Riverchase Golf Club
Played On 08/23/2020On The Decline
This facility used to be the "go-to" course in the area. Now, it's being upstaged by municipal courses like Luna Vista, Prairie Lakes, and even the renovated Irving Golf Club.
Cart paths are so broken and disheveled people are driving around the worst spots, which isn't much relief since irrigation ruts, leaking water lines, and general fairway conditions prevent a smooth ride anywhere on the course. The recent punching of the greens appears a little wanting of attention also.
Tee boxes are also of concern. Some of the issues; severely crowned boxes (no flat lies), heavy divot damage with no repairs or sand mix fill available. Ground so hard on some that a wood tee barely penetrates.
I realize the economic impact the pandemic has caused, but our group of 18 players have steadily watched the decline of Riverchase evolve. Some of our group have sworn off playing here because of the aforementioned issues. One player hurt his back enough just riding down a cart path that it kept him off any courses for over two weeks.
Unfortunately, I, along with 17 others, have moved Riverchase off our rotation. This is a shame because this is one of the best laid-out tracts in the immediate area.
Riverside Golf Club
Played On 08/25/2017Tough But Fair
Tough but short layout from the white tees. Very tough from the tips. Avoid the bunkers unless you like fried eggs. Bring an extra sleeve (lots of water and the Trinity River is on your left for few holes). Shot placement is key to a good round. Have fun!
Lake Arlington Golf Course
Played On 08/17/2017Just short of great
Great layout for a short course (just 6610 yds from the tips. Was worried about pace of play but it was unwarranted. We finished in 4 hours flat, and it was busy. As with a majority of North Texas courses they did not have cart service, on a 100 degree day with 79% humidity. Seriously! I played in Colorado last week and every course had cart service XL (one cart for each 9). If LAGC would address that issue I'd rate the course much higher. Same goes for all other north Texas courses that have cart service issues.
WestRidge Golf Course
Played On 03/09/2017Winter Conditions Prevailing
Tee boxes need leveling and seeding. Fairways just starting to recover from winter dormancy. Greens have suffered the most and need extensive work to restore them. Still a fun track and great layout. Not quite back to a condition that would justify full rack pricing though.
