Outstanding course....a must play!

This is the best course I've played in New Mexico by far. Course conditions were excellent and the layout is outstanding. Pace of play was awesome as well. I was able to finish a round right at 3 hours as a single.

The course isn't easy and you definitely need to play it a couple times to figure out where you can miss. A couple of blind tee shots and even a couple of blind approaches. But definitely a fair layout. The course is public but feels private but not in a stuffy way. Everyone is friendly to include the other golfers. I thoroughly enjoyed my time and will definitely be back.

Best course on Oahu

Not sure why all the reviews for Hawaii golf courses exclude Hoakalei but they're mistaken. I've played every public and private course (except Oahu Country Club) and this is the best course on island.

It's always in great condition, the greens are quick but fair and the layout is also equal parts challenging but fair as well. I'm a 6 handicap and haven't broken 80 on the 10 times I've played it but I enjoy it every time.

It's private so you need to play with a member but it's the most accessible of the 5 private courses on island and for good reason.

They just built a new clubhouse and restaurant with a Michelin rated chef and the staff are always friendly. My only knock, if I had to find one, is that sometimes the pin locations border on unfair...but if that's the only bone to pick, then life is good.

Outstanding layout and design!!

Came in town to visit a friend and wanted to play the New Course for a while now. The course did not disappoint. It was a slow round but I expected as much with the small amount of morning tee times available. Nevertheless, it was worth every minute and penny I spent.

The course is a true links style course. Greens are tricky and fast but the fairways are wide open.

The staff was excellent. Everyone was friendly and it felt like a high end resort course. Would love to play again when in the area next time.

Great course, great location, great layout!!

In town for work and I currently live in Hawaii so I play some very nice courses. Was looking forward to playing with a great friend of mine who lives in Irvington. I drove over 2 hours from Destin where I was staying to play the course so I was hoping it was all it was cracked up to be; it was. Needless to say, we both had an awesome time even though we both didn't play too well.

The young men who took our bags were attentive and courteous. The pro shop attendant was very nice and the starter was awesome. He gave us some pointers on some holes and even drove around later and asked us how we liked the course.

This particular day, the weather was extremely windy which made the course exponentially harder. The greens are super fast and very firm...but fair.

I'm a 6 handicap and my short game is my strength and I finished with 33 putts and shot an 89. In fairness, I didn't strike my irons as well as I normally do but I didn't get the speed of the greens down until maybe the 5th hole or so.

Nevertheless, the course is excellent and if I lived in the area I'd play it quite often. It's a must play!!

Solid course...will play again!

Just flew in town and it was the first course I've played in Florida. All of the staff are excellent. My interactions with everyone from the time I pulled up until the time I left was outstanding.

To be fair, there is nothing at all wrong with this course. Course is in very good condition. The greens roll great and course is overall very playable. The ONLY two reasons i gave the course a 4 instead of a 5 star rating are as follows:

1. Layout is gorgeous but it's not that difficult. I'd venture to guess that it's designed for older players which makes perfect sense. The fairways are pretty wide despite a couple that'll make you put the driver down. Overall, the course is pretty easy, in my opinion.

2. The rate was discounted to $79 which I have no problem playing. But for basically $80 I was expecting something a little more difficult for the money. I've paid less for tougher courses in the same condition and the rate I had again, was discounted.

So overall, my experience was great and I'll play here again.

Thank you for the EXCELLENT rating. The Golf course designed by Freddie Couples was made for all skill levels to enjoy. It sounds like you played very well on this day. I enjoyed reading your comments about the staff kindness and the great course conditions. These two things combined make for a great day of golf. We feel that the rates are very fair with the wonderful experience we provide. Its lasting memories that we are looking for and it sounds like we achieved this with your visit. Please come back and visit us again soon.

Nope...nope...nope!!

My buddies had warned me that I wouldn't enjoy this round and they couldn't be more correct. The level of inconsistency in the quality of the course combined with the insanely unfair layout makes for a not-fun round.

There were greens and fairways that were gorgeous...and then there were fairways and greens that were worse than the worst municipal course.

The course isn't made for golf. There were par 5's that ran out of fairway at the 240 yd mark unless you go way right which was improbable. There were par 4's that if you hit a driver you'd be too far and if you hit an iron you'd have to hit a 5i to an elevated green that wasn't receptive at all. I'll never play again.

Favorite course on Oahu!!!

Just got to the island in June and had played a few courses already. I was unaware of the prestige of the course before I played. Nevertheless, I was in for a treat. This course has the best greens on island. I've played quite a few courses and only 2 have been able to match the quality and layout that this course has and both of those courses host PGA events.

Treat yourself and play The Broadmoor

Been living in Colorado Springs for almost 4 years and have been waiting for a chance to play the course. Stayed at the resort over the weekend and played the East Course. For April in Colorado, the course was in great shape. We also just go snow a few days prior. The layout is very challenging. The front is a lot easier than the back. Shot +2 on the front but +8 on the back. Lots of long Par 4's from the Blue tees on the back.

The staff was amazing. They are so friendly. They remember your name, care about your needs and do their best to make your stay and round as enjoyable as possible. I highly recommend playing if you can fork up the cash.

Excellent course...highly recommend it!!

I got to play this course two weeks ago with a couple of members. The staff was super cool because they let me go out without a forecaddie which isn't the norm for non-members. I got the 2nd tee time of the day and the weather was perfect. The course was getting prepped for the Shell Houston Open so there was quite a bit of construction going on but who cares; I got to play a PGA Tour course two weeks before the event. The greens were in great shape and the the fairways were immaculate. I've played all around the world and this is one of my top 5 favorite courses. Hope they keep the tournament at this venue. Its great for a PGA Tour event.

Great layout, great course!!

Love this course. Played TPC San Antonio and The Golf Club of Houston on my Texas trip and this course was actually my favorite of the 3 to play. Super cool layout, especially the back 9. Rewards shot-making. You definitely won't need to hit driver every hole and the back gets tight. The greens weren't in the best condition but then again, I had just played TPC San Antonio the day before but they did roll true and for golfing in March, that's good enough. Really enjoyed the course and looking forward to playing again on my next trip.

Not a bad muni...but definitely over priced

This is definitely one of the better municipal courses I have played. Was in town visiting my buddy and he raved about the course. The staff was fairly friendly, the course was in solid shape for a muni and the greens were extremely impressive to get that much play. The layout is pretty basic though there are some interesting holes with water. Overall though, the price was waaaay too high. For a municipal course, you shouldn't be paying more than $50 in March. I paid over $60. I paid the same amount to play TPC San Antonio. Again, good course but definitely overpriced.

Great course for the money!!

I loved it...granted it was my first time playing. The staff were two older guys and one was hilarious. The greens were in great condition and the fairways were in good condition. I played twilight so I got 15 holes in starting at 5pm and I paid like $16 or something. It's a very fair course. You hit good shots and you get rewarded. Nothing to complain about. I'll definitely be back.

Not bad; not great

Definitely not a bad course by any means but for the price they're charging it could use some work. Course is probably $100K from being where it should be.

Tee boxes, cart paths, fairways on some holes and yardage markers all need work or need to be actually created. But the greens ran consistent. Not fast greens at all but they were soft so you could play aggressive. Challenging layout but not the course you want to play the first time by yourself. Lot of unknown tee shots.

Overall it's a 3.5 but couldn't give it that.
