Great Course

A buddy and I played Grand Bear on a day where the rain percentage was 70%. Very few people were there, but the weather held up and we thoroughly enjoyed the course. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the course layout was top notch. Par threes were a little longer than I was used to , which added to the challenge, but the course was demanding and rewarding. I plan to play this course again in the future.

Nice Little Courae

The course was in great shape, and perfect for a mid morning outing. The course is shorter than most, but being a 24 handicapper, it was the right distance for me. A really great value for the price, and it will punish you if you don't stay on the fairway.

Great Course In Orlando

When I visit Orlando on business, I usually look for cheap deals. After playing substandard courses in poor shape, I've decided to star playing 4 star or better courses if the price is reasonable. Shingle Creek Golf Club was an unexpected surprise.

Everything about this course was worth every dime I paid. The fairways were in great shape, the greens speedy and challenging with plenty of break, and the staff top notch.

The day was perfect for golf, and I'll put Shingle Creek at the top of my list of public courses to play when I return for my next business trip. It's nice to be pleasantly surprised and spoiled at the same time. This is a 5 star course.

Great Price, Great Course

I was in town for a weekend business conference, and had the afternoon off to play some golf. I found this place online, and they had a great deal for an online special. Finding the golf course wasn't difficult, and the course was pretty wide open. Not many people playing. Some of the fairways were a little bit wet, and the greens sped up as the day went on, but overall, it was in great shape. I played by myself on the front nine since the course was relatively empty, and didn't catch the foursome in front of me until the 7th hole. They were playing at a good pace, so I kept my distance. On the turn at #10, the course got real busy. I tee'd off, and even though I was alone on the front nine, I was immediately pushed from behind by a single player, followed by a single player, followed by a twosome. By 11, I joined up with a twosome that had left a club on the 10th green, and played as a threesome, but the two singles behind us lost patience, and zoomed their carts a couple of holes in front of us. I don't understand the ins and outs of course management, but I do get miffed when I'm playing a good pace, and people not only jump in after the turn, but they push you, and expect you to let them play through when the course is full in front of you. Other than that, The twosome I joined up with was very friendly (and a lot better golfers than I am), but I would rather play with people I don't know, then by myself. The staff at the pro shop and the Marshalls were all great, and so was the beer girl. I would definitely play this course again.

Response from on 01/04/2017:
Fantastic! We're glad that you enjoyed your experience with us at ChampionsGate. We apologize that you were getting pushed from behind. Next time this situation occurs please let someone on our staff know and we will make sure to address it. We're happy that you enjoyed your time with the twosome that you met though! It's always a good time meeting new people who enjoy the game as much as you do. We hope to see you back soon!

Nice resort course

Nice course, it was in good shape. The worst comment I can make is that it took forever for me to find this place. My GPS wasn't even close, and the resort is so large, that I needed to ask for directions from one of the employees working the security shacks at the entrance. The pro shop is buried near the resort check in building, and it took me a lot longer to search for it, which cut into my pre-round practice routine. They need more signs to guide golfers to the course. It wasn't very busy once on the course, and I enjoyed playing with another 2 single players. I'd play the course again, but would caution first timers to get good directions before playing.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for us. I agree we need better signs for directions within the resort. I have inquired about this as I have myself gotten lost there as staff at first! We're so glad you enjoyed the course. To show our appreciation, we would like to comp you a round of golf at our newly renovated course Harmony Golf Preserve in central FL. Please contact our team at ThankYou@integritygolfco.com and include where you would like the voucher mailed to so we can send you your voucher.

Lots of Wildlife

The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the course was in great shape. Lots of wildlife throughout the course (if you are into that). Cranes and Fox squirrels everywhere. There wasn't very much water to deal with, but even though the course is in a residential area, the trees do come into play on most holes. The fairways were longer than what I am used to, and there wasn't much of a distance advantage for my wife on the ladies tees. I read previous reviews about where the pace of play was slow, and for us, there wasn't any issues on the front nine, but at the turn, it was a standstill. We had a slow foursome playing two groups in front of us, and they pretty much backed us up and added 30 minutes to our back nine playing time.

Other than that, it was a fun day. As an added bonus, the beverage cart girl came by about 4 times while we were playing, and even took our lunch order, and delivered it to us while on the course. This really came in handy while we were waiting for the slow foursome in front of us.

A Worthy Adversary

My wife and I usually spend a couple of nights in the Tampa/St Pete area prior to a WDW vacation, and have been playing the Clearwater area courses on Golf Now/ Military Tee Times. I wasn't too sure about this one when I read previous reviews (Course conditions and slow pace of play), but I could get a tee time around 8am, so we went for it. While the course isn't as long as most Championship courses that I have played, it was enjoyable. My wife played the Orange tees, and had a definite advantage, since they were on average 120-150 yards down from the white tees where I play. This helped with her confidence, and made it a lot more enjoyable for her, since she prefers par three courses (she is intimidated that she can't hit the long ball as far as I do). Her confidence helped her to shoot her best score ever, and if you have a happy wife, you have a happy life! The course was in really good condition, and the greens were faster than I expected. The pin placements were challenging, often on a small slope, which made you not only judge your putting speeds, but the lie of the greens as well. The staff and beverage girl were friendly, and made this a good experience. If given the chance, I'd play it again.

Not As Bad As Many Think

I booked this course before doing a lot of research, and when I started reading about the course conditions, and a lot of disappointed golfers over the last month, I thought that maybe I had made a mistake.

I didn't. While the course wasn't in great shape, and they had just aerated the greens, it wasn't busy, and my wife and I had a great time. The weather decided to rain on our parade just as we were making the turn from the front nine to the back nine, but since it was lunch time, we had a couple of burgers, and beer apiece, and started the back nine after a 40 minute delay. The course wasn't busy, and we got right back in, and didn't feel rushed at all.

If your looking for a 5 star course, you are going to be disappointed, but if you are looking for a 4 star course for less than 30 bucks apiece, consider Mystic Dunes. We had a great time, and would play it again.
