This course starts off rather flat, but soon you can see it was carved into the Mt. Cheaha & Talladega Natl Forest Regions of Alabama. It offers four to five sets of tee boxes on each hole, so you can bite off as much as you can chew. You better be in good physical condition to handle the ups & downs of the terrain, specially on the back nine.
The greens are bent grass & even tho they had been hole-punched & sanded recently, they would still hold an approach shot. The speed & undulation makes putting fairly difficult. The fairways were excellent, cut at about 3/4 inches which allowed players to get a club under the ball on fairway shots.

Played On 07/26/2017Bent grass greens are surviving the heat. They've been taking on a tad too much rain. Still excellent greens to go right at stick with approach shot. Holds shots extremely well & they aren't ridiculously fast to putt on.

Played On 07/23/2017Bent grass greens are trying to hang in there, but the heat is beginning to take its toll. Still holds shots well, thougn, and they're not as fast as most bent grass greens (which I happen to like).
Fairways have been cut narrow, with a deep first--cut rough. Makes it hard to find your ball if you miss the fairway by only inches.
Overall, it's a nice Municipal Course with the Coosa River winding its way throughout. Stay hydrated!
