important to real golfers. Most of the bunkers are thin. The par 3's are some of the longest and toughest around. I must say the people (staff and players) are wonderful. The tunnels that take you to under streets to get to the next hole are charming, but a little scary. I'll definitely play here again. Hope they hook me up with nice players like they did this time.
Thanks so much for playing Shorecliffs GC! We appreciate the review and glad you had a great time at the course, sounds like you enjoyed your visit and it was unique! Come back soon.
Castle Creek Country Club
Played On 04/16/2016Low End for Low Price
Very basic, but the price is right. Not a difficult course, but a few tough holes, especially one very long par 5. No driving range and no on-course beverage service. On this day (Saturday?) the snack bar between the front-9 and back-9 was closed (at least in the afternoon - I teed off at 1:20). The good news is that the clubhouse bar and food service are quite good - I especially enjoy the large variety of micro-brew beers. I'd play here again, just because it's low-keyed, relaxing atmosphere.
