Look at the ragged edge of the cup on the 12th green. It apppears this cup was cut many days ago. Photo submitted by KommissarKen on 06/30/2019

Kohl Creek Golf Course
Played On 06/19/2020Disappointing, but perhaps there's hope
The folks who own and run the course are very nice. But they are not maintaining the course effectively. Some of the tee boxes were uneven. Others had three-inch rough. The greens were in poor shape and the fairways only somewhat mowed.
I would have rated the course lower, except that the layout is actually rather good. There is a decent nine-holer there, buried under the overgrowth and the damaged greens. But it will take more of a commitment to maintenence to bring it out.
Elkhorn Golf Course
Played On 06/29/2019Not worth the money ... even $14
This course is not being maintained, which is a shame because there are a few interesting holes. It appears the bunkers haven't been filled with sand in months or years -- they are full of weeds. The fairways are the length of rough -- they haven't been mowed in days or perhaps weeks. It doesn't appear the holes have been moved in weeks. Several of the greens had little or no grass on them. On some you were putting on dirt or mud.
It astounds me that they have the nerve to charge $46 for a weekend round here. I played for $14, getting a "hot deal" on their Website. Even at that price, it was not worth it. Shame on these folks for allowing the course to get so out of condition.

Quarry Pines Golf Club
Played On 3/11/2013A test ... a FUN test of golf
This well-maintained course is really a tale of two nines. The front nine is more parkland and easier to play. It plays along the rim of a former quarry. The back nine, which winds its way down into, then back out of, the pit, is one challenging hole after another. It's much more target/desert golf, with forced carries and lots of unplayable lies or worse. Bring a few extra balls, because chances are you'll need them.
I played in 4.5 hours, so I didn't experience the problems other reviewers have with inordinate slow play. (I played on a Monday.)
This course reminds me of a kinder, gentler -- and much prettier -- Chambers Bay, another quarry course.
Hi Ken,
We can't disagree with your assessment. The course was opened before it was ready. Conditions have improved greatly & we hope you'll come try it again. :)
Best Wishes,
